IMHO AM is like this management sales guy in a company full of BS and no substance at all. he doesnt even like to get into the technicalities. whereas IR is like a techie engineer who doesnt want to do anything other than technical stuff.
In my experience if u leave 2 such people together the former will extract all the work from the latter thereby taking all the credit also. the latter after doing all the hardwork will sit "boondi" and have nothing to write home about

Kupps:
You are right.
I remember reading an interview of AM in which , when asked about RB's contribution in "Fiza" (BTW RB composed one or two songs in FIZA..Also they used ARR's song), he simple said that his contribution was just like others who work with him. He reiterated that FIZA was completely his own work. Wait...AM might now say that IR's contribution is even less than nothing.

CF..speaking about RB..director of AKS - Rakesh Mehra in an interview snubs an idiotic interviewer when asked "how he dealt with the techno-beats of AM?"....he clearly mentioned RB's name and his contribution - the link :
http://filmfare.indiatimes.com/interviews/june2001/06_28_2001.html
Filmfare Online: The music of the film is much talked about. How did you manage the classic poetry of Gulzar with Anu Malik's techno beats?
Rakesh: "The structure of 'Aks' is different from most movies. There are people from different schools who have come together, like - K.K. Raina, Mohan Agase, A.Palekar, Vineet Kumar, Tanvi Azmi, are all proficient actors. The entire cast has been chosen on the basis of my instinct and true feelings, rather than reasoning. Anu Malik and Gulzar have worked for the first time together along with Ranjit's arrangement. I have always loved Anu Malik's melody and grown up with Gulzar's poetry. The music is rooted in our Indian soil and based on our ragas. Ranjit has given a sonic sound design with his arrangement and background, hence the music reaches out globally. What's unique is that each song is a scene by itself that merges with the rest of the movie."

Hmmm,
What AM says does not matter. Even otherwise he claimed stake on Viraasat too. Atleast for this album every leading magazine credited IR (including Times of India) for the song. It will be childish to act childish against a child (AM). Why don't we think IR did it at the request of the producer? What else do we need when the producer asked IR to do that song (even when AM scored it and not satisfied?).
HFM masses never knew many of their hits come from down south. Any one makes a foul about that? In fact IR once said 'instead of going for court battle, I could compose more songs'. He also mentioned that his tunes are used and popular in North thanks to those copy cats.

It is really very sad that....I just don't want to simply say these words... but I feel that The Great Maestro Raaja should be attributed more credit by idolising for He is doing the real ground work pertaining to music but not Mr. AM who is enjoying the label of MD of Lajja (current discussion).
The Maestro can never be secondary...all these composers don't deserve to speak before HIM anything about MUSIC.
It is difficult to understand why the so-called film personalities producers/directors lack the simple sense of understanding that music for a film is the BACKGROUND score which is the real soul of a film..the songs are only a part of that.
Rev.Raaja who has BRREATHED LIFE into hundreds of movies is deprived of mention of his name on the publicity ads. This is a mockery of a LEGEND. I pray, the so-called, composers should realise and bow to the STALWARTS and admit where they exactly STAND before the MAESTRO.
God....Enlighten these innocent, ignorant modern composers!!!

I realised this long ago and I have voice my displesure over this. But, this muddle head IR fans, thought that I am being jealous and attcked me with words.
It is not an honour for IR to work with some body like AM. And AM certainly does not deserve even a slightest honour of having worked with IR.

Raja would have got invovled with Laja just because he was given a chance to write for Budapest Symphony Orchestra, Hungary. Practically there is no one in India who has got the calibre to write for such an orchestra (arr does very little western classical in his music), except Raja. So there is no point making noise about anu malik....he has just done some songs for cassette sales.... thats all...Raja has crossed all those stages....he should do only musically sound stuff like writing for a symphony orchestra.
See what Raja has to say about the BGM....http://www.raajangahm.com/news.html

i don't know why you people are so much incensed about anu malik. to his credit he is having many original, good albums. reg. others, he is just following other trend-setters.
what is wrong in ir doing only bgm for friendship's sake. he has always a soft corner for his friends and even unknowns
i am amused by your highbrow attitudes.

all i want to know is why IR did the one song for Lajja? He had clearly mentioned in a TV interview for Hey Ram, that he would never be part of a score that shared honors with someone else. I donno who compelled him. Even the one song seems better because of the mediocrity of the whole album.

confucius, r u talking about 'Hey Ram - oru isaippayaNam' that was telecast on Sun TV ? I dont remember IR saying anything like that in that interview. What was the context in which he said that ? What was the question that was asked ? and what reason did he give for not 'being part of a score that shared honors with someone else' ?

NagaS,
I borrowed that comment from Dr Samuel Johnson's criticism of some english novelist. I didnt know that Komal Swaminathan had used it too.

I saw Kamal's interview by Malan y'day (15) on Sun TV. Talking about Hey Raam, Malan mentioned that IRs world-class BGM in the movie mesmerised him, and said that he never ceased to be amazed by the fact that Abdul Kalam and IR came from such limiting backgrounds in TN, and went on to achieve such international quality work.
Kamal commented about how he had to go to his friend IR after all the songs were shot, and how IR had to compose within the given beats, frames, etc. kind of limitations. He likened it to the performance of a master magician who's tied up, bundled and locked in a cage that's then set on fire, but still manages to come out triumphant. He said that nobody else could've done what IR did for the movie, and that creatively HR offered him the greatest satisfaction, for its technical virtuosity in terms of music, art, camera, etc.

Anybody the new full-fledged trailers of Lajja? Its out in MTV and B4U music...at least thats where I saw them!
The BGM is incredible! Very contemporary! Since IR has done the BGM, I'm sure its by him. He's surely gonna win a lot of accolades for this BGM score, if hopefully the movie makes sense too.
But again, HF trailers have had a separate BGM track away from the main movie at times...Kasoor had a BGM of a few Enigma tracks! So anyone knows if the BGM played in the trailers are indeed from the movie and indeed by IR?

Lajja postponed?
By Taran Adarsh
Speculation is rife that Rajkumar Santoshi's LAJJA will not make it on August 31. The postponement is attributed to the fact that the music has not caught on in a big way and Santoshi wants to build the hype before he releases the film.
The second theory is that Santoshi's astrologer has advised him against releasing the film on August 31, since the shraddh period follows soon after. The film fraternity being a superstitious lot, avoid releasing their films during this period.
"I don't know who's spreading these malicious rumours," Santoshi sounds upset when I ask him if the reasons are true, "I haven't postponed the film. It's definitely releasing on August 31. I have even got the censor clearance."
The final length of the film is 3.10 hours, but Santoshi wants to trim the film by a few minutes before it hits the theatres. "I don't want the duration to exceed 3.05 hours," he divulges.
On the other hand, NAYAK will not make it on August 31. Hence, the clash of the two biggies has been averted.
