I listened to VandeMatharam in which ARR recycled his own tunes from Kizhakku Ceemayile and a touch of a song from Indira.
Also ARR's recent movies for big time producers like Ratchagan and Iruvar (except one song) and Dhoud in Hindi did not have any notable music. Remember ARRs last hit Minsarak Kanavu music was done long time ago.
If for a major album for Sony released on 50th year of Indian Independence, ARR cannot produce original music, then I have to come to the conclusion that he is running out of stuff. I heard that ARR is planning to cut down on movies and concentrate more on albums. Thus he will have to produce less and earn more.
Right now I do not see any difference in the quality of music produced by ARR and Karthik Raja. In fact I think Deva is doing a better job of providing consistant good quality music.

well said Raj! :-)
BTW, i had earlier raised my doubt about the drum beat in 'chinna chinna mazhai thuli' from ESK, being similar to the beat in the male version of 'Ek Dho Theen..' from Tezaab. I dont have the later song with me now. Can someone compare them? For some reason, this beat sounds familiar to me. Or, is it that the beat is very commonly used?

Nakkeeran,
The beats in 'chinna chinna mazhai thuli' although not an original, but cannot be termed a copy too. It is a lift from traditional Gujarathi ras-garba (dandiya beat).
Although it pains to laern that our lil'genius is looking out for inspiration - lets face it the overall composition is pretty good - it was suprabatham and 'endaro mahanubavalu' to capture ARR's attention. He has now gone to Gujrat for the latest inspirations.
He had mentioned in Rediff chat about adopting Punjabi / North Indian beats in his later movies to have an All India appeal (and not stick to Carnatic/Hindustani music alone). This might be the first one in that direction.
Watch out for 'balle balle' tunes too from him. Its all for money you see !!
PS: I had set very high expectations from ARR - time to revise and be happy with just one isai gnani from Tamizh naadu ?

Eden,
What you are saying is absloutely wrong my friend. You think all the people are just dump to bear the recycled music. They might have used to be like that during the period of IR and right now, everybody wake-up and it is not easy to fool the people by marketing the worthless repeated musics. That is why, your IR can't promote his music, in other word, not able to continue fooling the people.
ARR has all the quality, initiativity, creativity, innovation, etc. in the music field. Therefore, shubash Ghai, MR, KB, Shankar, etc. are still in the 'Q' on the door step of ARR. Whoever mentioned here have much more knowledge of the music than IR fans.
The medias can appreciate or depreciate any outcome. The same 'Kumudam' will turn to ARR sometimes after. But, the true judges are only people (true music lovers) and the most of the people are gauging ARR has more stuff than IR. So, ARR is the one and only music whizard now.
IR is now history and let him stay with his past glory.

Srinath and other connoiseurs of the 'dhjksfl..' thread:
Wherever you are, let me tell you , you dont have to,as you do often , take pains to constantly keep looking out for the intelligent turn of phrase here, a witty twist of logic there to make us smile/LOL...What price, I ask you ,all that labour when there are people who can achieve the 'dhkjsfl" effect with much less effort..infact by merely transalating thoughts into words..?
ARR Fan: I like the way you express yourself...in the arid desert thats my lonely life, posts like yours are the elusive oases providing one spark of happiness now and then. What with SPM flirting dangerously with a block here, one will need people like you to keep one from getting glum and serious...Please continue to post in the same spirit...remember you are providing a few moments of mirth to an otherwise gloomy bird:)

Mr Kuzhapam,
Your Statement "Running out of stuff applies to everyone. Not arr alone, including the Great! Raja" is not applicable to IR.
Even after over 700 movies, his music is fresh, new, innovative, non-repetative. IR is the only one who is still not interested in lifting songs directly from Western Music albums.
Whereas ARR music is mostly copied stuff or recycled. There is no innovation, or creativity in his music.

DORAI....vidandavatham...I can also say the same to Ilayaraja., in your view you still belive ilayaraja is great, I dont belive so.
Bottom line : IR with his vast experience is Totally out of market, there it ends. suma ARR copy, flick are just for argument sake ---- btw:IR has also lifted many.

I also felt the same about Mr.Kuzhappam's identity possibly being Mr.Srikanth - anyway, I guess he was probably refused an interview by Raja !! hence all this unbridled animosity.

Mr Kuzhapam,
IR is not in the Market?. Well, he is still very active. Look at his music in KK. Is there a match from ARR for Dianna..Dianna in originality.
ARR goes with all lifted tunes and music. let him compose his own original songs then we can talk about being IR out of market

Whatever said and done ARR IS THE BEST. Afterall that is how it has been after he came into TFM. So if you are to look at it in that angle he has left IR far far behind. ( sorry IR fans..:-(( ). Well it is no silly joke to be the best MD of a country. Now now u IR fans don't get excited. I know u guys do not think so. But that is how things are so be a good sport and accept it. It is all very easy for u guys to sit and just talk that ARR is no good but u know it doesn't work. it is like saying Kamal is the best and so rajini is no good. Whatever Kamal does still rajini reigns supreme coz in the end what matters is popularity and it always shows that rajini is the best. So u all smart IR fans in the end u're so called mastero is second to ARR. I do think he is good but you know not good enough to be NUMER UNO.
