Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....
Also; use this thread to discuss this album..
Here is what i found::
Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.
Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.
In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.
Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.
For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

Shankar’s musical feast Boys is in the post production stages. the movie gets
ready for release on August 15.
Shankar, who is always secretive about his films kept everyone in the industry
guessing about the story and songs in the film. Now after the audio launch it
is clear that the music has lived up to Shankar's quality. The music of
A.R.Rahman is being widely appreciated by the youth.
The stills from the film have been out and the media campaign for Boys has also
started. Producer A.M.Ratnam is personally supervising the campaign of this big
budget film with an all-new star cast.
Meanwhile Siddharth, Manikantan, Sai, Bharat, Nakulan and Harini are on a new
high as they hope that Boys will be the stepping-stone to stardom. The Mumbai
based model Harini who appeared with Amitabh Bachchan in the Parker pen ad is
all excited about the film as she plays the heroine’s role.
Said Harini: "Shankarji has done a fantastic job and I am flooded with offers
from all corners but I will decide my future plans only after the release of
Boys."

Boys looks like it will be a Thulluvatho Ilamay type of movie! Isn't Devyani's brother acting in the film? (Nakul)

Boys -First Tamil film to escape Piracy
At last it looks like technology has put an end to the film piracies, that certainly crushed the movie makers for a long time and Director Shankar’s Boys has been the first movie to have used the cutting edge Digital technology, which makes it unable to copy the data’s of the film to a VCD. Shankar, who is known for grandeur, has made this film with all new faces except Vivek. Any idea about the cost of the movie! Hold your breaths, its 22 Crores . Boys is probably the first movie that escapes the CD piracies and hence can be watched nowhere else except in the theatres as the whole movie has been pictured using the latest digital technology called Digital Track System 5.1 which enables the recording possible only in a DVD format and hence makes it impossible for anyone to make copies to the VCD’s. For long the cinema industry has tried to enforce more than a dozen of ways with all their efforts getting in vain to prevent their films from getting pirated. It is interesting that director Shankar has put a full stop for these film piracies at least for time being. After giving a series of super hit movies like Indian, Kushi, Dhool, Run , A. M. Rathnam is back with Boys as his seventh movie, which according to them is a movie not only for youngsters but also for all members of the family. The movie will be released in Tamil and Telugu on the same days, has been delayed by a month in Hindi alone. The songs by A.R.Rahman are already a hit.

Latest digital technology is DTS 7.1 and not DTS 5.1, it is atleast 2-3 years old if not more.

I guess Mr/Mrs(dunno sorry) MusicIsLife
is forgetting that Boys is an Indian movie in India so DTS 5.1 is probably the latest for them. It is actually kind of impressive, because many of the movies that are labeled as DTS in tamil are not. And if they have finally got around having their movies pirated that is a BIG plus for them.

Piratheepan Sir/Madam
I was just correcting the LATEST, the sentence could have been read IT IS RECORDED IN DTS 5.1 rather than latest technology DTS 5.1. COZ I have a DTS 5.1 receiver in India which i bought 2 years back..
I did not want to offend. Stopping Video/VCD piracy is good thing, hats off to finding various ways to attract people to the theatres.
Surely I had Matrix Reloaded downloaded from Kaaza b4 the movie arrived.. it took a long time for downloading, and even though i had tkts for the preview shows b4 it was opened in all theatres
but curiosity is a big deamon

Haha
Stopping piracy??
A pirated DVD costs 75 Rs!
With Boys, Welcome to the world of DVD piracy!
Goodbye VCD piracy!
All you need to make a DVD is the original reels of the movie and the audio. I am suere the pirates have their own ways of releasing a quality DVD of boys!

V,
Thirudana parthu thirunthavittal Thiruttai ozhika mudiyathu!!
For the matter of fact, We can make the process of piracy a difficult one rather than completely removing it and having no bootlegged copies floating around.
For ex: Eros Internation in the US started to rent out original DVD's from their site, result lots of piracy was stopped..

MusicIsLife.
It is very hard to say that people can make an appeal to consince and stop piracy.
Look at the Hindi DVDs. They release within a week or month from the film release. More than that They have all the add-ons that a dvd needs. Example: Behind the scsnes, bonus songs, interviews, theatrical trailer, script etc.
Our Tamil people are so bad in marketing and they want our makkal to wake up and digest all the shitt they give? As it is the films are rotten and stinking nowadays. How do you expoect one to go and watch it in Theater and not buy the VCD?

V,
Sorry Piracy became very less compared to previous years
yeah i understand... what you say. Lagaan was released on DVD after nearly 6 months, people still watched in Theatres atleast in NJ, NY area.. so it also depends on the quality of the movie...
Ok i dont want to anymore divert from the Topic, but surely hats off to the person who can lure people theatres and stop Piracy..

Marketing is the best way to stop piracy...
If you can attract movie-goers to cinema...why worry abt VCD...
Tamil movie..really sucks in markeing...just like what V said...
with Sandiyar(or any other name) and Intel collaboration..hopefully there's some good marketing personnel involved.....
