Srik..that was very good..it would be very difficult to record a hard-hitting sound like this yourself. Anyways, more than the percussion, I like the composition as a whole. Since ..you have flattered me by naming the composition after my name :) Please accept the title 'mellisai ilavarasar' from me :)

except the major percussion parts which i played with the handsonic.

Hiyas People,
Finally, after a long time I managed to make something worthwhile for release. This is a demo I am creating for a TV channel. I have included only the Pallavi of the piece. I would like to have your opinion on this. The song was written and tuned by my friend Sangeetha, she is just 17 years old. She is pretty much blessed by God I would say. The orchestration as usual on computers alone. Am adding some "dynamics" (violin and mrudangam) later. Right now please listen and give your helpful, suggestions and comments.
Thanks,
Eswar

Eswar, Very Good! I am pretty impressed with the presentation and performance...Congratulations to Sangeetha...Perhaps you don't need to add any dynamics...Plucked Strings with delays and pads from Fruityloops isn't it? Beautiful presentation. Have you moved to FLStudio?
It will be unfair on the listener if they say the melody of the composition prompts quietly "Sri Ranga Ranga" of Mahanadi! Never Mind this is carnatic expression, perhaps without that it doesn't sound carnatic...Keep Going...Do More...

Aditya

Aditya,
Thanks for your kind comments. Yes, Sangeetha has done a good job in it. She has released a Malayalam light music CD. She is looking for adventurous avenues like this one.
Yes, plucked strings, delays, AbSynth, SymSynth and 3x Oscillator with a lot of phasers, flangers, enhancers and compressors :) Talk about every damn VST in FL Studio. Yes, I have moved to FL Studio. It is becoming a fine software. The next version of FL Studio (4.2) is brilliant. With 2 built in VSTs - Slayer (Guitars) and Keys (Piano).
I have some nice violin pieces in my head, I want to duplicate. Man! I don't know how to use this "nuclear" weopon in my hand. You could pretty much do everything with this one software.
Anywayz, thanks a lot for the encouragement. I hope others will check it out too and like it.
Thanks,
Eswar

Aditya..I dont know why it sounds very middle-eastern to my ears..not completely ..but like in those bible story movies.

Hello K:
Imagine laila and majnu in the subject:-)) I really enjoyed making this one.
This is not alien to us as the melodic scale is 14 melakartha Vakulabharanam:-))...ofcourse it exists in middle east with different names Alhijaz, Ahavoh Rabboh ( hebrew ), Maqam Humaayun...But some of these scales doesn't touch pa of vakulabharanam, hence ends up close to "vasantha Bhairavi" of carnatic. Leaving aside how it sounds...were you able to appreciate the music?

Aditya

Hello friends,
I am an amateur musician living in Chennai. I compose, write and sing Thamizh songs. My dream is to form a Thamizh music band/group (like we have in English and Hindi), cut albums, and provide a fresh alternative to the Thamizh film music scenario which is growing more limited (in ideas & expression) day by day. In today's scenario (sorry for generalising) where lyrics are fitted to carry the tune to the audience, I believe that a tune should carry the lyrics to the audience.
I know the Thamizhpop scene is almost non-existent today, but I believe I have something to offer, and start a new trend. I'm eager to met fellow musicians who share my enthusiasm. Basically looking for a keyboard player, guitarist, and a percussionist. Other instruments or maybe someone who can work with music software are also fine. I am a vocalist myself, but I'll also need a female vocalist. Lyricists are welcome. I didn't know where to look, until I came to this wonderful TFM forum. I hope to find people here.
My kind of music is basically light Indian melody. Influences range from MSV, IR to ARR. Basically I enjoy songs by quality, and not by composer. I'm very particular about pure Thamizh diction, and am appalled at the growing number of singers who butcher Thamizh words. Music is teamwork, but today we have people sitting in different places and hurriedly joining bits and pieces to make a song. I believe only if bands are formed, new styles can be born and songs can be written to express more than just love (which is the mantra in TFM today) There is an urgent need to create a new genre in Thamizh music. It is my dream to create such music.
I would like those interested in my idea to feel equally strongly about lyrics and diction. And preferably from Chennai, because it would be easy for us to get together and jam. Even if music is your part-time and you have some other job, you should be able to give regular time to the band.
Those interested, and are genuinely sincere about making it in music, please mail me at:
isaiyil_ivan@gamebox.net
Remember I'm no professional. I'm only starting out, and have a long way to go. Jus thought it would be easier and much more fun if I took off on my ambition with a group of like-minded musicians. Awaiting your replies...
Thank you! :-)

Divakar,
The guitar piece in your Kiravani composition was beautiful. It blended beautifully (not just 'mixing', but blending nicely with the flow of the tune). It is nice to start a day after listening to a nice work like that.

Hi Divakar,
Very nice job!!! I loved the fusion in this, meaning the melody had a Indian flavour to it but the rhythm had a hip-hop/rap kind of feel to it. Atleast thats what i felt when i heard it. Very good. This was a very lively piece. AS DA vinci said, it also blended well.
One suggetion, though. I think, this would sound good as a song. Why dont you try singing it yourself?

Da vinci, Radhika
Thanks for your comments and I am glad you liked it...
Radhika the Idea of making it a song, great suggestion, I thought about it....Experts could help me out here....if there is someone that has some lyrics popping out when they listen to this song and could capture it that would be great.....I know Udhaya writes spontaneously in this group but I am not sure he listened to the song though....
Ok as far as singing goes, assuming we have the lyrics, If you like the song Radhika, and If you want to sing I would be glad that u sing for this song....lets see how it goes
Thanks
