Your observations really echo my sentiments too! The so-called IR Fans have become so disgruntled these days that they start comparing his latest releases against the blockbusters of ARR and then say that it is not upto the mark. Your comments that People are like sheep. They follow the crowd blindly. is a very good observation because at this same forum, I know people how much they went hammer & tongs against IR for giving a 'poor-quality' album like TIME, but subsequently changed stance later as public opinion firmed up for TIME as a very good album. So, I really do appreciate you for your comments! Keep it going.

Guys,
I agree that Raja has not been at his best in recent times. This mainly comes about when one starts comparing with arr.We tend to do that and when others start to criticise him they use the point as their basis.
For me he is beyond that.I wait patiently for that colossal project which will bring him to the fore.TIME grows on you.Muthu Nilave is groovy.Niram Pirithu parthen is superb.
I hope with the exposure Hey Ram gives him it can act as springboard to releasing more independent projects. Will someone in the industry
push for the symphony.
LEt's support him all the way.

for those who is harsh on raja: (esp. for the one who said "intha latchaNathil paattu pOdarathai vida veettil thoongi kurattai vidalaam")
if you cant enjoy songs like "malai en vethanai kututhadi" or "saranam bhava" or "enge sellum entha" there is something wrong with you. not in
the maestro's.
when the situation need a "dundanakka" you have to put a "dundanakka" there not something like"nilave vaa". cant you people understand that?its more depends on the director.
nothing wrong with you nowadays most of our ears are used for "twisters" so some "breeze" seems
useless.
regarding "sethu" im hearing it every day and everyday its getting gives me new ideas raja used.
and i will rate "vidiya vidiya" as one of the best of 1999. i never any other music director("sound makers" and "xerox owners")can do it except maestro

Aptly said man!! In fact people who start lambasting Raaja should take some precious time of theirs to see exactly what the fact is. For example, I have uploaded both the songs from KUTRAPATHIRIGAI, a movie that never made it to the screen, thanks to the censor board, to my site (Song# 347,348). The, thAAmthana thayyom song has some fast paced beats and it is a very good song indeed. Definitely if the film had been screened in 1992, those songs would have had at least some recognition. However, if the same IR fans have to listen to that song now, then they are again going to ask IR to better snore than score!!
TIME is a beautiful album and is one of the best albums of IR. IR's SETHU is not appealing or is not as good. We all do accept that, I believe. But then, it is not as bad as it is portrayed by some fans of this forum. In fact it is at least an OK album, if not good, better or best, IMO!!

Hello, senthil:
if you cant enjoy songs like "malai en vethanai kututhadi" or "saranam bhava" or "enge sellum entha" there is something wrong with you. not in
the maestro's.
I am happy to receive such a bashing since it has been a while since I received one. It is a pleasant change :-). But, as you noted, something is wrong with me and hence I shall stick to my opinion that the two songs (found in GS' site) on which I based my notion are indeed bad. FYI, I have listened only to those two songs and I never said the album in totum is worthless.
I like to rest in this state of delirium , listen to the soothing oldies of IR than come into the modern fray and see him fading into the history and words of flattery. I am comfortable.
thx

I am really tired of hearing this .... 'Keep waiting for the MAGNUM OPUS' stuff. Whether you guys accept it or not, over the past eight years (from 1992 to now) Raja has only give TWO very very popular albums --- Veera and Kadhalukku Mariyadhai.
And, remember popular acceptance is THE ONLY norm by which you are judged in the film industry. I agree, Guru, Avatharam etc were good, but sadly they went unnoticed.
The tendency in this forum is of course to blame everyone except Raja .... the directors are bad, picturisation is bad, publicity is bad, situations are stale and plenty of other innovative excuses. And when somebody (MS in this case .... who also happens to run a decent site hosting Rajas songs) calls a spade a spade, you guys know no better than to pounce on him.
Why, senthil, if there is something wrong with me for not liking Vidiya, Vidiya then there is something wrong with most (99%) of the Tamil public....
Simply put, Raja needs to introspect. Think long and think hard about what is going wrong. I dont think I am qualified enough to advise the great man. But, atleast on the surface, it appears like he is just churning numbers out algorithmically ... not much care going into the songs. Do you think it would satisfy me (or any other music listener) to wait for a whole year with anticipation for TIME and get an average album with just one standout number -- Niram Pirithu? If Muthu Nilave is Rajas idea of a groovy number, then I'll take groovy numbers from Yuvan anyday. Karthik Raja's voice ---- Yuck!

Senthil --- whether you like it or not---- Raja today is a mediocre music director who occasionally shows flashes of old brilliance. I feel extremely bad as I write this 'coz I am as big a fan of him as anyone here. But that is the bitter truth and someone has to have the guts to say this. ARR better than Raja --- I'll be the first to say NO WAY. But is ARR TODAY better than Raja TODAY .... Unfortunately yes.
Cinema is a popular medium. Cassette sales, popularity of songs among people etc., may not matter to diehard Raja fans in this forum, but they do count.
Vasuki, Sendhooram, Sethu, ChinnaDurai madhiri kuppai padam ellam evvalavu perukku theriyum? Immediately a few people here will respond to this with
There is a song "aalamaram" in sendooram that is good, there is a song in "madras tamil" sung soulfully by MV in Vasuki that is good, and ChinnaDurai is the album of the year ..... but guys, who are you trying to convince? Yourselves? Vidiya Vidiya is the best song of the year...... Who says so? In cinema music people are the judge, and when people reject something you cannot question their judgement. Remember, these are the same people who put Raja on a high pedestal, and now these very same people are rejecting Raja...
