AR Rahman's Tamil Blockbuster "BOYS"

Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Here is what i found::

Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.

Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.

In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.

Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.

For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

  So, let me see...by reading the posts commenting on BOYS being vulgar, sex influenced and stuff...
  does that means..u guys don't watch ENGLISH movies?..
  
  yennapa ithe...when u know there is a guy kissing the girl..in English movie..u all run into theatre to look at it...but just by portraying what is going in in Youth..Shankar became a villain?....but u r the same guys who rented BF VCD's and DCD's every weekend...

  Thanks for that post abt ARR's music. This is the first bad and negative review of Boys I am encountering.
  
  I am so happy. After all in a democracy we need to have some criticism. I was anxious that Boys was getting tooo many rave reviews for its music but there is one in a hundred of these reviews where the music is criticised!
  
  I am happy and now I can be satisfied that there is an overwhelming majority of good reviews with this 1 bad one from fullyhyderabad.com!

  If 4 boys get together, due to some bad incidents thier life and do gorila style attacks on politicians & buerocrats and fund some charity using stolen black money. With some songs and dances, everbody would have enjoyed!. That would have been 'bramandam'!.
  
  But, these 4 boys seem to have gone though adolesence like you and me!. They do things like many other guys do in thier age!. That is offensive?.
  
  We dont need a over played and laid out plot for a movie. In fact good movies should not have a plot. Life does not happen with alaid out plot. When we have a stuborn plot, scenes are squeezed in for the convienience of the plot and looks un natural. Maniratnam always keeps saying this. Not that Shankar is my fav director, But I welcome anyone who breaks these rules. In my opinion a movie has to be seqence of interesting scences that as whole makes some sense.
  
  I lived 4 yrs in hostel and so many thing happened. Even if I wasnt involved, many things like picking up girls to hill stations, physical affiar with senior girls, girl who eloped with a neighbor, one girl who was sleeping with one guy and married a rich groom by in the end, getting call girls in to hostel, porn in hostel lobby at 3am, etc etc! so many things happened. We have talked so much that any movie cant surpass!. There was also a cancer death and sucide for love failure, thats some sad part. If anyone makes a iteresting movie out of this, I would take it as good chronicle of our lives in 90's/2000's. Just like any 70's love films recorded that time.
  
  Just by hypocrisy, we forget whats realy goes on in our lives and want to see fake reality. I dont say boys is 100% real, at least these are close to what young people encounter.

  Do u agree that films shud show everything that goes in our lives? A first night scene will always end in doors closing automatically and not in potraying what happens inside the room. Films shud create a postive impact Ex:kadhalukku mairyadhai,cheran,vikraman films . Every individual is a pervert in someway or the other but showing them in films will never do any good to society.

  peeps, even I think the movie goes overboard at a lot of places and cannot be jutified at all; but cant accept this - "College pasanga'nnalley ippidi thaan irupaanga appideenu thaaney school pasanga nenaipaanga?" - cos the movie has been given an 'A' certificate....so its their and their parents mistake if the school going kids see the movie....

  Boys Sucks. Scrap movie. Its inspiration may be Thulluvatho Ilamai. But the clear screenplay, BGM, Songs in TI, is not at all there in Boys. Shankar has once again proved, he cannot give a better movie. His only good movie is yet to come.

  I cud see bunch of school kids for Kadhal kondein movie('A' certified). Considering the state of movie industry we cant expect strict vigilence in theatres for A certified movies. Teenagers cant be restricted by rules. The age tempts to test everything once. Its like displaying "kudi kudiyai kedukkum" sentence in liquors and saying that we have displayed that and now its in the hands of the individuals to drink or not. Why to produce a provoking movie and that too from a popular director and say its only for people who are above 18? Why drinking is not considered illegal while prostitution is ?
  
  See the malayalam movie industry...where do they get such storylines? i read somewhere 'dhool' director saying that there is nothing new to tell in tamil films and everything has come in one movie or the other. some mallu movies..
  karunyam, kireedam, senkol for beautiful father - son relationship..
  vadakku noki yanthram - story of a guy with inferiority complex and how he turns into a mentally challenged
  thaniyavarthanam - how superstitions and circumstances force one guy to turn into a mentally challenged
  mithunam - how a girl hangs on to the love life and refuse to come to married life and criticizes husband for being not the same person when he loved her
  desadanam - forced sainthood on a small kid

  but I feel the way he used guitar , if u compare that with rock music of metallica or anyone like dat...u feel rahman invented new rock....
