K.J. Yesudas is among 27 eminent Indians selected for the Padma Bhushan award this year. The names of the winners were announced as part of the Republic Day celebrations. This is a very fitting award for one of the greatest singers that India has ever produced. Congratulations, KJY!!

Is he supporting your family?
Is the fact that he is the best singer in India or not putting food on the table for you?
He sings to entertain and to make money for HIMSELF and HIS FAMILY. He doesn't give a rats asss if you are alive or dead or wether your family starves to death or prostitutes themselves for money.
Open your eyes moron and live for yourself!!!
He has a God given talent which he uses to better his position in the world. He'll sing and make money till his voice or his throat gives out and he would have made his money by then, and he'll be laughing all the way to the bank while you sit and fret and worry wether he is the best or not!!!!

sushma y - PJ has no song in parichay or "hum kisise kum nahin". If u r referring to Parichay, then u are probably mistaking Bhupinder's voice to be PJ's ("beeti na bitaayi raina" with LM, or "mitwa..." - SOLO). None of the films u have mentioned have any song by PJ.

I do like ARR songs as well. But nothing to beat the SPB+IR combo. You two are God's gift to us. HINDI SONGS OF YESUDAS CANNOT BE COMPARED WITH ANY OTHER SONGS OF HINDI. HE HAS GIVEN THE BEST IN HINDI FILMS. JUST LISTEN TO "TERI CHANCHAL" FROM MEERA KA MOHAN. NO RAFI NO KISHOR NO LATA CAN COME CLOSE TO THE YESUDAS. WHOEVER FIND FAULT IN HIM IS BEACUSE OF JEALOUSY OF HIS PERSONALITY.

Voice is a physical attribute which degenerates with age. Even God had to succumb to age if he's born as human!!! We can never get back the golden voices of PS (late 60's, early 70'S), SJ's(up to early 90's), KJ's(upto early 90's), SPB's hey days!!!(Thank God!! He can still sound young)Let us cherish the past memory and comment only on the current crop of young singers.Even if they come closer to the performance of KJY/SPB, TFM will be lucky.

You say for PS...upto late 60s, early 70s. I would say PS's voice sounds good till early 80s after which age took toll on her voice. Saying that her voice was good only till early 70s, would be a bit harsh on her, IMO. Do tell me what you think.

Please listen the two songs from the malayalam movie "soothradharan" composed by Raveendran. SPB sang the Hindi version "Darsane Paye More" and KJY sang the malayam version "Madhumayi Nin Mizhiyoram" of the same tune. This song clearly shows KJY's limitations.
And one more thing I noticed in KJY song is the last portion "nathiru dhiru dhiru Nathiru Dhiru Dhiru" is copied from SPB version of the song and reduced the volume of SPB's voice and put for KJY.

Yeah Av, you are right.
But her voice was AMAZINg in early 70's. I don't think any singer can sing these songs with the same quality:
1. Pennulagil minnum sindum punnagai yenna(Rickshawkaaran)
2. Enru vanda inda mayakkam(film???)
3. Adimai naan aanai idu(film Aval)
4. One solo song from Sumathi en sundari with lot of gamakams(I don't get the lyrics)
5. Aval yen sirithaal(kaase than kadavulada)
6. Paal nilavu neram with SPB (film ???)
