I think all ARR fans who have particiapted or simply observed newtfmpage forums will agree that there is something vicious in the way his haters attack him. They start threads like "ARR is becoming unpopular" or "arr is mad", a thread that was fortunately deleted. And they also make really stupid postings against him. Some of these haters carry the "IR fan" logo, but let's keep in mind during this discussion that not all of these ARR haters are IR fans.
The thing is, if someone simply dislikes ARR's songs, u'd just leave it aside and not worry about it. I mean, if ARR fans find that Bharadwaj's songs are nice u'd listen to them. If you found Bharadwaj's songs unappealing, u'd leave them aside instead of starting threads and making postings on how Bharadwaj sucks, how he is mad, he's becoming unpopular, how his songs are falling behind in the top ten listings, share links on poor reviews on his work, etc.
But ARR haters do this and more. If they simply state "I don't like PP songs" and provide their reasons why, that's ok and I wouldn't classify them as ARR haters. But when they make comments like "RAHMAN IS A DISGRACE TO INDIAN MUSIC COS HE COPIES FROM ARABIC MUSIC
AND HE SUPPORTS THE TERRORISTS OF PAKISTAN FROM HIS EARNINGS
SO HES A BAD MUSIC DIRECTOR AND A BAD MAN" by DINESH (@ 213.121.248.90) from the thread, "Brand New Topic - ARR Vs IR!!", you know there's something more than just a dislike of ARR's music.
So let me outline the purpose of this thread:
1) To discuss what lies in the root of such hatred.
2) To share some of the worst postings made by ARR haters in this forum, attacking ARR and his fans personally. (like the one above)
3) To discuss the different ways in which ARR haters attack him.
and finally, as a bonus to this topic, we'll most likely find several ARR haters visiting this thread to make more aggravating comments not only about ARR, but also about ARR fans, me for starting this thread, and the singers who sing in ARR songs. Let's talk about it too.

Regarding what you are saying about insight, longevity, musical wisdomI would contend that for me ARR's songs are better in these categories.I can listen to any ARR album even today.
..according to Kumudam 70% of tamil people don't see that way..JAM..read them and enjoy again!

Fliflo,
Do you consider this poll to give us some kind of standard?
I know quite a number of people who consider Kumudam to be profane and offensive to dignity and don't read it all.
On the lighter side, if I had known about this poll at that time, I would have put few "Kalla vottu" at that time.:-)

Trend; My aim is not to make you accept that..but just browse, read and enjoy more than our own opinions...Well! how much to account? whole indian election system is of that way..By the by..Kumudam is the best sold weekly magazine in entire India..whether we read it or not!

Fliflo,
Most opinions seem to be taken out of newtfmpage or people who post here expressing their opinions. And we also know IR albums come first in newtfmpage. So I would say the opinions are pretty consistent with that.So I don' think there's anything new/different from newtfmpage.

I can listen to Arr's music albums any time...... I even make my own albums out of arrs collections like Female songs, classical songs, etc....
IR fans who accuse ARR or those who constantly criticise his music are jealous because there is no one to compete with ARR.... In the ladder of tamil film music... Arr seems to be in the top most whereas the others are left in the middle and particularly IR seems to be lost somewhere..... Kumudam's polls are always aimed at marketing and sales and they are not towards the reality......

