What a disappointment!
After the excellently sung songs of Duet I was expecting the collaboration of Rahman and SPbala in this album....but it was not to be!!!!
I feel Rahman is deliberately excluding SP bala from his projects to avoid sharing the success with him!

Hi guys,
I am not against SPB, but would like to say that SPB is at the verge of his retirement. There are lots of new young bloods have come who are doing really good. Currently, SPB doesn't have even 5% of market share in Tamil movies. No offence, every one has to retire some day.

AR Rahman is totally down...What a horrible performance...Totally disappointing performance after DUET which was a master piece.....jarring voice and unsynchronized tunes and beats..I donno..where is he going....he may reach michael jackson..but will not so successul to convince Tamil makkal

Pasangala...Idha Padinga.....Anyone can do with Michael jackson..but not everyone can do thiruvaasagam.......
Thiruvaasagam to be orchestrated by Ilayaraja (Oct 10, 2001)
Maanikka Vaasagar's Thiruvaasagam is going to be orchestrated by Ilayaraja with Hungary's Budapest Symphony Orchestra. In a novel attempt, it's been planned to sound the English translation in the background simultaneously while the Tamil verses are sung in the foreground. This is being produced by Ilayaraja's Cultural Trust
keep ur fingers crossed............Symphonyna ennanu katthukuduthadhu namma Thalaivar dhaan

guru, who said he is at the verge or retirement. he has stil at leas 10 years and his voice is as youthful as ever. Listen to star and nandha and telegu thenali (spb is the producer in telegu tenali and it is not arr's generosity to use him in telegu tenali) guru, you have to eat your words. If arr wants to give to different persons, why in Hindi, he is not using that logic. he uses more udit and kumar than hari or srini or shankar. that's because he is alien to hindi world and that's what the hindi world will consider him. he has no choice but to accept the hindi producers and directors terms. in tamil he dictates.

Raycas, this is a thread full of maniacs. The moment I read the statement >>ARR knows if he uses SPB in his songs, that SPB will take a huge proprtion of the credit, when there is a ARR - SPB combination, every ones talk about SPB, not ARR, so he uses SPB tactically to make his bad tunes a super hit<< I knew visiting this thread further will be an insult to my intelligence. I only chanced upon here after wondering why the thread was still so active several days later.
Arguing that ARR is wrong to use others instead of SPB is equivalent to arguing tat MR or Shanker r wrong in giving all their movies to ARR. Also, remember why Subash Ghai's next movie after Taal did not go to ARR? Or why Dum^3 went to KR? Simply bcos ARR was not available. How do the manicas here know tat perhaps SPB, due to his busy schedule, did not turn down the offers to sing for ARR or tat maybe the producers/directors did not favour someone else, etc? So many factors can decide who is chosen to sing.
And Guru, wat has IR's next project got to do wit ARR or SPB???

Exactly, Guru, Please don't put on your sherlock holmes's costume and start making deductions. What appears to be, need not be.
I remember reading in one of Rahman's interviews about this particular question as to why he does not use SPB frequently. He said that SPB is a legend and he uses him for tunes truly worthy of him. Also other singers too need to be given a chance.

vinayak, let others get a chance. but in 9 songs cannot he give some to spb in pp. also why he uses udit and kumar in hindi to the maximum in a single film. why double standards. also , i have never seen or heard arr praising spb in any forum. please give details if any.

there are no spb fanatics in this forum. all those who miss spb are just his admirers and include highly educated population who are mesmerised by his versatility and divine voice

which kumar does he use in Hindi
I have heard all of Rahman's works and the only song sung by Kumar Sanu is one in Kabhi na Kabhi
Infact one of the positive points of Rahman's Hindi scores have been the absence of Kumar Sanu :-)
Udit,Sukhwinder, Sonu & Hariharan he uses to the maximum yes. Maybe he hasn't has much exposure to fresh voices in Hindi as compared to in Tamil

mr raycas, we are all proud to be maniacs of spb, the greatest singer that India has ever produced.
similarly we are proud that we are maniacs of Sivaji Ganesh,Sachin Tendulkar, Don Bradman,John Mcenroe,Viv Richards,Bobby Fisher, Diego Maradonno and sevral other great artistes in their respective fields. there is nothing wrong in being maniacs or fanatics as long as there is nothing violent in it. so using adjectives like fanatics, maniac will not negative any of the facts.

