Padma Bhushan award for K.J. Yesudas

K.J. Yesudas is among 27 eminent Indians selected for the Padma Bhushan award this year. The names of the winners were announced as part of the Republic Day celebrations. This is a very fitting award for one of the greatest singers that India has ever produced. Congratulations, KJY!!

  hey people,cmon u just cant compare yeudas with anyone else.....and just bcos spb sang a hindi version and kjy sang a malayalam version just does not make sense talking abt his limitations...and u all must b knowing that kjy has sang more than 10000 songs in over 20 languages which is a world record.....this is just a very small example for his talent....!

  sandeep, afa film songs, KJY need to learn a lot from SPB. Even KJY acknowledged that SPB is the best in that. KJY is unhappy with SPB because SPB maintains that he doesn't know carnatic music and he is not formally trained in that.

  man, pleas do not be so ignorant about other singers, just because KJY is your fav. For your kind information SPB has sung nearly 40,000 songs, no other singer in the WORL (yes, I mean the whole world) has done this, his name is also in the guiness books of records for singing the highest no of songs in the world.

  Hai Friends..Definitely SPB is a versatile singer..But don't compare with the superb voice and melodious singing of Yesudas..Yesudas is the best..No comparioson.. The Hindi numbers of Yesudas are much better than that of SPB and remember he was into Hindi film music when Mohd,Rafi and KK were at their bests..and those who understand music need no more explanation..KJ is the best..and for numbers..KK also has sung about 40k songs..just next to SPB..SPB has sung more songs than KJ only becasue of his ugly fast numbers in Telungu..

  Yesudas, the greatest melodious voice on the Earth, has nothing to learn from SPB, atleast in music..But one thing is true SPB has a much more attractive nature..quite simple,humble and talk and sing very freindly and attractively..He is a good singer too but only for MASALA kind of songs..The melodies sung by SPB would have been much much better if those were sung by KJY. What I understand is Yesudas had problems with great music directors such as MSV etc..which has affected his carrier in Tamil etc..and they promoted the next versatile alternative the Great SPB..let them be friends or even brothers..Dear YESUDAS pl. concentrate on Tamil,Hindi and other widely spoken languages than being confined in Malayalam(Hope KJ reads this)..You pl. understand that u r an icon only in Mal.   SPB and KJY are two great legends. SPB can sing any kind of song from dappangoothu to classical with ease. He is the most versatile and energetic singer that India has ever produced. KJY has a great voice compared to SPB but he cannot sing all kinds of songs. He is good at soft melodious and semi-classical songs. KJY is like a king only in malayalam field but SPB has ruled Tamil, Telegu and Kannada for so many years. When it comes to film music, SPB is slightly ahead of KJY. In carnatic field, well, there is a lot of legends to compare with KJY.

  KJY and SPB both are great singers. KJY was slightly better than spb in the past. but now definitely spb is better than KJJ. I think Kjj's voice has gone rough in recent times. Its not the same old KJJ's voice anymore. but spb's voice has gone soft and sweeter than b4.
  in the end the conclutions is both are great. i lov them both.

  KrishnaPr Rather I forgive..U deliberatly ignored points I have put in favour of KJY..I accept SPBs versality..But his songs just comes fom the mouth not from soal..I think this will satisfy u..KJ is ignored in other south Indian langauages for fast noisy third class songs that also is an acceptance of his celebrity only..then ofcourse he was never behind singing 30 third class songs a day which mostly survives due to instrumentation rather thang signing..Sorry if thistime I am too tough towards SPB..and remember KJ & SPB both r legends only in the south..that is a fact..and whole india is not south..MR,KK etc were also legends may be of more fame..nad KKs versality cannot be compared with anyone

  SPB is more of a mimicry artiste than a singer who sings the ha ha ha hi hi hi numbers and there is a huge fan following in Tamil and Telugu among ordinary filmgoers for this music which sits the jadka dances.Yesudas does not sing such numbers and cannot sing those well being a classical singer.If Shankarabharanam songs were sung by Yesudas it would have been really out of this world.Do not compare Yesudas and SPB.They are entirely different type of singers.Yesudas can be compared only to Mohammed Rafi,nobody else.Now among the living singers in India Yesudas is the best and nobody comes anywhere near him

  cmon guys there is no point fighting for who's the greatest singer its just stupid(IMO) to make such a comparison. the number of songs is no point for a comparison.
  
  yesudas is a class artist, he excels in all his classical based songs. infact those are the song for which he is remembered.
  
  spb is a more versatile singer. he has lot of variety in his songs. melodies, dappankuthu, fast numbers whatever.
  
  and hardcore fans of other singers. plzz this is not a place for u fight.

  Hi everybody,
  Actually there is no comparison between Dr. K.J.Jesudas and S.P.Balasubrahmaniam. K.J. Jesudas is the best, better than even Md.Rafi. Anyone dis agreeing with me will agree it after 20 years from now. Dont look at the number of songs sung by them. But compare the variety and the perfection in singing. S.P.B can never sing a song like 'NADA BRAHMATHIN" by G. Devarajan. It is not only God's gift but also the hard work he put on practising from the childhood days. Why I am comparing with Md. Rafi is because I heard "Chand akela". KJY s sound was a little boring in the early days of his singing. But from the age of 28 his voice has cultured under the training of G.Devarajan, V.Dakshinamoorthy, M.S.Baburaj, V.Raghavan, Salil Choudary and the classical music trainers. That culture is never acquirable for any other singers of our age. He is actually the God's gift for the Indians. Especially Malayalees since they have utilised him the best. He is a quick learner of his faults. If I writes a lot of his hit songs I will be only disappointed about the non-inclusion of many other hit songs by him. So I am not writing it.
