Padma Bhushan award for K.J. Yesudas

K.J. Yesudas is among 27 eminent Indians selected for the Padma Bhushan award this year. The names of the winners were announced as part of the Republic Day celebrations. This is a very fitting award for one of the greatest singers that India has ever produced. Congratulations, KJY!!

  Apart from being one of THE singers, he has sung in all Indian languages except two which i forget (this was in one of his interviews)
  
  He has composed his own krithis and music albums
  
  above all he is a GENIUS in all sorts.

  we can as well add MSV, KVM, IR, TMS, PS, SJ in the category of Sardar Patel, Netaji like of "noteable misses for Bharath Ratna"; Leo Tolstoy, Mahatma Gandhi "noteable misses for Nobel".
  
  I guess this is bit vague. The intention was --these MDs and Singers are "noteable misses" for the Padhma awards just like there are "noteable misses" for Bharatha Rathna and Nobel.
  
  Isaipriyan if this caused you to post then i apologize for this confusion. But i guess mine was not the only cause as already there were some posting that suggested Bharatha Rathna for our MDs and/or Singers.
  
  I also concur with you that Bharatha Rathna "should be/should have been" given only to very very highly deserving people who served people more( i don't know how to define this more but i guess you people understand what im trying to say) like Patel, Netaji etc.
  
  Bharatha Rathna is no way like Kalaimaamani coz kalaimaamani is indeed given for art field where as Bharatha Rathna is above all.
  
  In that way I feel conferring BharathaRathna on MSS was bit more, but definitely a better choice than a few earlier choices. If it is for MSS then definitely the same is the case for LM also.

  I agree with you.I know that kalaimamani is for artistes only as the name suggests,but if you see the standard of the recipients of this award you can understand what dignity it holds.
  Talking about padma awards, like the national cine awards committee this padma awards committee is also politically influenced and thats the reason why we see so many great names are missing in that list.

  Truly he deserves "DadaSaheb Phalke Award" this time. Kerala has produced too many world class artiste. Yet no one was awarded a Phalke Award. Its a Pity.

  YOU MAY BE AWARE THAT JAYACHANDRAN IS THE BEST SINGER INDIA EVER HAD SEEN.CAN YOU ANY OTHER PERSON WHO CAN REPLACE JAYACHANDRAN?
  You must understand the awards are not reaching hands which really deserve it.Most recent example is about our dearest I M VIJAYANCHETTAN.He is not having Arjuna award.
  
  Analogous to that Jayachandran is not given BHARATHA RATNA for his swaravaibhavam and music in the film music.Music is a matter close to his heart...he is living for music and not for money,fame,power or awards like padmabhushan.
  We will give padmabhushan to him..we the people.He is the ONLY person who have eligibility to be even nominated for that.Yeshudas or who all may be there sings well but jayachandran's voice is special...so special.
  
  Jayachandran performs the best along with it he is very humble,simple and good.He should be given nothing below BHARATH RATNA.It is an insult to the great singer.

  I.M vijayan is the greatest thing happened in Indian football.But Arjuna award was given to someone else.
  
  Bobby alousius is a very good athlet.But chance was given to some less talented one.
  
  P.T.Usha was the best athlet india had ever seen.She was insulted recently.
  
  Kapil did more for india but sachin is more famous.
  
  Similarly jayachandran is the greatest thing happened in Indian music but award goes to yeshudas.
