6 Songs : Mind Blowing!!

Simply mind-blowing
November 20
Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”
Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.
Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

In "Yuva" in Lallan's story there is a track that is played as a BGM, There is male vocal and a guitar rift that is played, (ie: when Lallan comes back after beating Sasi the first time and she is upstairs at W's house sitting by the window) does this track come in AE as well ? is it in tamil ? it was so beautiful.
Yuva was screened here in New Zeland last night, we have to wait for 2 weeks for Ayutha Ezhuthu,
judging by the Yuva I'd be be keen to see Ayutha Ezhuthu as well, A welcome change from movies like "Kadhal Sarigama" "Petti Sollai thathathe" matrum pala...

u kno wat i find funny?is how some ppl find the story far fetched,in the sense that youth should get involved in politics and wat not.its true the youth of today should be more involved in politics and be aware of wats happening.and ive heard sum reviews say this has been done before...but i sure dont remember n e movies that had the youth gettin into politics or n e thin like it.

Ok, now the review as I have said...
With the starting titles itself, you can expect more of such bgm in the film. ***SPOILER START***
This review is VERY DETAILED, THE MOST detailed as can be,though if not perfect. Straight after the titles, it starts with Sidd (munna aka arjun in ae) begging Trisha to love him and he will take good care of her. Then Surya on his bike w/ esha deol. They are talking romanticly and we have Maddy w/sriman in a vehicle. "Intha pombalengga kooda vechikkave koodathu.." He says, making us think he hates women. Then esha gets down Surya's bike. Then we have sidd asking surya a lift to follow Trisha. As he gets down and goes to Trish, he then stands on the edge of the napier bridge and shouts his love out. And all out of a sudden, we have Maddy shooting Surya thrice in a go. "MANGGA ADI" Leaves the audience puzzled on why he's doing so...

~INBA~(MADDY)
Then flashback, Inba- 2 mths ago. He's being release frm prison. Then he goes to Sasi's house to bring her back. Song 1: Sandai Kozhi At this point, there is a lot of hugging and it is throughout the film except for Sidd's part. Mani should have reduced it a lot. Then he goes and beats up college students FOR bharathiraja (amaicchar). Then ..... Maddy surprises MJas showing her his gas agency business. Song 2: Dol Dol .. His brother(?) gets Maddy to kill Surya as he's standing in election against BR(?). 123

Michael...Surya
It goes back to when Esha gets down the train and they meet secretly in the train. Expressed in the dialogue is that they love each other. Then Surya gets an American scholarship. He's imprisonned for beating up someone and they themselves (surya and a whole lot of students in the coll) surrender. After released(?) Song 3: Jana Gana Mana (BGM) they go to a mill for some purpose..Then when they mistake Esha & Surya being too intimate, they send Esha out. Esha goes on Sur's bike to coll/hostel discussing about their marriage. She gets down and Surya finally tells her that he will marry her. Song 4: Nenjamellam, used as BG with Esha walking back and Surya riding his bike. Slow motion used to show an imminent disaster. Watch the film and you will know why MR did not want any songs. Such a good song wasted with walking... But you are more tensed to see when he gets shot...Bang! Sidd standing on top of the bridge, childishly lookin scared...

Kanna,Nattamai&the like have some basic problem i think.when Virumaandi came out Kannna went about telling that he was a great fan of Kamal etc etc but was pulling down Kamal at every instance. He seems to be doing the same with AE.Why the hell will Kamal or Mani make the same movies that they have already made over&over again, obviously they will do different things,Some might be liked, some might not be but the crucial thing is they are moving on to different things¬ getting stuck. If they had then by now they would have been history. So all those great film critics out there, review the movie as a stand alone&don't compare it to the maker's previous works.
ferrari,i am glad you liked poornima theatre, otherwise having recommended,i would have felt sick. Why have you come out with such a brief comment about the movie, how about something elaborate?

You think you have a great sense of humor, well this attitude of you makes me laugh.
Try something different its getting as stale as Goundamani calling senthil black.

After seeing the film, I thought that the ending was the weak-link. But after 2 days of rumination, I think the ending is, in fact, the movie's key strength. Makes one think!
Anyway, Rahman was simply superb in the movie. I am hoping that the additional BGM clips are released soon.
Cinefan, Ferrari
I saw the movie at Sri Balaji. Theatre was real good (million times better than Natraj - a theatre where I must have seen atleast a 100 movies by now), but there was incessant chatter from a group of drunkards sitting behind us. Real irritating!!!

Mani has expected people watching his movies to have some brains. Thalaila thundu kattindu Aethiri madhiri padam paakaravan ellam AE eppadi rasipaan..
Its a well made movie. He has tried out something new.
These are things I enjoyed in the movie apart from ARR's BGM and Mani's direction.
1. Editing
2. Camera
3. Madhavan's acting
4. Dol dol song picturisation.
5. Typical Mani type of dialogues in the conversation between sidd and trisha.
*SPOILER"
I felt that if sidd's scene had come first and then madhavan and then surya it would have been more continuous.
Watching the action packed maddy and surya scenes and then light romance between sidd and trisha, makes one feel that in second half pace lightly reduces..
Climax fight was very well done.
And I know many would disagree. I liked the nenjemallam part as well. Surya going on bike in a romantic mood, with the song at background. And Esha running in college campus giggling to herself was very well done. I liked it..
And I found Jana Gana mana song was not properly picturised :-(
In one scene surya is wearing the bandage. next scene he is scene digging a well. again next scene bandage...
This song could have been picturised in a better way.
*END SPOILER
Overall, I enjoyed the movie. Mani has tried out something new. Wish he comes up with new new ideas every movie.
Better go to the movie without any expectations. You will enjoy.
After watching the movie, and in some tv channel they were showing aethiri scenes. What a difference.
Yesday Mani said to madan "Tamil cinemal neraya nalla projects vandhundu dhaan irukku. But oru nalla padam vandha appuram 15 masala padam vandhu cinema level keezha kondu varadhu".
He is perfectly right...
