Any idea who composed this song 'Dhoora desam poReekaLaa, thuraththikkitte vaareegaLaa' song (sung by Sujatha and a male voice - srinivaas ?)., May be from Sinehithiyee by Vidyasagar,
This song is heavily inspired by IR's 'Arisikuththum akkaamakaLee' - especially flute beats !

Bach's violin concerto in A minor seems to be the
inspiration for the song kavidhaigal sollavA (uLLam koLLai pOgudhE )...The first 10 seconds of bach's piece reminds me the tune and the first interlude.

Hisham Abbas, the Egyptian singer has just launched his new album in India. The main track from this album 'Nari Narain' is already on air and the video is very ethnic and colourful. It also features apart from Hisham singing in Egyptian, an Indian singer, Jayshree T singing in hindi!
Now why am I saying all this in this forum? 'Cos if you recall, Hisham's earlier hit 'ahla ma feki' gave Sirpi his most popular song 'azhagiya laila'! So watch out for Hisham's interviews in the forthcoming weeks, maybe he might get to listen to his song's tamil version if travels down south!

you are right. But, I was one day watching a program in MTV called "Recycle". In that program they said that actually, that "Summer time" was originally composed by some jamican singer (long ago). Do you have any details?

"Megame Megame, Vaannila Theduthe" is a beautiful song sung by Vani Jayaram for Suhasini in "Palaivana Solai".
Once I heard a hindustani classical music over radio, sung by a famous Pakistani singer, and the the tune was identical to "Megame Megame". If any one knows the song and the singer, kindly let me know.

Yuvan Shankar Raja's 'Nilavaik konjam kaathali' (from album 'Rishi') looks like a recycle of 'paLinginaal oru maaLikai'.,

Interesting.
But, this kind of alledged similarity is what has made people think that ARR alos uses old songs for his new tunes. If you correctly see, the above mentioned two songs have no exact similarity, other that its flow (I don't know its musical term) and that makes you thing that the former is inspired from the latter. "Nilavai" song is not a great one and its just above crap. But, definitely its not an (heavy) inspiration of "palinginaal".
Also, somebody told me that,in the music just before the first stanza, it looked as if its been inspired or lifted from "Mission Immposible". Do you have any idea.

Common Friend.,
No idea about Mission Impossible music.,
But I won't say its a crap song., I liked the song very much - particularly the way Anu Shriram has sung the song., It was very opt to the movie situation (Sangavi :-)
I do see a similarity in the pallavi tune., Let me just say, If 'Enna vilai azhage' is inspired by 'thanga pathakkaththin maele' - this song is inspired by 'paLinginaal oru maaLigai'.,

May be. Even, I am so sure about MI. But, I just wanted to have others opinion too.
Rishi is not the film that YSR should often sign here after. The major part of MD's success in the industry today also depends on quality film. One of ARR's strategy is that. YSR should also follow that. He is not with out offers and he should do a good choice.

The first couple of lines of 'Saiyyaan' from "Nayak" sound dangerously similar to "Padagottum Pattama" from Chinnavar.

May be true. But the fact is saiyyaan seems to be very much a rajasthani folk song. Hans Raaj Hans is a perfect fit for the song as he is a popular desi singer. Also, the lyrics are very rustic. You tend to here such songs many times in DD national folk program with some rajasthani folk artist dancing to tunes played on a violin kind of instrument (one string and a bow). It used to be very fast and you will also enjoy the acrobatic dance of theirs.

Digression
I often see comments like this MD should not have accepted films like xxxx. He should avoid such films etc.
My question is why? What is wrong in accepting such films? If it were for an actor/actress then this claim is justifyable. But isn't it the job of MD to pick a film. After all what a MD gets is to tune a couple of love duets; viraham/love failure songs; a jolly hip movement beat oriented song; a kind of thaththuva paadal and a sentiment(amma, naadu) song. It could be a mixer of few of these songs in a movie. Very rarely there seems to be a change in requirement of songs. If at all there is going to be difference then it will mostly in the BGM part of the film. That with good story lineup, screenplay etc will need good, inovative, breathtaking etc BGM and that with M&B story line up may not need much inovative BGM. Also the concept of BGM is yet to get into the minds of our people. The so called 'educated A centre' people are also not much inclined to BGM. For them if BGM is not evidently out-of-synch then that is a great effort.
Given such a situation why should not a MD sign in many films? Why should he bias towards only a great(popular) producer/director/actor/actress movie? What is going to benfit him(MD)?
If the idea is that only the popular figures will demand good music then the same could be given by the MD on his own for not so popular figures' film and let the MD be more down to earth to others to boldly point out their requirement.
Isn't it a sense of insecurity if the MD feels that he would do only the so-called 'popular' and/or big(rich)-budgeted films??
I was not sure whether this is the right thread to write my long awaited question? If this is not the right thread then please direct me the right thread. I hope DFers would appreciate this point and would give in their opinion.
