I dont know much about Carnatic music. But I guess, the raga for "Naadham Ezhundhadhadi Kannamma" from Keladi Kanmani is Aabogi. Am I right ?? It is an excellent melody from Ilayaraja, according to me.
I also want to know the raaga for Poomalai Vaangi vandhan song from Sindu Bhairavi.

Typo in my previous query. The song "Naadham ezhundhadhadi" is from Kopura Vaasalilae and not from Keladi Kanmani

What's the raga of MS' Kaatrinile Varum Geetam (film: Meera-old)?
It has shades of Sindhu Bhairavi, but not quite the same raga. Could anyone tell me what it is? The CD cover says it's Ragamaalika, which I think is untrue.

Radha,
Looks like I have to listen to the song a couple of hundred more times to follow the lyrics!!!
VAzhga SAdhana Sargam!
How I wish someone like Chitra/Sujata/Swarnalata had sung this nice song!
Atleast the makers of KKKK have the lyrics printed in the album leaf so I could follow the above singer singing 'Deeba Vazhi Paandi Hai' to mean 'DeepavaLip Pandigai'... in the song 'KOnjum MainaakkaLe'.

I recently recollected two songs:
(1)vizigaL mEdaiyaam..julie I love you - this is set in rEvathi
(2)kaNNE vaa, kaNmaNiyE vaa (film - kuzanthai yEsu ?) - set in bhoopaaLam (I think).
In bhoopaaLam we have rarely found compositions in TFm except the opening lines of "oru ponmaanai naan kaaNa"
and to handle rEvathi for a love song in such an elegant way, the MD needs to be good. TR was good.

There is a beautiful old A.M.Raja song in bhoopalam in the film Vipranarayana. It starts 'Adhavan ezhundan'.I think it is a mix of bhoopalam and Malayamarutham.

What's the Raga of "Oru Kungumach Chengamalam' from the film 'Aaradhanai'? It's one of my favorite numbers from the IR, SPB & SJ combo. Can't pin down the raga at all.
It has shades of Dharmavati in the charanams, but the Pallavi has many beautiful variations.
Oru Kungumach Chengamalam, ILa Mangayin Thanga Mukham
Pasi ThooNdum Amudham
Thara VENdum Kamalam
Un Koondal Poovanam
With each line takes a new surprising turn.
Can some one please help?
Thanks

heard a lot of shades of gowri manohari. But there is a M2 which is uncharacteristic of gowromanohari. May be it is just a non-raaga venture of IR.

Neels,
IR has lot of songs like these where u just cant pin down the raaga. he mixes swaras. though songs like 'o vasantha raaja' etc. sound classical its quite difficult to find one single raaga on which the song is based.

RJay: Anbu Nadamaadum is in Vaasanthi Ragam, mainly. I need a closer listen to see if it has any mixtures..... This was the same Ragam used in Mudhalvan by ARR for Kurukku Sirathavale....
MS: I've lost you, please translate..... I've had experts also confirm that Oru Ponmaalai is in Bowli......
- From: Neels (@ 202.54.125.132)
on: Sun May 7 09:56:25 EDT 2000
MS: When you change M1 of Gowri Manohari to M2, you get Dharmavathi.
But the pallavi is still intriguing!
But the flow is so seamless, you can't pin-point the raga transitions!

Geetha:
Bowli to my knowledge has a N2 ( I dont use 1 2 3 notation, but 1 2 only) along with the swaras of bhoopaaLam. An example for this I think is the opening swara jathi of "raagam thaaLAm pallavi" from the film Sankaraabaranam. That is why I asked if you are able to "hear" the characteristic Nishaadam in the song "oru ponmaalai". I raised this question because I could not recognize a nishaadham.
That aside, why have your visits become so infrequent ?

Sorry for digressing...
Just listened to "Screen Behind the mirror" by Enigma...atleast 3 tracks have the "Old Spice" music as a background chorus...how come they were allowed to copy this ?
anyways,..the songs are really good.
