Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Here is what i found::
Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.
Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.
In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.
Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.
For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

hey guys the movie is not worth watching in the first week trust me. i can't even believe it's shankar's movie. lol the computer model for girlfriend song is so funny, i mean anyone could'e done that with 3DMAX. Bullet time effect is so silly, lol it's so annoying. he used few cameras to get this done so you can see the frames move and it's just not the same as matrix(no where close to it). usually shankars movies doesn't have good story line and boys is no different. it's no where close to the old shankar's movie. trust people who watched it wouldn't give you good feedback and so not alot of people willl watch it. don't believe me go watch it for yourself. btw the background music was nothing special maybe because arr didn't do the bg music or DID HE?

I felt that BOYs was a decent movie a good attempt at using new techniques.Agreed with thematrix1298 the matrix style camera usage was over used in the "ale ale" song. Overall the movie was very entertaining,at least to me ad many others in the theater enjoyed it too. This movie really isn't the type that everyone will like. I think this review http://www.rediff.com/movies/2003/aug/30boys.htm is the best at pointing out how the movie was.

The movie is bombed at the box office. Mr. MADDY, Shankar has tried to imitate Selvaragavan (TI), what is your say?

My review:
There was so much hype for this movie. I have liked shankar's earlier movies, though they were cinematic, they still had a good theme and the way the director handled it was new and good.
That is not the case in this movie. It is sorry excuse of a movie. I am terribly disappointed..all the more because shankar is a director of repute.
This movie justifies that as teenagers you can, go and take advantage of women..violate them, you can call a prostitute home, you can pretty much do anything you want and that can be attributed to your age...That is the god damn justification...if the director things that any sane person is going to agree with him..he is out of his mind!!!
As a teenager/anybody..you must be accountable for your actions...there is a character of vivek's which is most immature adult that I have ever seen. he will take the side of the stupid bunch of people irrespective of what they do...
This will only influence the teenage boys all the more..to involve themselves in eve teasing and all other social evils that are the bane of society.
Lastly, the movie is handled in a crass manner. there is no values...there are no morals...
The cine industry should not be aloud to shoot in public areas..particulary when it comes to damaging public property..all ready most of chennai's public systems are in neglect...add to that all the damage done by these cine stunts that take place in the public roads...I know they pay for this, but the damage is already done and it never gets repaired.
The last thing i want is for this movie to do well..becauase then that will show the status to which our society has stooped to...unfortunately the technical aspects of the movie are good...the music is the saving grace of the movie and due to this, it might become a hit.

Well if anyone sees the bits songs that were in the movie out on cd tell me because i especially enjoyed themI like the ayyapan song it was good. Also I am enjoying the boys songs more so now after seeing the movie then before. Even my little brother who is 13 and doesn't even understand tamil well really enjoyed the movie. Now even he is listening to the songs. We live in the USA and many kids are dragged by their parents when a tamil movie is screened here which is not often just the major movies. And most of the kids do not enjoy the movies but in this case the kids really enjoyed the movie

Hi Folks,
I'm writing from Coimbatore,India.Let me clarify everyone Boys has opened for bumper opening.tickets are sold out for Rs.300- Rs 600 which is unbelievable for a film which doesn't have a star value.
I watched the movie in coimbatore Baba complex which is one of the best theatre in coimbatore.Film released in 5(not for Rajini films also) theatres in cbe(Which is higly impossible in cbe). It's a festival time in theatres.Agreed film cannot be seen by family. But u have to remember that, now no families are coming to theatres to watch the movie.Only the age group from age 15 to age 30 are coming to theatres.Shankar, the master mind given the fil to young mass.I'm sure there will be a repeated audience for "Boys".Particularly in cbe which is the city of young folks, the film has got a tremendous response.Shankar has done it again for the 6th time.Hats of to him as tamil film industry is going in rough patch.Any comments are welcome

I have a question, how many rs. = one US dollar?Just want to see how ticket prices compare between the two. Here for an English movie it is $5 and for an english movie depending on who is showing the movie. Here we have a group of people who will buy the reel and put it on for cheap if you're a member and sometimes the Hindi theater will buy the reel and charge more. So here it varies for tamil movies from $4-$10.

curses,
i went for the movie yest....Prarthana....with my parents!! ... the last scene did not matter to me coz we were in our car then...but the one which mattered the most was that "Rani-Munna" scene!
disappointed,
Shankar has just portrayed what todays youth are up to....i dont think anybody can disagree with that even though the things have been exaggerated in a few scenes...then Shankar has just dealt with how these BOYS taste success despite all odds...i don see anything wrong with what he has done...i am sure all the fun in the first half was just to create a better feel - i mean like these guys have to go through so many things later
though the story can be told in a single line, i liked the manner in which the movie has been taken...if only a few scenes were edited, the movie can be definitely watched with the family...some of them are embarassing if u go with ur family, but fun if u go with ur friends
and ofocurse....the music will definitely be remembered more than anything else in this movie

Guys just wondering why ARR didn't compose the Ayyapa song...could it be just to avoid any religious sentiments?...i dunno...i am not provoking anythign here..just curios..may be ARR..purposely..not to hurt anyone's feeling decided to pass that song (along with few other BGM) to Paveen Mani?..
could it be?

I watched in Bangalore Innovative Multiplex Complex. Ticket prices are Rs 70 and Rs 90. I liked the movie and songs. Picturization was not that impressing. But like the songs more after seeing the movie. In Multiplex, they use Laser Disc for movies. movie was very good.

I agree with disappointed for the most part !
Getting a prostitute home may not be too much, but showing every action 5 times (once for each boy) gets soooo boring after some time. And predictable too ! Dialogues such as "adhu perisarthukku illada, ghetti arthukku" were the height of rudeness. A dikki lona or couplings in gentleman, coupled with the generous cleavage of heera were lapped up because of the able support from goundamani senthil comedy. The comedy in Boys was in lots of places like trying to tickle the audience with an unsterilized needle...resulting in bloody patches :( The presence of Sujatha or Vivek does not do much to alleviate the pain. Senthil and Rahman are the saving graces in the movie !
May be because I went to the screening with so much expectation on Shankar I feel so let down. Anyway, the movie is not worth the first week bumper prices.

indeed surprising that no one (including me!) talked about the perfomance of the 5 boys and the girl.....i feel they did a get job....perhaps the Rahman and Shankar factor overshadows their acting abilities....the 5 boys esplly had performed very well
Paran,
where did u get that news abt the Ayyappa Song?
sorry if u have mentioned it already....i havent been following these pages as closely as i used to..
