The first 4-5 bars of 'vaseegara...' sound exactly like the start of the charaNam of 'aye mEra dil pyAr ka deewAnA' by Asha in 'Don'. Otherwise, 'vaseegara' is a song with a good melody line.

Hi,
well! back to my favorite ARR "inspired" songs
" Oh! bhavuree" in daud is exactly similar to "oh! sathiree ... tere bina bi kya jeena"
he seems to have RD burman running on the back of his mind quite a lot i guess ( remember the similarity between "varayo thozhi" in jeans and "Oh! mere sona re sona re" from that dev anand movie )
some one shld have given him feed bak on this. which is why he now has shifted to the stance of " I dont listen to contemporary music anymore"
bye

It strick me sometime back that the first few notes of "dhevan thantha veenai" from unnai naan santhithen by IR sounds pretty close to "re man sur mein ga" by asha bhonsle and scored by RDB. since IR's respect for RDB is well known, I wouldnt be surprised to know if that song actually inspired him.

hey man i am a silent viewer of newtfmpage. I like to say that copying in TFM. One of the best background score from the film Robinhood is been used entirely for the film Thiruda Thiruda by ARR. What r the fans of ARR going to tell???

Hey Suresh!
That sounds really interesting man. Could you gimme some other details...so that I could post both the audio tracks here?
Can I have the name of the piece in Robinhood? Is it available in the soundtrack of the movie? And where was it copied in Thiruda thiruda?

Heyt Karthik,
Have u seen the film Thiruda Thiruda!!. The cart Chasing scene!! (and most of the scenes.. although all the CBI chasing scenes)). ARR flicked the original soundtrack (i mean the BGM) for the film Robinhood and used it in the BGM of Thiruda Thiruda. There is no doubt about it.
I can prove this buddy. The origanl Cassette of Robinhood is still with me.
ARR Suckers!!
What r u going to tell

Yeah I agree. ARR suckers! (Whatever that means!)
I have the DVD of Thiruda Thiruda and Robinhood. Have seen both of them lots of times as they are quite old now. What you are confusing as copying is the kind of sweeping violins used in both - this is very common in orchestral pieces.
I'm not going to 'tell' anything, incidentally!

hmm!
i did listen to the back ground scores of robinhood and thiruda thirudaa(I have both in video cassettes). I know the BGM of thiruda.. thirudaa too well, it was also used for SAARC games in madras! by ARR.
i think karthik is correct, except for the big violin thing there is not much in common. I dont think I wud classify this as "copy" even "inspired" would be harsh.
Thirudaa thirudaa BGM was really cool stuff according to me its the best ARR has done so far. I wud want more than a remote similarity like this to really cast suspicions on that BGM.
there r 3 sets of BGM he uses in that movie
1) when the robbers actually steal the money frm the train (1st scene)
2) the one used in most of the movie whenever there is chasing
3) the one used when all the 4 of them go downhill on a cycle when an elephant chases them (this one is cool)
in a few places chandralekha was used in BGM. the best pieces I loved was
1) "the constant hummming of "suryoo suryoo sambeee" in the BGM when anu agarwal walks towards the villains "adi aal" with the computer card in her purse(its actually not there) and a guy on top of a building is aiming at her.
2) The "aathukullai ayilai meenu" song when the truck is pulled out of the pond by elephants... manirathnam just farted all over us in that scene but BGM was cool
oh! well thiruda thiruda always get me going wild.. i dunno why

Hi,
The starting music from the title song of Annamalai was inspired from the 1st movement of Beethoven's Fifth's Symphony. This item was in the 'To be confirmed' list. So, it can be put in the regular list. Thanks.

Bharath:
Did you notice the similarity with the track 'eye of the tiger' in the BGM which comes when the robbers are robbing the train from Nasik, right in the beginning of the movie?
Eye of the tiger was by the group 'Survivor' and was also being used as the BG in a tyre advt, I think Dunlop tyres!
Its not exactly same, but ARR might have been inspired by it.

good one! I also felt the same thing. "eye of the tiger" by survivor is one of my fav. songs.
It does sound so similar, especially the heavy guitar, when the robbers do that countdown , b4 the bomb kept on the train blasts!.(one should look at the number of shots mani + p.c.sri combo showed us in that scene, that movie is a visual treat)
I am not sure if ARR got inspired, if we look hard enough the same kind of music should be in a lot of Eng. movie BGM's. I guess its too tempting and catchy a tune to stay away from it.
i saw it one of the honda advt's or car dealer advts abt a week ago.

Hi,
I am currently listening to "mercury pookal... we want power" song by ARR from Ratchangan.
the "inpiration " source of this song has always been touted as " we will rock u" by queen. but now I am listening closely paying attention to small details .
I see a small string instrument in the back ground and its exactly similar to the guitar work of peter gabriel's "digging in the dirt"
now this string instrument is used continuously in the ARR song (albeit hidden in the Back ground)
but once u spotted the sound then the whole song sounds like PG song. I am not even suggesting that this is a 'copy' by I am sure now that ARR listened to the pG song and wanted to use it.
but u know.. what I am beginning to like ARR's taste in english music.. I loved PG's "digging in the dirt" its a good song.

Starting of MGR's 'Naan Aanaiyittaal' song is copied from Joaquin Rodrigo's Guitar Concerto - Aranjuez (sounds like Orange Juice!)
check the 1st movement of 'Concierto de Aranjuez'
