PATHETIC RECORDING QUALITY OF RAJA SONGS

  Basically, the master recording is some what ok, but when it is transfered to compact Tapes by companies like Echo, HMV they totally suck in quality.
  There is a great quality loss, as these tapes are substandard. I got couple of tapes from HMV which by default sucked, but I transfered this to hard disk, remastered (just equalized and balanced) them with CoolEdit and converted them to MP3. It sounded good, I found many of the MSV songs had bass guitar scores. But this is a time consuming task.
  
  I wish Indian Audio companies improve.

  oh, tell me about it. It is really annoying. When we are thinking of remastering old ones, IR is messing up latest albums with too much of electronic stuff. I am beginning to beleive ARR owes most of his success to his excellent quality of recording.
  
  He uses electronic stuff but he uses the top of the line not some simple Casio keyboard stuff with Karthik Raja seems to be

  HMV have come out with a series called "GOLDEN HOUR". It includes a series on Susheela's Solo numbers (a collector's item), MGR Hits, Shivaji Hits, PBS' Solo Hits and IR's greatest Hits. I was in Bangalore recently and the shop had only one in each series. CDs weren't available though.
  
  The jacket says, "DIGITALLY REMASTERED ORIGINALS".
  The quality was quite nice, with noise-reduction et al.
  
  The cassette of IRs had a mixed fare:
  Good songs included SendhooraPoove, Poongathave, SiruPonmani, SenthaazhamPOovil, Uchi Vahindeduthu, Poovarasampoo...
  The jarring ones were Murattukkalai (Dabbanguthu Song, 'Poduvaga En Manasu Thangam!Yuk')
  Kalyana Raman (Kaadhal Deepam Ondru!!!, Vera Paatte kidaikalayappa?)
  
  The packaging was neat. (At last, HMV is paying attention to the design as it does to Hindi films)
  
  Hope HMV and Echo together come out with collections like the above, but with advise on the compilation coming from a knowledgeable person. Wishful thinking, huh?

  Neels,
  u can't expect a great fare when u buy pre-recorded cassetes/CD's. it is always better to get a cassette recorded full of assorted songs of your choice.
  i have seen many CD collections of IR on the web, in which there would be 8 or more good songs mixed with 4 junk songs. so iam planning to get CD's done with songs of my own choice.

  No mater, how hard indian musician they score music , including the great ones , dont improve their quality in recording, our indian music cannot reach globally.
  Our indian music recording quality is still unmatched with those western recording even compare with 1980 song. (example compare now days recording and michael jackson billie jean 1982)