THE PROBLEM IS THAT AMNY IR FANS ARE NOT ABLE TO DIGEST ARR'S POPULARITY. THEY FEEL THAT IR IS INFINITELY SUPERIOR TO ARR IN TERMS OF QUALITY, QUANTITY, VARIETY, ORIGINALITY AND CREATIVITY. THEY FEEL THAT DESPITE SUCH QULAITIES, IR IS NOT APPRECIATED TO THE EXTENT ARR IS BEING TALKED ABOUT.
THOUGH MANY OF THEIR FEELINGS ARE JUSTIFIED, IT IS NOT CORRECT FOR THEM TO VENT THIER ANGER AGAINST ARR USING SUCH VENEMOUS WORDS. AFTER ALL IS NOT RAJNI MORE POPULAR THAN KAMAL IS. AN ORDINARY "PADAYAPPA" MAY BE A BLOCK-BUSTER BUT AN EXTRA-ORDINARY "ALAWANDHAN" MAY FLOP.
SIMILARLY, MGR WAS A MORE POPULAR ACTOR THAN SIVAJI WAS. SIVAJI WAS ALWAYS NO:2 , WHATEVER HE DID. IT HAPPENS.
SO IR FANS SHOULD HAVE THE MAGNANIMITY OF ACCEPTING IR AS NO: 2, AND ACCEPT ARR AS NO:1
LET IR FANS BETTER LEARN THIS FACT.

Nothing wrong with ARR haters actually. There's always 2 sides to a coin and we better learn to live with it.
Even if doesnt apply strictly to this thread, lemme include something I felt.
I havent come across a single IR song that sounds like another MD'c composition in terms of style and so on.
When it comes to ARR I did consider ottagatha kattiko very IR'ish initially. KR's aatma song featuring Kasturi was very ARR'ish. Many YSR song sound a bit ARR'ish at times. No point talking about Vidayasagar, Deva and the likes.
Did somebody feel any IR song to be MSV'ish or KVM'ish? I cannot vouch for that, so I'm asking you guys. As far as I've heard IR has his unique stamp and still manages to hold on to it inspite of the techno onslaught. That might also be a deterrent to him as people may find it outdated/confined/restricted/narrow.

Flifo:
Come on.. Kumudham polls.. Tell me how many people buy Kumudam ?(I do..even though). How many write mails to it? (thru Indian postal service.). Now the crucial question...How many people in India browse and visit the sites to cast their valuable votes?
Don't mistake me. I certainly beleive that the sample population got from the Kumudham poll might not be the right one to have your goodness of fit .
I too visisted it, when it came. newtfmpage only led me there, I did not vote. I am sure there are many who simply might have just visisted and would have come back. Okay..just see how many are from India, chennai and how many are from outside (UK, US..). Again, as I said earlier, IR is most postular, but the Ir's image what people talk about is what was there in the late 80's. Just understand, what I wanted to say. Okay...leave it.
Other guy:(I forgot the name)
ya.."male male.." is more popular..even though Star is still popular..(PP has not yet hit the deck). But, I told this long before (months before). I have usually maintained that the real rival of IR is not ARR, its Deva. IR lost his market to Deva and not ARR. ARR does only 3 to 4 films an year and last year he did just one. Here we are discussing about the mentality or the perceptions that a HC anti ARR fan has. Even thou AR has not given many film in recent time, still AP, KK, rythm etc are popular and you can here it in shops, marriages and every where. Should I need tell you that "Ho jaare" is a sure shot song in all the places where there is crowd and dance.
I didn't like it initially, but I do like it now. Many too like it now.
Boss, I travel by train and bus daily, Cover almost 100KM daily. Generally, the youth sees IR as a veteran MD. Their contemprary fevourites are probably, Deva (Yes...mainly for Gaana), ARR, HJ, YSR and even mani sharma now.
But, More than male male, one MD who is making waves now a days in the streets silently is VS. His hits after hit has made him No. 1. We have to accept it.

Look everyone Fliflo only has one point in all his/her messages: IR is more popular and much better than ARR. Whether it's Kumudam or Amudham is of no concern here. Many ARR fans can also quote many sources to illustrate ARR is more popular. Everyone knows how statistics work. But if u did, Fliflo will have this to say to you: Those statistics don't reflect the truth due to this and this and this reason. Bcos only Kumudham does! Get it? I respect alot of IR supporters here and I'm a great fan of IR's 70-early 90's music too. But though Fliflo tries to paint others (namely, anyone who supports ARR) as fanatics and extremists, he/she should speak for him/herself on tat account!
