Sandiyar renamed as Virumandi and cassette released

The most awaited sandiyar album is released .I heard all the songs.It has totally ten songs out of which 6 songs are sung by kamal himself and two are sung by illayaraja and 2 numbers by shreyaghosal.All the songs are perfect folk and 100% traditional tamil folk songs and the lyrics are excellent in the madurai slang and all are situational songs.I will meet u again with a detailed review.buy the album immediately for die-hard fans of IR

  ya ya...here it goes again... telling ARR fans are critizing the songs, bcoz of vaitheruttchal..
  
  as if IR fans never jump to ARR threads and critize for nothing, but just bcoz of vaitheruttchal.....
  
  if the music is really good, then any music fans will enjoy the songs....
  
  I haven't heard the songs yet..
  if the songs are really good, for sure we, ARR fans will enjoy it...
  
  One important thing..ARR fans never condemn IR, as we have high respect for him..... BUT its is you IR fans, who always condemn ARR for nothing,and cause uneccessary bashing..

  Hi all IR fans. Even though me being a ARR fan I got this albumn just expecting a good music from IR. Me also being a great fan of kamal was also one of the reason to buy this. The first song was toooo good but IR cudnt keep it going in the rest of the albumn. Very bad composition and not many IR type of songs. I really feel very bad for all Kamal and IR fans and especially for Kamal. If this movie is a flop it will be because of the music. Anyways Kamal will make up for it. Enjoy music forever. God save IR.

  I am great fan of IR but this albumn is just rubbish. He has really let all the IR fans down. Some road side composers wud have done a better job. Looks like an albumn for a death ceremony. IR is gone. Hope his son will do some justice to TFM. Sorry to say this to all IR fans.
  
  So, tell me, are you correct in saying that ARR fans never condemn IR? You can see it for yourself.
  
  Anyway, I bought the album and am quite enjoying it. Should definitely make a larger impact on screen.

  Like IR was the reason for the fall of MSV, ARR is for IR. While the listening trend has changed (perhaps after ROJA), ones who have listened and appreciated IR's music through the years, will find it difficult accept other types of music. No doubt ARR is a good music director but I'm not sure if any one would listen to his music 20 years down the line (IRR and MSV along with KV Mahadevan would live through their music for many years). IR's music, especially his folk based songs, touch the soul (perhaps the ones born and brought up at Chennai may not appreciate this). Listen to Mudhal Mariyadhai. Yes, he has his share of rubbish, but almost all of his songs are good.While you thought he is gone for good, Pithamagan's one single song told us what he is capable of and what we all are missing for some time now. The recent music, save and except a few, are rubbish (ARR and IR's son Yuvan contribute quite a bit to this). Another thing that has happened to Tamil Music, is the aging of SPB, Janaki, Jesudass, etc. and the introduction of north Indians. The song where tamil is scr..ed the most becomes a hit. What a shame. Virumandi songs are not bad. Perhaps the choice of singers was. But then some of IR's music become better by listening to it often (esp. after the movie). It may be one of that kind. Lets accept IR is a genius and hope he continues to contribute.

  Listening to the songs for the second time and my verdict this is the best of Raja in recent times......without doubt he has done a great job and hopefully kamal has justified the songs in the movie, all signs show towards another megahit like Devar Magan....

  When are you guys going to realize that Ilayaraja composes music for the mivie and not for a CD album???? Ilayaraja is a composer and not a pop artist. Shake your tiny brains and think. Kamal, as a director and as an actor got the best out of IR for this movie (as in his own words, 'I got the new year's gift from Raja sir!'). I can somewhat visualize how kamal would have handled these songs and to someextent even understand the story line from these songs.. And I am sure the BGM is going to be a master-piece. Can't want to see the movie...
  
  If you ARR fans want to write $hit about IR, go ahead.......bcos we that you don't know anything about music and about film making....

  Very bad composition and not many IR type of songs. I really feel very bad for all Kamal and IR fans and especially for Kamal. If this movie is a flop it will be because of the music. Anyways Kamal will make up for it. Enjoy music forever. God save IR.
  
  This album will sell more than all arr's recent albums put together :))

  I personally didn't like IR giving most of the songs to kamal. 'Unnai vida' song could have been sung by a better singer. He has sung the maada vilakke song quite well will a lot of emotion.
  
  As I said before, music is as per the demand of the movie. Kamal would have felt that the story and the character demanded that voice. Who knows. He is the producer and he is the director. Anyway, Maestro has done a great job. The tunes and music are quite different from his earlier movies.

