Jay, just listened to your comp. It sounds like new life was given to old comps with addition of voice. Radhika has a very sweet voice, and goes well with the comp!
I learnt new raagam today!!
Pls post more stuff!

srikanth: the music is good; the interpretation is not (i am tempted to write something like mOgam irukkudhadi kOpam maRaindhadi ;) ); the meaning provided at some places are ... :)). well, sundar has done a good job (tho' too much spb influence - as tho' one could escape it :-) ) . do you plan to record it with female voices?

meanings where picked up from here. There are few more to crosscheck, most of the sites offer similar translations, we did take effort to discuss and get out some ideas from learned personalities and experts in this subject which is a big deal. Some have come up with few other ideas we also have read that.
You are most welcome to interpret it here right now, we like to know and Let us learn.

Sridhar, I couldn't access MP3 page at work due to security reasons...I will enjoy it from home...
Srik and Jay, I enjoyed the songs...
singers radhika and sundar have done good job...
You guys as composers and singers deserve some more review than just these words for your hard efforts...going by the order of posting and first come first serve basis:-))
Sriks, your song's intro is something always special...as always this one too...
- Song opens up with Arps playing pa sa - pa sa - pa sa - sa sa
Comments : This is a tasteful substitution for Tamboora style in the Electronic World...
- Bright Synth sound plays Ga Sa - Sa Ni Pa - Ga Sa while arp continues another measure...
- Again the bright synth sound plays Ga Sa - Sa Ni Pa - Ga Sa - Sa Ni Pa
- then Pa Sa on a plucked string ( tasteful alternative for veenai ) kind of sound...
- crisp phrase of Sa Ga Ma - Ga Ma Pa - Ma Pa Ni - Pa Ni Sa on piano flows into the pallavi...
very first Arp along with the notes played on pad sound in background of the song is the foundation for this song to sound exactly in the intended scale...Without this it would have sounded easily as Hamsanadam and it's superset...construction of phrases with notes is linear - but well placed...this shows the maturity of the composer...Very wonderful Intro...
More later...
Regards,
Aditya

yes, sridhar is 100% correct, we really want to know it before we step too deep into this, the idea of publishing the song here is to identify issues, issues will there how ever accurate you study and work on it however our goal is minimize this as much as we could. Please post it here we will learn.

Since this is an amateur page, I have a request for all the listeners. Lot of us have tendency to ignore the lyric and listen to the song. We tend to give a partial review. Lyrics plays a equally important role in any song. People who know the language but are not musically inclined, get the words first and try to sing in their own style. People who dont know that language tend to listen to the music and the emotion.
So, the singer and lyric writer play a major part in any song.

Very valid point Sridhar. personally speaking, Udhaya and Radhika has put in a lot of effort to make my intrumental version into a real song.
UV, Ajith, Ram, Ravi, MS, Aditya, Swamiji and others..thanks a lot for your feedback.

Ofcourse lyrics play a very vital role...music is perceived as the language of languages...that's why i am able to enjoy any music...unfortunately we are not in an era where we practically don't find "many" uthama vaggeyakaras where lyricist, singer/performer and Composer being one in entity...hence listener will have to look for what comes easy to their mind first ( music or lyrics )...It's OK whatsoever otherwise we couldn't be here in this page. Perhaps there is always something to learn either in literature or music...Let's learn if we don't know something...

read "unfortunately we are not in an era" as "we are in an era"

Sriki and Sridar,
What surprise (ellE)!, You beautiful parrot (kiLiyE)! you are still (innam) sleeping (uRangu)! The girl replies, "Hey girls (nangaiyeer)!, Don't call (azhaiyEn) me with such mind (min) chilling (chil) words. I am coming (aruginREn) in a little while (pOdhu)." We have known about (aRidhum) your (un) smart (vallai) tales (katturaigaL) for a long time (pandE) from your (un) own mouth (vaay). The girl says, "Ok, you (neengaL) are the smart (valleergaL) ones, Let me (naanE) be the loser (thaan aayiduga)". You (nee) start (pOdhaay) quickly (ollai) then. What (enna) other (vERu) job (udaiyai) do you (unakku) have? Come out (pOndhu) and count yourself (eNNi koL); all (ellaarum) who are coming (pOndhaar), have come (pOndhu). Let us sing (paadEl) the praise of the Lord (maayan), who destroyed (azhikka) the enemies (maatraar) in a war (maatru), and who killed (konRaan) the powerful (val) elephant (aanai). [the word 'pOndhu' is derived from 'pO' in the same manner as 'vandhu' is derived from 'vaa']
A few lines are interpreted differently and in some case wrongly.
I dunno how "What surprise" came from. "ellE" is more like "adi ivaLE innumaa thoongara?"..chellamaa thitti ezhupparathu...
the girl's reply doesn't mean, "I will come in a little while", but she says, I will come immedietly, itz just a subtle difference...(in a lighter vein the usage of the term 'Hey girls' sounded like a queen mary's girl talking to her friends:-))
unakenna vERudaiyai means, "y are u seperating urself from us", (vERupaduththi En paarkiRaay?), it is not "what other job do u have".
Then the nayaki asks if everyone has come, aaNdaaL replies, yes! u urself can come and count and confirm.
"vallaanai" is usually refered to Kamsan, "vallaanai konRaanai" means, kamsanai konRa KrishNanai...
if u want a clearer explanation in thamizh, I have written it here

I'm no expert in thamizh, pls. pardon if I had made any mistake, would be very happy to correct them.

Aditya,
Beautiful performance on the veena!!! Thanks for obliging my request so soon.
x,
thanks for listening to the song and your feedback. Glad you liked it.
sr,
Thanks to you too, the reason the two songs sound familiar maybe because both are based on the same raagam. Please correct me if am wrong.
