Remembering non-IR songs of the late 70s and Early 80s.

This thread is to bring to people's notice good non-IR songs that came out in the "golden period" of IR, when his brilliance pretty much overshadowed everything else. (Ramki ippa thiruppthiyA? :-)

  How come you guys missed 'Mrudangam Chakravarthi' (Sivaji Ganesan *er)which had at least two outstanding numbers? (MD was MSV)

  purv- There were other great songs too in Miruthanga Chakravarthi: 'Sugamaana Ragangale, isai sabaiyeri vaarungale'- a classical Ragamaligai by Vani Jairam (for KR Vijaya).
  'Abinaya Sundarai aadugindraal' - A lovely duet by Seergazhi Sivachidambaram and Vani Jairam (humming) (for Prabhu and Sulakshana).
  'Adi Vannakiliye, indru thananthaniye' a sad song by TMS-PS (for Sivaji and KR Vijaya).

  The other song you have mentioned, is actually 'Thoranam aadidum medayil nayagan nayagi' by TMS-SJ, from the film 'Vetrikku Oruvan'. Music-IR.

  hi guys, i need your help in locating a song...
  it has a nice disco/pop voilin music at first, s.p sailaja sings it with another male singer, since the radio was bad, i couldnt hear the lyrics well..but the violin music still stays in my heart... pls help me find out the song

  Mr. Ravichandran, 'Oorengum Malayaaga' from Gopurangal Saayvathillai was the biggest hit in the film from what I understand (or why would it be available on every website that plays IR's music?). Now if you would change that to 'En Purushanthaan Enakku Mattumthaan' (the song whose title later became the title of a Vijaykanth *er) or 'Vaadi Samanjha Pulla' (the dappanguthu song), I'd buy that. Just thought I'd bring it to your attention. :-)

  One of the best non-IR movie soundtracks ive heard is Aboorva Sagothareegal..
  the MD is Bappi Lahari and the same person made songs like,
  En Ninaivuthanae- S.P.B (Paadum Vanambaadi)
  Vaazhum Varai Poraadu-S.P.B (")
  also, two more promising MDs were VS Narasimman and Devendran.
  VS Narasimhan made directed songs such as Poomedaiyo Ponveenaiyo, and Megam Antha Megan frm Aayiram Pookkal Malarattum (Mohan *er)
  Devendran made songs like Manthiram Sonnean Vanthuvidu...his music is somewat similiar as in instrument usage wise, but he adds another tinge of music altogether..
  VS Narasimhan also directed one of the greatest KJ Jesudoss hits of all time..En Koil Ingae, Pen Theivan Engae from Natpu..and frm the same movie, Vanthathu Vasantha Kaalam.

  DID YOU KNOW?
  The original version of the song Onnum Theriyaatha Paappa frm the movie SooraKottai Singakutty takes 7.35 minutes? it has 4 saranams.
  And in the last part of the Song Oh Maanae Maanae Maanae frm Vellai roja, S Janaki actually makes a mistake. When S.P Bala goes," Oh Maanae Maanae Maanae", s janaki softly says, "unn.." she thought she had to say "Unnai Thaanae".
  Chandrabose's Raajavae Raaja song, the drum beat were supposed to be stimultaneous, but the backstage ppl turned on the audio drum beats too late..therefore resulting in double drum beats...not in sequence..
