i was listening to "mellap pesungal" from "kasedhaan kadavulada". it goes "mellap pesidavo pirar ketkakkoodaamal". does this word exist in tamil? isn't this an example of lyrical abaththam? pls correct if wrong.

"oru ponnu onnu naan parthen
cm sirika solli ketten
ava siricha siripile 100 peru sethu poita"
I cannot make out what type of song/mood it conveys. Later on lines make it sound like a mutual admiring song, but "100 peru sethu poita" does not seem complimenting. Perhaps someone can explain
Thanks

Another lyrical abaththam :
One of the ending lines in the song "Yedho Oru paattu yen kaadhil ketkum". Dont know the lyricist.
"Pookkalin Mele Pani Thuli paarthaal Muga Paru Nyaabagame."
Yuck....
This is taking it into aruvaruppu territory.

KSS the line you mentioned is a beautiful uvamai
'pooKal mele pani thuLi'
Kadhali mugathai poovagavum adhil thondrum paruvai

pani thuLiyum mariandhuvidum...paruvum karaindhuvidum

panner pushpangale
raagam paadu
shouldn't it be paadungal? on with the next line:
unnai pole enthan ullam. again singular/plural problem. it should be either "ummai" or "ungalai". not an abaththam, but grammatical errors.
similarly,
kaalam kaninthathu kadhavugal thiranthathu from madai thiranthu
it should be kadhavugal thiranthana.

Hi all:
I was listening to "Ilaya nila pozhigiradhey.." song from Payanangal Mudivadhillai.
I was stumbled on the "ilakana pizhai" in the line :
"Mughil inangal alaigirathey..mugavarigal.."(mistakingly singular)
Should n't it be "Mugil inangal alaiginrana....mugavarigal..." (plural)
Neengal...enna solla pogireergal ???

pal:
poovai = flower "i"
poovaiyai = girl "i"
The word poo means flower whereas the word poovai means girl. Hence, I also think it is a stupid line.
Infact there is one tamil poem by one of the recent poets (forgot the name):
"ponnai vaikkum idaththinilE - oru
poovai vaiththidal vENdumendru
kannaR pulavar kavigaLugadan - en
kaviyum nin kazal vaiththu nindrEn"
This was intended to be a thamizththaai vaazththu before the original theme starts.

Theres this song from KaavalKaaran written by Vaali, which had these lines
'Kaadhu koduthukketten, kuvaa kuvaa satham'
that was highly criticized by DMK then. You cannot hear a baby when it is in the womb
Another piece of lyric which I found was
'Mangai aval vaai thirandhaal malligai poo vaasam'
from Punnagai mannan. No one would want that!!!

MS, bb and pal,
I felt "ponnai vaikkum idathinilE poovai vaithu paarpadharku" (when I heard this song most recently) meant this:
"pon vilai uyarndhadhu. poovO azhagaanadhu aanaalum malivaanadhu. Ponnirku badhilaaga yaarum poovai vaangavO tharavO maattaargaL. Appadich cheivadharku periya manam vEndum. Appadippatta manam padaithavar ingu aNNanaith thavira vEru yaar?!"

karthi,
in many movies, i have come across the line, usually uttered by a loving brother: "ponnai vaikkara idathula poovai vaichchirukken", with reference to his sister. i think it means that the brother regards his sister (the "poo") more than gold.

MS:
In Tamil it is not necessary that you have to 'poovaiyai(girl-i) vaithu paar' you can write 'poovai(girl) vaithu paar'
For eg: all these sentences are right.
kOyilai kandavudan poo(flower) vaithu kumbittan.
kOyilai kandavudan poovai(flower-i) vaithu kumbittan.
peN viduthalai patri pEsinaar
peN viduthalaiyai patri pEsinaar
kadhula poo vachuttaan.
kadhula poovai vachuttaan.
So In that song if you take poovai- as girl it is right.

bb, MS, pal,
ponnu vaikkira idaththila poo vaikkaradhu is a typical brahmin expression to suggest a mangaLamaana substitution to compensate for absence of means. For weddings it is normally the bride's party which spends, and where the father is not alive or say, retired the financial responsibility falls on the elder brother. If the bride's family resources are modest it is common to say 'pon vaikkira idaththilEy poo (flower) vachchu kaariyaththa nadaththiduvOm'. That is the meaning suggested in this song.
