Compare and Contrast IR's musical style(s), especially with the BGM tracks, with those of composers of Hollywood, viz., Maurice Jarre, Henri Mancini, John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Bernstein, John Barry, Alan Sylvistri, Danny Elfman, Ennio Morricone, Howard Shore, Hans Zimmer, James Horner and so on

Dear Friends in the US team,
Vanakkam.
To you TIS owes a lot. When I decided to commit myself to this project I knew that funds will not easily come. However I had not imagined that it will be such a huge and odious task. Well after a long journey I feel the project is entering the threshold of hope. I must admit in sincerity that but for the US team we would not even be in a position to feel that we are almost crossing the threshold of hope.
The undying spirit of enthusiasm, dedication and resilience shown by Dr.Shankar Kumar is my own prayer. I will never be able to forget the innate concern of Mr.Nachimuthu Socrates about my own well being and reputation. God bless Ananth Govindan for his nobility and exemplary gestures of generosity. Sridhar Bala, whom I have never met was a gentle soul with utmost sincerity. Seetharam Sridhar was my first contact for this project in the US and I shall never forget that it was Seetharaman who was the first runner in this relay race.
Mr.Ilaiyaraaja is now in Hungary, shaping up his composition in consultation with the conductor. He will get back to Chennai on June 23. The studio is being booked for recording from July 04- July 12. The voice mixing will take place in Bombay and Chennai between July 15 till July 24. There after we have to do the mixing, preferably by an engineer with the reputation of a Grammy Award.Though we have set the time frame and even booked the studios we are will short of around $125000. Let us all make a final concerted effort to gather the generosity and good will of as many of our friends and well wishers as possible to ensure that the project does not get stuck at the final stages.
I look forward to your support more than any other time. God bless,
jegath"

Its surprising to note that the ordering of the
tracks in "How to name it?" has gone unnoticed over the years. I consider "How to name it?" as one of the best ever fusion album produced by any one in the world. Fusion of this kind is yet to be explored by any one. Have any one wondered how the titles didnt match with the track in the oriental CD cover. I did a small study and am coming with a hypothesis. I feel embarrased to think about how a person of WCM knowledge on hearing the second track named "Mad mod mood fugue" will be bewildered not to hear any fugue composition in it (Not even a trace of it.).
Here's the hypothesis
1. How to Name it? (No 5 in the oriental CD ordering)
An excellent imitation to Bachs toccata and fugue
composition. For those who are wondering what toccata and fugue is, here is a small explanation about each of them. For the well educated in this form of music, please correct me if i am wrong.
Fugue: A composition, or compositional technique, in which a theme is extended and developed mainly by counterpoint composition. A main theme is played and after which a second theme enters and continues to play. The first theme may or may not take over and this applies to the second theme also. They composition may change the theme and play an entirely different theme altogether.
Bach is considered to be the pioneer in fugue
composition. He was a master of even 6 part fugue
composition. Beethoven also brilliantly followed bachs legacy with fugue composition. As far as IR is concerned, he have been delivering fugue composition in his short interludes over the past decades and we have been hearing it over and over with out even knowing that it is Fugue composition!! :)
Toccata is a technique in which the composition is
such to show off the instrument and the technique of the player.
2. Mad Mod mood fugue (No 3 in the cd order)
With the above explanation of fugue, please hear this track. Listen how Bachs fugue composition essence is captured. Once again a hint of toccata and fugue.
3. You Cannot Be Free (No 4 in the cd order)
Pinnacle of fusion. A solo violin representing the
indian classical music while the orchestration is
definetely western. Listen how each instrument
complements each other. The violin playing a
melancholic theme, is enhanced further by the
intermittent mridhangam play.
4. Study for violin (No 1 in the cd order)
A classic westernized harmonic blending. Violins
mesmerizing and bind you emotionally.
5. IT is fixed (No 6 in the order)
A classical guitar plays the first theme and
subsequently the rhythm changes to a bluesy pattern.
Elements of jazz and blues is brilliantly fused
together. Trambone, String and keyboard is used
absolutely profoundly in this stimulating
composition
6. Chamber welcomes thiagaraja ( No 7 in the order)
Ah! Classic. What more innovative way to pay tribute to both of his masters. Thyiagaraja and Bach. Listen how Bachs compositional technique creeps in with the indian classical music.
7. I Met bach in my house (No 8 in the cd order)
Exceptional treatment of Indian and western classical music. Each instruments in a conversational form.
8. ...And we had a talk (No 9 in the cd order)
Complementary to I Met bach in my house.
Similar treatment given to this composition as of I Met Bach in my house
9. Do Anything (No 10 in the cd order)
Indian melody set to western orchestra.
10. Dont compare (No 2 in the cd order)
Excellent percussion and silence usage makes this
composition one of a unique kind. Listen particularly to the way the orchestration is done. The rhythm stops and starts effortlessly giving a feeling of utmost joy. Elements of jazz , Western classical influences and the indian melody joins together in this enchanting piece of innovative excellent composition.Hail the Genius.
Please correct me if i am wrong. And if not, its high time to contact the Rangasami of Oriental Records :)

Rum Bum Bum - Michael Madana Kamarajan Interlude and Prelude
-----------------------------------------
The below transcript is also available in http://www.rakkamma.com/~interludes in a better readable format and the interludes are also available for downloading.
Before discussing about this fabulous interlude and prelude, let us discuss some thing about Rock and Roll in general. This form of music originated from slavery that happened to Africans. To forget the pain caused, they switched to a form of music, which could relieve them of their sorrows.
This form of music evolved over the period of time and subsequently Afro-American form of music fused together. However it was Elvis Presley who, considered to be the King of rock and roll redefined rock and roll music.
With the above definition let's analyze IR's work
TFM has witnessed many Rock and roll song, one of my favorite is by MSV for the film, "Server sundaram" , the song evergreen "Avalukkenna". But as what Elvis presley had done to the rock and roll music, ir re-defined the rock and roll usage in tfm. His affinity to western classical music gives him the edge to make this interlude a classic R&B happy, teenager love dance theme.
Now, about the prelude,
Percussion starts the prelude, followed by classic piano and then the trombone sets in and subsequently all of them get together in a jam session. The prelude is one of the longest (40 seconds to be precise), but its necessary to build the tempo. Now listen particularly the way he builds the rhythm.
First Interlude (0:40 to 1:06)
Then the first interlude, the trombone starts it but it's layered with the piano and then it takes a short break before joining again with the piano. Notice how the tempo has been increased subtly for this interlude. This is done when the trombone stops playing and the piano raising the tempo. Subtly but brilliantly done.
Second interlude (1:06 to 1:41)
In the second interlude listen how the tempo is increased. It becomes absolutely faster. The second interlude is started by the piano and the trombone increases the tempo and then the clapping sound follows signifying the tempo increase. At this point, you can imagine a room packed of young teenagers dancing their heart out on rock and roll music. You can also hear a subtle guitar playing in the background.
Listen how the track ends, signifying that the wind in all the dancers body have been knocked off completely!!!.
An excellent Rock and roll without any dilution whatsoever.
Note: As usual please correct me in areas where i have faltered myself.
