i think "copying" is there for a long time in tamil film history. Here we discuss the tamil songs copied from others.
1.Vedha:i know he always go for a hindi tune in his films(mostly for Modern theatres). No alterations! he just copy a full hindi song !
best examble:Manam ennum medai mele(Gil tho ye kulu yahag)
2.MSV: i hear that(from Sujatha's book"Neerkumiligal") "thulluvatho elamai" was a song copied from english to almost all famous indian langages. Is there any other songs MSV copied?
3.Illayaraja:Even the GOD of MUSIC Raja sir did some thing like this.He just used that "I love you"style from BOneyM Sunny for "darling darling"in priya.I have heard a totally same song like "Kanavu kanum valkkai yavum" in Hindi also.(i forgot the film).
and i dont know who is the MD for the song"ehu pal vadiyum mugam! ethai parpathu than sugam".But i heard the same song in an english film.
4.ARR : i was told from my friends that he did copying intelligently.drum beats and some music styels from cassettes like "enigma, ace of base".And the humming before the song "thillana thillana" is a 100%copy from the film"the island of Dr.Mozeru".
5.SA Rajkumar : a lot of help from hindi! best example "mallikai puve malligai puve parthaya" from "didi tera thevaru thevana"
5.DEVA:hee..hee..the master.(better we see how many songs he did on his own instead of seeing how many songs he copied!)
like wise there is a lot of songs are copied from Tamil to Hindi also..
Now its your turn friends....

I just hear People saying in his forum that ARR copies. And they Quote examples.
Can anyone please get the SOUND CLIPS and let others know what realy has been copied.
That will very effective way of accusing some one.

Kumar,
I'm not here to make sure that everybody accepts whatever I claim.....I know it's a copy and it's upto the individuals to believe it...
I've given the Composer's name and the number. Interested ppl can search and find them.

Shankar,
In there past we have seen balant accuses in the forum with in TFM. The individuals can evaluvate since both are TFM. Many times we just laugh at it,thinking how baseless they are. If this is the case with in TFM.. how to beleive other sources.
But some people just keep telling last fall I saw a opera..and it was same as ARR's BGM or IR's Song. I think anyone, who blames has a responsibility to give some minimum references to their claim. Otherwise its nothign more than mud slinging.
why not ppl interested in accusing not let others hear it?
:)

Guys:
I too assumed that most of you had already listened to albums like "Deep Forest". I was not able to find the sound clip on the Web, but I can tell you the name of the song after loking at my CD (or maybe someone else here can!)
1. You can check out this link for the song "I'll remember" by Madonna. If YOU remember, the beat of this song was used by ARR in his "Thaneerai kaadhalikkum meengal" from Mr.Romeo in the second interlude. I am guessing that this was also "sampled" by ARR.

2. The opening jazz piano piece in "Hello Mr.Ethirkachi" from Iruvar is inspired(!)from the song "Memphis Stomp" by Dave Grusin in the soundtrack of The Firm (the Tom Cruise movie)

You can also download the same song in mp3 format from
http://cheap-cds.com/surf/disps/038206
3. The bass piece of "Kuluvalilae" is the same as that of the song "Rescue me" by Fontella Bass. You can download it from here again.
4. The song Srikant was talking about is from the movie "Hatari" and music composed by Mancini. Check the clip at these sites

I guess ARR has used only the bass piece from this song.
And as everyone knows he also used the bass from the "Ace of Base" song.....Guess ARR has a weakness for "inspired" bass pieces!
And hey for the record..I don't mean no offence to no one too. :-))))

IQ, thanks for the links. and which are the tracks in Deep forest and ace of the base?.
Reagrding sample CDs, it might be legal to use them, but are they ethical?

Using rhythm samples and base samples is not copying. If that is so one can extend the the same logic to say I.R. copied traditional folk and Mozart.I dont think so.

I agree with u saambar, but ARR blatantly copies tunes / melodies ( which IR never does ).

Another thought.Using any used chord is copying :using known ragas is copying.Dont critisise.Enjoy music. If you cannot dont listen to it.

mmmmm....how was mugam's title score!..you would have enjoyed it!....and thougth it was great score!...do you know where it was lifted from , if not go thru some threads here you will know it.
everyone lifts, Why blame arr alone.

Just out of curiosity, where did IR copy the Mugam score from? I would appreciate if the claimer gives me the name of the composer and the composition the score was lifted from.

The drum beats that comes in the prelude of 'akkadanu naanga nada potta" = the beat that comes in the first interlude of 'malargale malargale idhu enna kanava" = the beat at the start of the song 'love of Common people" by Paul young.
As far as I know both Ir and ARR are experts in recycling tunes in a very adept manner, u hardly realise that they have been recycled. They ususally don't blatantly lift tunes like deva but
if u hear some songs u can see some traces of old tunes just here and there- bits and pieces copying.
for example in the 'niram pirithu paarthen' song in Time in the 2 charanams the 2nd lines i.e.
'kaalame kanindhadhu kaalame thaduthathu' or something like that. that line is very similiar to 'manadhil osaigal idhazhil mounangal' from the song 'idhu mounamaana neram' from salangai oli.
people who have keyboards can easily confirm this
by playing out the notes of the song.
So even a great composer like IR just cannot avoid being influenced by his own music after some time. it is easy to shut your ears and sit in a sound proof room and compose, but it is not easy to shut your mind off completely from iinfluences stemming from your previous compositions.
But the difference is that while IR is showing this symptoms after 20 or so years, ARR has already started showing it after composing for less than 50 films.
But one more point in ARR's favour might be that even while IR has been accused of blatant copies like 'kanavu kaanum' etc.(he might have copied for whatsoever reason), I have not found a single claim here of ARR blatantly copying a previous tune note by note.
It does'nt make sense to talk of deva's copies in this thread, IMO, because he deserves a separate thread for this and I believe such a thread already exists.

Mugaum title lifted from
"Pastorale" by Igor Stravinksy. He has used the same chord progressions and built an Indian melody on top of it.
V...neer yaro!...adhu enna neja totu, kalathotu...:-)), yes it was taken from the above score., what you me do now, like you guys heard the so called samples!.. I heard this score.
I posted this afer seeing some cruel remarks on samples etc. Yes telephone mani pol base parts alone sounds like ace of base!...what do you want to do?....now!..
till today, we are saying the same thing about arr..he lifted some samples etc,
why are samples sold! then...can some one come with an answer!...all the keyboard beats/sounds,..
(including the hey ram songs) uses samples!....
infact arr at times creats his own samples (other dont even think of!), like the tambourine sample in kanalane is not found any where in any samples lib, he should have sampled it himself. I checked for this sound in many music shops in chicago, ny etc to get that sample!..till date no one has it and few told it was a private sample , meaning created by the composer himself. On arr has to answer this
V....I dont support Blind bashing of any mds,
