John , I am sure u are right about song's style. I just meant the 'jumps' u are so comfortable playing that song would make u a champion in ragtimes as well. I remember similar jumps when I played Joplin's maple leaf rag ;)

Being ardent fans of Tamil music their next plan includes releasing a totally unplugged version of Illayaraja’s hit Tamil film songs. ‘‘We also have a couple of our own compositions which we are planning to record shortly,’’ says Leslie.

RJAY & Other folks:
I have a genuine question. Even today's youngest generation at north india are highly familiar with old hindi songs. They are comfortable to sing them / listen to them at any point of time. Honestly, This is not the situation with TFM lovers. Many( Late 60s & 70s) are not even familar with the compositions of MSV & older composers. Most younger generation are not at all familiar with ilayaraja itself. Why is this with TFM lovers? Are we not missing out something to explore & extract the best of all eras? People like Ilayaraja & Rahman draw lots of inspirations with old composers ( thats again due to their attached memories with those inspired songs). May you please provide an insight for this?

GQ: :)
We might like nilave eninam nerungathe for its sheer beauty of bhageshree, however my cousin who is 17 likes "al tota bopathy" better for its dance and speed. :), I feel There is nothing in his music taste.Simply times change we need to go with it. On tamil and hindi issue, If I could get good sweet water just at the 10th feet why should I dig more? Hindi music might have exhausted, it forces everyone to dig deep to find some :)

Srik,
Water example was really cool. I totally agree to your view, Perfect!. Atleast I'm glad that the youngest generation are growing with AR Rahman. As you pointed out, They are missing the best usage of classical & everlasting melodies of some of the greatest composers, like Nilave ennidam ( Bhagaeshree - MSV ), Koothathile kovil pura ( Bhageshree - Ilayaraja). Let TFM hv water to substitute draughted TN :D

Genuine question
also we should remember we cant really judge a compose only by his scores what I mean mani sharma gave 'Althota bhupathi' but also gave a super melody 'Meliname' both where hit.
I think much is determined by producer, director the composers say is kind of limited given the commerical aspect of it.

Genuine , thanks for answering my unasked query. In ROS thread, long back, there was a discussion by yesteryear jhambavans , why IR had not composed any song in Bhagasri and I was confused, as all along I had been thinking 'Kootathile' was Bhagasri.
Now ,Iam confirmed that it is indeed bhagasri.
