IR thanks a lot... :)
this is a light version,
we have done more song "Ongi ulagalanda utham, (pasuram #3)" which is very classical in nature, I will upload it tommorrow. you will see how contrast it is to this version,
basically we want to cater to many types of ears :)

Srikanth, very nice. The music very well complements the story telling nature of lyrics. Short and bright flute / synth leads are apt. Sundar has also sung with lot of expression (rasicchu padiyirukkan)
Tasteful composition! Good stuff!

To sweeten the moment, here goes a new composition by me...and its a Tamil song!
Check out "Pani Thirai".
Sung by Radhika and Lyrics by Udhaya both of whom I met here thanks to newtfmpage.
Recorded and mixed at my home studio.

Thanks to Radhika for her brilliant singing and all the effort she put into the song. She had a lot of neat little ideas which I incorporated into the song. Was a pleasure working with her. Her voice was just amazing! Also thanks to Udhaya for the wonderful lyrics.

Jay, Kudos to your effort and interest. I am happy to see you step into vocals from instrumental music. Very good tune and ice cream (smooth and cool) perfomance by radhika., strings are pretty well arranged. good job, like to hear more..from you. and for udhaya i like to give him the title "partime Bharathi"
he has done so many lyrics for us! amazing.,Udhaya.
I suppose today is "Kedaram" day . :)

Jay,
Thanks for the neat little introduction.
My little ideas were very patiently incorporated into the song by Jay and it was an absolute pleasure singing his song. Needless to say, Udhaya's lyrics added a lot to this song. This was my very first time in a studio like setting. Would love to hear what all the musicians and music lovers who frequent this thread have to say about this song.
Srikanth,
Absolutely brilliant Thiruppavai composition. Sundar's voice has amazing "bhaavam" and is so flexible. The music is excellent too. Good luck to both of you.
IR, thanks for your feedback.

Jay,
ur song is very very pleasant. I've always thought, itz very hard to compose a captivating tune, yet make it sound simple. Your tune just does that. Kudos.
Radhika,
I can see a huge improvement in your thamizh rendition. Kudos to ur efforts.
way to go guys!

yeppa..loads of talent and I am truly fortunate to be among you fellas.
Srikanth:
--------
Superb delivery by sundar. Expecting more from you and him together in future. Very novel attempt and undisturbing orch'n. U are setting standards (as always).
Sreedhar:
---------
Atlast you have broken your long silence to create the third song in your page :-) And that too a new style. Very welcome. I have one qn : the song is tooooo long. Was this intended ? There is lot of repetition of the same phrases. Is it because it was requested to be like that (FETNA)? Once again sundar has done a fine job. Now, I think you ppl who are familiar with him may ask him to visit this page to ensure the compliments of all reach him directly :-)
Jay:
----
You made my day. Radhika's best rendition till date IMO and what a lilting tune ! Once again the orch'n is minimal to keep the lead melody undisturbed. Kalakkitteenga !
Divakar:
-------
U got a guitar hand which needs a golden ring. Keep it up man.
At this junture, I think it will be useful to remind all of Aditya's contribution to this page. I have a strong opinion that the present increase in the activity and sharing mutually what you all are doing was primarily sustained by him. Only recently I see a lot of activity in this thread which is also one of the most pleasant of all discussions. Even when the activity would be low, Aditya was (and is) churning out songs one after the other and tirelessly would ask for opinions. Great going aditya !

MS,
Thanks for your wonderful feedback. Regarding Aditya, you spoke my mind. I owe a special thanks to him for introducing me for the very first time in this thread which resulted in me singing my very first song with Jay Krishnan. Keep going, Aditya

Srikanth,
Terrific Composition. Raagam is very catchy and sounds familiar ( Is it kedaram by any chance)? Sundar has done phenomenal rendition. More professional than playback singers in the industry. What is he doing? Why is he not into playback singing? BTW, Is this the person who sang 'Engeyum eppodum', 'keladi kanmani', 'santhana kaatre' etc in california few months back? If yes, he is a rocking singer. Orchestration is very pleasant, soothing and strikes the mood. Brihas by sundar deserves special appreciation. Soon to see great works from you guys.
Jay, Nice composition. Well packaged one. Is it Naattai based? Very well orchestrated. Great work. Radhika, Good job on your singing.

ajith, thansk for your comments,
yes it is the same Sunder. He is quite good, i have good oppurtunity now to record with him.
ms, regarding sridhars silence , last week ive been to NJ, we played some old film songs with Ramani (very good guitarist), suddenly sridhar got an acoustic guitar and start to play along , adipoiten, I know him for quite some time and I did not know that he can play the guitar,
he can do much more music...:)

Thats a great coincidence. He rocked the entire show at california. Vocal range is huge for Sundar besides his great voice and emotions. He froze me with his Keladi kanmani(exceeded spb's original rendition) & some soft numbers and drove me crazy during the fast numbers - On the fly improvisations on engeyum, dhool song was just great. Iam glad that I had an opportunity to hear him. He deserves a huge break, and I think he should approach music directors. Wish him a very good luck.

Jay- super piece great strings usage, recording is crystal clear.(lots of ambient feeling, jay signature perhaps :) )
superb rendering by Radhika.
Udhaya-nice work again man.

MS,
About the length of the song, Please read my earlier posting. I had to cook it up for 10 minutes from a bucch of casual recordings dues to time constraints.

In fact, it is not the original idea of the song at all. We had planned for tamil song with complete Sufi feel. Yet to get the right opportunity to work on it. Bringing people together when people have other jobs is difficult.
I would like people to get more honest, direct and offer their views. Especially, the "thirupaavai", Srikanth and I are extreemly eager to present it in way so taht it comes the de-facto standard for presenting Old text.

Folks, Heard the songs. Feels great that, we have great bunch of musicians around North America. Sundar is way too beyond. Virtuoso singer. Heard this guy's performance at New jersey last month. His ennadi meenaksi, mun paniya were much better than original numbers. His kanada alaap was amazing too - i think it wsa for ore manam song. best wishes, sundar. srikanth, your music is amazingly professional. you guys should strike larger audience. sridhar, great composition on the sufi number. It is equally catchy as varaga and extremely different in tune. Very very nice. Sundar has rendered it so well. He is cool. its high time, we should open a separate thread for him. Jay, your composition is very neat and cool too - I must say, very elegant and Attractive. Radika, Good singing.
Best wishes, Musicians. Way to go.
