  madan, to my knowledge:
  
  (1) dhoodhu selvadhaaradi - chaarukesi
  (2) adhisaya raagam - valaji (modified ?)
  (3) paarththa vizhi - paavani
  (4) thom thom - kanakangi (first mELakartha ?)
  
  vasantha mullai seems to be similar to "raagam thaanam pallavi" of Shankarabaranam. It does not ring a bell though.

  (3) dhevasabaathaLam (MGS) - thOdi
  (4) mayooranaadham - panthuvaraaLi (?)
  (5) rishaba swarangaLaai - aabhOgi
  (6) sa ri ga pa ga ri sa ri (goes till gaandhaaram MGS) - mohanam
  (7) humming of KJY + santhOsha kaaraga swanam - Mohanam
  (8) krowncham shruthiyil - shaNmugapriya
  (9) pa..ma ..pa(panchamam vasantha..) - kalyaaNi ( though cannot be said with certainty as other some notes donot appear)
  (10) ri.ga.ri..megha raagangal - kalyaaNi
  (11) sa.ri.ga.ma. - maya maaLava gowlai (?)
  (12) humming..gajamuga naatham..- this is confusing. It comes with the notes of Revathi with an extra "dha2" in the middle during aarOhaNam. Please clarify
  (13) aga nom thanaOm thom..(thaanam to the end) - revathi

  "Adhisaya raagam" song is based on the raga Mahathi. "vasantha mullai polae vandhu" is in Charukesi raga.

  Another point to be clarified: "vasantha mullai pOlE vanthu" - are you sure it is in chaarukEsi ? I have this doubt because there is a usage of "dha2" in "Odi vaa" which in uncharacteristic of chaarukEsi( ? )

  Yes, Mahathi has the following notes: s g3 p n2 s+,= valaji minus d2. i think it is a creation of BMK.

  Kanchi Pattuduthi is "Kalyana Vasantham".
  
  I think KV is ARR's one of the favorites.
  
  There's a Sax piece in "Duet" in KV- Excellent one.

  Kalayanavasantham: s g2 m1 d1 n3 s+; s+ n3 d1 p m1 g2 r2 s; It is janya of Kiravani. As Gopal said Kanchi Pattuduthi is in KV. St. Thyagarajas Nadaloludai is a famous piece.
  
  SindhuBhairavi has a vague A/a. i think there are several versions of it. Most popular version used currently is a hindustani type. one version has all the 12 notes(!). another is very much like thodi with anya swaras. another one is madhyamantha A/a (starts and ends with ma!). Yet it is easily recognizable!! For eg. if a song sounds like a "dabbanguthu" it usually is sindhubhairavi (like Kavalai padade etc).

  maand, - 2 1/2(Nila Kayhiradhu)
  kaapi, - 3 or 4?

  desh - Only Kaatru Kuthiraiyile in Kaadhalan, Alaap in Kadhal Rojave which becomes Kaafi!
  
  As for the Maestro, he has Numerous numerous Keeravani's, Sindhubairavhi's, Mohanam's, Hindolam, Suddha Dhanyasi, Dharmavathi, Madhyamavathi, Natabairavhi, Sivaranjani e.t.c.....He had done many Rare pieces, but in such an illustrious Career, they are a very small number, as opposed to his many compositions in the above mentioned Ragas.
  
  Have you not listened to the variety in Rahman's:
  
  Sri Ragam in Theendai,
  Vasantha/Basanth in Padayappa,
  Vaasanthi in Mudhalvan,
  Natabairavhi for Nenjinile,
  Sivaranjani for Kannum Kannum and Thaneerai Kaadhalikkum(Mr Romeo),
  Suddha Sarang for Malargale,
  Dharmavathi in Rakozi Rendu,
  Chakravagham in Uidukadaye,
  Charukesi in Rang De,
  Kaamavardhini in Hai Rama,
  Karaharapriya in Veesum Thendral
  Natakuranji in Orunaal Oru pozuthum in Andimandaarai
  Kamaas in Sakhiye Neethaan
  Kamaaj in Uyirum Neeye
  Saraswathi in Kanava Illai Kaatra
  
  The list goes on Mr Ramaswamy, as good as Ilayaraja did his Ragas, so has Rahman, it appears that you just havent heard all of Rahman's work, or is it that you dd not identify these Ragas?

  Ramaswamy, just to add to it, the wonderful Kalyanavasantham piece in Duet, not to mention his own composition of Tharana(Hindustani version of Thillana) in Madumadh Sarang(Madhyamavathi) in the Thakshak film. Do take a listen to that piece, it should impress you.

  Anyone feel a similarity betwn Rang De and the one in Padayappa? At least the background music looked similar. I think the song in Padayappa is "Vetri...".
