oops, couple of mistakes on the saalaigalum, first of all the spelling should be "saalaigaLum"; secondly, the line should be saalaiyum to be grammatically pure, but I see this distortion of grammar all the time. So, the second part is the compser's call.

Thanks for getting back. You are right about the quality of sound and soundcard of PC. But what I meant was little different.
"How to get the same instruments from the keyboard into the software in the PC?... "
Because, the instruments in the software in PC are completely different from that in the keyboard. I had sequenced some songs in my keyboard.I want to load the instruments of keyboard as they are to the PC, and play these songs in the PC.
Hope I am clear.
cheers

Satsona,
You cant. MIDI lets you send events. The sound comes out based on the sound source. If you use PC, it use PC sound card's on board synthesizer.
If you use your keyboard, it uses the sound bank from the keyboard.
If you want your PC to work like keyboard, you need to look at software synthesizers that are high quality.

Satsona,
Sridhar made it clear. It is the difference in the sound card and the sound bank of the keyboard. I have faced the same problem earlier.
I have a question too. If I am using 'line in' for inputting the output from my keyboard, I get only a mono sound, but when I use the mike input, I get sound in both the speakers. Am I missing anything ?

The input going to line in should be 1/8" stereo phone type. I assume that our keyboard has two line out for 1/4" type.
So your cable should be
1/8" stereo phone plug on one side and 2 of 1/4" type lug on other side.

Look for it in Guitar Center/Sam Ash etc.

Divakar,
One of these days we'll have to take up a collection to set you up with your own reliable home page. Meanwhile, I can't access your tuneforlyrics link. I've heard of reclusive artists, but you take it one step further and hide your works so well! Can you either put it up in your mp3.com page or your regular homepage in geocities where I just listened to some of your other tracks? Thanks.

nevermind, I got to listen to it in the corrected link (kodumaikkaararyaa nee). I like what you have so far, I can almost feel the piercing rain pellets, please complete it if you can.

Mahati likes this Beautiful tune in hindolam scale which is applied in the context of pre-written lyrics...starts with very randomly ordered hindolam notes...choosing santoor with pads is very nice - then it flows into a structured 7 beat rhythm cycle...this is where the voice sings the actual tune for the lyrics...
Note on which pads stand just before the structure rhythm cycle starts seems to be Ni of hindolam scale and this is interfering with the ears...This kind of interference occured at 0:27:00 and 0:33:00
Good Job and would like to listen more...from different musicians...

Udhaya and Mahati,
Thanks for listening to that song and your comments. I have based it on Hindolam and the mixing of the bass strings somehow didnt turn out good. It does interfere at quite a few places...I am gonna work on it again and charanam might have some surprises

Sridhar,
Thanks. I took the wire to Radio Shack and found that the pin that goes into the PC was a mono pin. I bought a stereo adaptor to it and it works fine.
Let me ask one more question.
Would the quality of sound be different in different sound cards when I am recording as a wave file through 'line in' too ? I am asking since I bought an AWE Gold sound card, but my PC seems to be a little inflexible to adapt to it. I was wondering if the quality of sound would be better with it, and if so, I thought of going to some professional hard ware guy to fix it in my PC. Please let me know if you know it could make a difference.
Thank You.

What you really do need is something like:

professional card..way better than any consumer grade card.

Is the seven beat cycle easy to adopt when you compose to lyrics ?:) I have seen three or four versions already in such attemps (I am including the versions of another attempt elsewhere too).
Divakar, you created the effect of a rainy background nicely. Hope to hear your final version soon.
Jay, Thanks. Seems like there is no end to swiping your credit card if you want to make music :).

When you correct mistake, repost. It is difficult to look for the lyrics and then search for errata.

Sridhar,
I changed one word from plural to singular and corrected the spelling if it was used as plural. It's the word "saalaigaL" in the second-last line of the first stanza.
Again, you're proving to be the one person who's even lazier than I.
