Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”

Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.

Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

  I just felt strongly that I should watch AE in a high quality sound theatre. Last time, in Plaza Theatre, the screen wasn't quite new when I went for Naladamayandhi (last b4 AE). All other films I watch in VCDs. Yeah, the songs are really very hot!h

  i happend to see alaipayuthe recently aired on sun t.v... athukula oru chinna flashback (courtesy : manirathnam)........ pona varusham india tholaikaatchiyile muthal muraiyaga potaapa 1st time parthen .....that time with lots of expectations......... AP successs, superhit success of its hindi remake, ARR's top class music...semaiyana trailers.... adada super padam paarka porom ngara ninaippula paarthen..

  ippo marubadiyum pottanga..i had no other go but to seee the movie as i was damn bored....... vera channel la ethuvume illa...enada ithu nu nonthukitte parthena...... cha ovvoru scenum supera therinjathu enakku intha thadavai.....i just couldnot change the chnnel then...... and now it seeemed a befitting climax...thoive theriyala..... meyyalume padam romba nalla irunthuchu.acting was superb and other things.....
  
  MORAL OF THE STORY : for a mani film, go without expectations yo wil love the film like anything...on the other hand go with hype...you will return saying the movie sucks big time..
  
  
  appuram than purinjathu why mani wants negative review for his film immediatly after release...it again i guess is a marketing tactics.... i strongly believe asvathaman, nattamai are mani set up panni vitta pasanga nu...dhrishti bommai mathiri.......intha maathiri ovvoru idathulayum ovvoruthara set up panni vitturukkar nu ninaikkaren

  The Mumbai centric reviews do tend to have a condescending attitude to southern talents. As for Rediff, its become like this nasty power center that uses its popularity as a major indian portal site like a mafia. as for the commercial fate of the film, the following figures definitely dont seem to suggest it a flop..not by any standards!! ridiculous!!

  True because we tamilians/Indians are way back to listen his visionary music compositions and he is going global. He should not have born in tamilnadu.
  
  Aytha ezhuthu and the "warriors of heavenand earth" compilations are way ahead of Indian Sub-continent's reach.
  
  He tried his best to lower his talents to the majority general audince taste! enough of it. Well done Rahman.   vensub: a new generation of musically unsavvy or uninitiated people are listening to music without even having heard of the vast Indian classical traditions and the films compositions that were based on those. I am not putting down Rahman, he is only giving what the audience of today can take.

  Well you want film music to be better or not. I hail from a musical family from tanjore and am a close relative of G.N.B. Many singers like maharajapuram's has come and sang in our home.
  
  Everybody sings in my family and all are like subbudu. I sing better than any of the new singers today, though its not the point here!
  
  ARR doesn't interfere/corrupt carnatic classical, instead he makes our music popular.
