  I was listening to "Naanoru ponnoviyam kanden edhire". I realized that it sounded very similar to "Indraikku enindha aanandhame" ( if not the beginning, the first stanza sounds awfully similar). Do they happen to be based on same or similar ragam?
  
  [I am a zero in Carnatic music/identifying raagams. So, if this is completely off the mark, sorry :)].

  ragam wise, they are different.. Nanoru is mohanam(srgpds-sdpgrs) and inraikku is abhogi(srgmds-sdmgrs)..
  
  but they being in different ragas doesnt' restrict them from sounding similar...

  another mohanam song: Ninnukori Varnam from Agni Natchathiram
  another Abogi song: Thanga ratham vandhadhu veedhiyile sung by PBS/Janaki
  
  Stanza part for "Inraikku" and "nanoru" start with a high[Sa], go to a low[Sa/Ga] and then to high[Sa] in a typical Ilaiyaraja style. He does that in many songs.

  "kandukonden" songs:
  
  the title song starts with Nalinakanthi and moves to Shankarabaranam I think so.
  "kannamoochi ennada" is in nattakurinji.
  Also has anyone heard the song "Santhana Thendral"; it seems to have shades of Bhairavi. Can some some one validate it?
  "Konjum Mainakele" is in Madhyamavati; hear lots of Illayaraja shades in it. Obviously Raja is the king of this Ragam.
  "Enge enathu" starts from Sindhu Bhairavi and goes into an unfamiliar raga which sounds sometimes like charukesi and sometimes like shadvidha margini; again can anyone point is the raga in the charanam? Am dying to find it out. (the nadaswaram in this raga is spectacular)

  Koottathile Kovil Pura has shades of Harikambhoji and Nattakurinji (probably the former's Janyam?) in it.

  It's Riti Gowlai.
  Some other songs in this ragam are:
  'Chinna Kannan Azhaikkiran' from Kavikkuyil (IR)
  And 'Thalayai Kuniyum Thaamaraye' from 'Oru Odai Nadiyaagirathu' (IR)
  
  Raj, it is not Puppy, but Papihara, that means Nightingale. The split was funny though! Many of our classical musicians do this all the time, when they do not know the language ;)