  After listening to enough of times in a Day i would like to present my comments on Virumandi.I never heard such a kind of folk treat from any music director across the globe.Guys i won't say not to compare any of the previous works of Isaignani with this.Compare with them, but listen to the songs carefully and try to analyse the effort in the background.Like Carnatic and Hindustani we don't have any patterns for the folks.Its about the courage,tears,smile about the so called villagers(Karisakttu boomikku sonthakaarargal).Devar Magan is a class on its own.But the versatility what Virumandi has its far good than Devar Magan and any of Raja's previous works.Our culture is crafted with love(kadhal),tears(kanneer),courage(veeram).Music of Virumandi portrayed every nuance of it.
  
  1) Onna Vida... Wov.. what a melody.. do u think Inji Iduppazhagi can compete with this one.. just wait for the picturisation.Then the people here talked about the pronunciation of Shreya ...huh.. r u guys from Madurai district or what? to comment on her pronunciation.. she took a lot of effort and did a great job... look how she pronounces jenmam as senmam... and jathi as saathi... do u think she killed Madurai tamil.. no way.. don't just close your eyes and blame it on the singers.Even if she is not aware of that Kamal and Raja will never accept that as they very well know about Madurai tamil. 5/5
  
  2) Anna Lakshmi... a great teasing song.Veerathayum kaathalayum kalanthu sollum arumayana song.People are talking about the fusion as just fusing the instruments, here Isaignani tried to fuse the emotions.Kaalaya adakki thaan veeran enbadhai nirubithuvittu, athae samayam kalaikku sonthakariyaana heroine meethu kaathal vasapaduvathai arumayaaaga solli irukkum paaadal. 4.5/5
  
  3) Nethiyila Pottu Vai... here we go.. Guys have u ever heard about jallikattu.Its just a function where the people fight with bulls in the arena.Before the bulls are sent into the circle, they will decorate them with pottu.This sing portrays that.Isaignani blend Oyilattam number beautifully into this song.Even its a bit it adds a lot of value to the scene. 4.5/5
  
  4.)Magarasiyae.... Its an interesting bit.I never heard any other MD have tried an oppari paadal like this.Amazing effort.Oppari is the singing way of shedding tears on the death of someone.Theni Kunjaramma have done an excellent job.Here also Isaignani tried a fast paced beat to say this oppari is not for the sad thing happened but for the betrayal done to them by the young lady.You can consider this oppari is out of anguish. 5/5
  
  5.)Karumathur katukkullae.... here comes the history of virumandi and paeykaman.What a song..which totally brings you the picture infront,of their history.See the modulations that the music undergoes in the song.When the lyrics go as pethapillay thudipathai kandu pethavargal patharuvathu pol, u can feel the softness in the music."Virumandi and Paeykaman porkalam poondanar" , when the liric gets in there, u can feel the vibration.Amazing is the right word.Only a person who knows this history can compose a music like this.TamilNadu is a treausure of these kind of stories.All we need is to bring that to light in an effecient way.Isaignani have tried this in Nasar's Devathai, where Gunasekaran sings about Sasangan.Kamal have done that in an effecient way using Isaignani as a tool. 5/5
  
  6) Andha Kandamani .... Title song... Intha padai pothuma appadinnu ketkira maathiri oru song.Isiagnani eppadi kurala maathi paadi irukaar.With 7.1 DTS intha song theatrela miratta poguthu paarunga. 5/5
  
  7) Mada Vilakkae .... Nanaga nanillai thaaye(thoongathae thambi thoongathae) and Amma endru(Mannan) kind of songs which tells about the greatness of mother.This is one such song.But see the upbeat and the way that kamal rendered this song.Music describes the pain of the kid, when his mother left him alone in this world. 5/5
  
  8) Kombulae Poova Suthi... i think i don't need to talk much about this song.This song is the best pick of the album, with a different kind of musical arrangement.Naatupura vathiyanguladan Saxophone inaithu oru kalakku kalaki irukuthu paarunga intha songula.Just takes the listeners into the crowd at Jallikattu grounds. 5/5
  
  9) Karbagraham Vitu Samy Veliyerathu.... Typical thiruvizha song.Saamy vetaikku pogompothu kodangi adichu paaduvaanga.Isaignani,Kamal sernthu murasu kotti paadiyurukaanga. 5/5
  
  10) Chandiyera Chandiyera... Great song from shreya but i prefer Kamal's version of Anna Lakshmi over this for his rendition. 4.5/5
  
  How we people tell Isiagnani had excelled in Sindhu Bairavi with lots of experiments on Carnatic Music, Virumandi is full of experiments and surprises.He has introduced oppari paadal but with a different flavour.Oyilattam is introduced as a jallikattu song.Peykaman koothu in a much sophisticated version.These songs are nowhere less than Sindhu Bairavi in terms of experiments.I second the words of Kamal, that Isaignani at his best in Virumandi.