Well...i think if SPB s not around much these days that's only bcoz the tunes that are comin up are not quite worthy of him. Otherwise who else do u think cud have sung Azhagaana Rakshasiye or Swasame like SPB? If ARR says that the exclusive ones and the beat ones are reserved for SPB...then thats it.

SPB is a good singer... Even his voice gets monotonous when listened to all the time. All the hard core SPB fanatics, take a break! SPB has sung enough songs that are too good. He does not need ARR to make him sing and show that he is worth something through ARR...
Not using SPB is another reason people hate ARR, huh?

IN Rajini starrer Panakkaran there is a song Nooru varusham mappillaiyum ....Many average listeners thought that time it was sung by SPB....Even in one of the concert someone that time wanted Spb to sing that song Actually it was sung by MANO...When ever a duplicate arrives with similar voice...the original looses Monopoly status....So there is nothing wrong in MDS loosing interest in similar voices and go for someone totally fresh....
ARR is quite keen on fresh voices...Even SJ and Chitra he uses minimum...oflate...For telugu and Hindi versions when it is only dubbing he is not at all present for recording and singers are totally producers choice for dubbed ARR films..

dear fan,
being a fan is one thing, but being a fanATIC is another thing...
fan is positive...that means u admire someone because he is great in his field and so on...
but fanatic is something negative...cause here ur admiration goes over a certain limit...a limit from where there is no useful argument to give. argumenting ARR is not using SPB because he is afraid of sharing the success with SPB is just utter nonsence! not a real fan would argument like this, but a fanatic. cause a fanatic doesn't care about if his argument makes sense, all he is upto is to defend (or speak in favour of) his object of fanatism (like here SPB or anyone else)
this is not to offend the tamilians (really not!!!!, please don't start the next battle on this!!!!!!): but how come film stars like MGR, sivaji ganeshan, jayalalitha or rajinikanth are really worshipped like gods in tamil nadu by the tamilians???? this kind of fanatism is something really unique to me...would really like to know how this comes...
please tamilians....don't take this as an offend...just curious to know from where this attitude comes...

Big Deal if ARR is not using SPB, who is ARR, the lord?, well Nandha songs are way better than this PP crap, Mun paniya is superbly rendered by SPB, he is still the DON, have you guys noticed how he switches from low notes to high notes, it is simply amazing, there is no other singers in India 2day, who can rule over SPB in HIGH PITCHES.
listen to this legend's voice, at 55, he sounds like a 25 year old, KJY at 60 sounds like 60, Hariharan sounds too nasal, Unni Krishnan is too feminine, Shanker strain too much.
SPB is uncomparable.
capoot finito!

neethpathi,
again, praising SPB:
'listen to this legend's voice, at 55, he sounds like a 25 year old'
and in the same time insulting the others:
'KJY at 60 sounds like 60, Hariharan sounds too nasal, Unni Krishnan is too feminine, Shanker strain too much.'
same question to you: is SPB the lord?
if u answer with yes, then just read the message i wrote above urs...
in love,
raycas

Ar Rahman's latest album - ( Balachander movie )is quite disappointing. But the exclusion of SPB is very definitely a non-issue. SPB's rendition of his song in "STAR" really spoilt the very catchy and infectious song. One wonders why at all in the first place AR Rahman would want to associate with SPB in his albums. SPB's voice is a voice of the past. He merges well with IRajah but not AR Rahman. This is the voice of the music enthusiastic. Please pay heed to our opinion. SPB must RETIRE. His voice cannot do justice to the present age.
