Padma Bhushan award for K.J. Yesudas

K.J. Yesudas is among 27 eminent Indians selected for the Padma Bhushan award this year. The names of the winners were announced as part of the Republic Day celebrations. This is a very fitting award for one of the greatest singers that India has ever produced. Congratulations, KJY!!

  K j yesudas not deserve Padmabhushan award.He got something which he is not eligible for.

  Dear Dasettan,
  
  I attended the 14th Yesudas programme of my life recently in Kuwait. It was only the third ganamela and the rest of them were all Kacherees.
  
  It was a wonderful programme. My satisfaction was that I could influence 3 to 4 persons who were working with me and much younger to me , to attend your programme. Will you believe me, they all attended both the days' programmes paying totally 20 dinars !!!! What I felt sad about was that they all managed to speak to you and get your autographs, something I never got a chance to do in the past.
  
  Te other disappointment was that I had noted down the entire lirics of some of the most beautiful songs that you have ever sung so that I could give those to you as audience's choice. However, I could never hand this over to you. Let me list them down so that you could still make these part of your routine list.

  This is a response to RVR:
  You are totally ridiculous in making those idiotic statements. When millions of people, not just malayalees, revere him as a musical genious, how can you say things like that? You must be either very prejudiced or just CRAZY!! I bet you may be humming Yesudas's song thinking that was sung by Jayachandran. I consider Jayachandran as very good singer but not in the same breath as Yesudas!
  
  Yesudas has won 23 Kerala State awards out of 33 awards (since inception in 69). Jayachandran got 3 so far!!! And from 87-92, Yesudas told the state govt. not to include him in the selection, so that others will get a chance. Additionally, 9 Tamil nadu state awards, 5 in Telugu, and 4 in Karnataka, 1 in bengali. Also he got the award for his hindi song (80). Only person to get 4 National awards in a row (90-93); he got a 6 national awards. Even he received the Lata Mangeshkar award despite her hatred for him. The great Chembai gave the "gold shawl" as recognition of his clssical music ability! I dont even know all the hundreds of titles bestowed on him by various organizations!
  
  Are you telling me, that he had influence all over India to covet all these recognition (one should remember that he was born as a non-Hindu). He got it purely because of his ability, nothing else.
  There has been no single male singer in India who has it all!!! even at age 60!!! He talent is GOD GIVEN as lots of people commented above.

  Just curious, if he was born a Christian and is now a Hindu, which God do you think gave him the talent? The Hindu god or the Christian god?
  
  If it was the Hindu god, do you think he converted just so he could get the talent?
  
  If it was the Christian god, then don't you think it was awfully wrong of him to become a Hindu after getting the talent?
  
  Also, if the Talent was God given, should the award be given to God as well and not to KJJ?
  
  Besides, who do you think gave the talents to Jeyachandran and such lesser singers? A lesser God? or do you think they developed it on their own?
  
  If they developed it on their own, don't you think they are more deserving of an award than KJJ who got his talent from God? I mean that's cheating isn't it?
  
  I believe KJJ got the award not because he is a great singer but because he still has a full head of hair even at age 60, and his beard hasn't even started graying. Now, that's an achievement worth Bharath Ratna

  Jeyachandran is the stupidest singer in the world. He has no chance in Kerala,Thamilnadu, and the rest of the world. He thinks he can sing so well but man is he wrong. He thinks he can get any fans to support him when he is the only one out there supporting himself. He is so slow too. Man he takes three days to finish an album when other singers can do it in 10 minutes. He sings like a goat being chased by it's owner.

  Sree p jayachandran sung his first song in HINDI language in 1972 for the film "PARICHAY".The song was an immediate hit.
  
  He sung in the film "yadon ki barat" which was kishore kumar's leading film along with Smt ASHA BHOSLE,which was not famous but a very good song.He sung as TRACK ARTIST in the film for Sree KISHORE KUMAR.The voice was better than kishoreji,but was discarded since jayachandran was junior to the singer.
  
  He sung with mohammed rafi in 16 films.There was a song which was left for Sree jayachandran to sing.
  
  The songs from various films from 1970-1980 are famous but not given publicity.Kya mein sundar hun,Pyara dushman,Hum kisi se kam nahin (OLD FILM) were hits by the effort of/magic of the melodious singer.
  
  The songs in films "NAUKAR',"JAI MATA JI","MELA","HIRA MOTI","RAKHI""HUM TUM","KASAM","KHILAUNA","MUMBAI SE","IDUL FITHAR","JUGNU","CHUPA RUSTUM","KUDRAT","PURVARISH","SUHAAG RAAT" ,"CHOTA MALIK","DURD",e"ZAMEER","PHANDE BAAZ","SOORAJ KAHUN YA CHANDA" etc can a hindi film lover can forgetso easily?
  
  The great singer sung in about 90 films and 200 songs in various films.He was not regular in hindi singing,but stopped singing after yesudas's CHIT CHOR came up in hindi.
  
  Yesudasfans accuse that kishore kumar was the person behind threatening him,after CHIT CHOR became a hit.But it is not truth.
  
  After a break he came back in hindi singing by singing in various films like HUM,MEHERBAAN,SHAHR,RUNG,ANADI,KRIPA KARO PRABHU,SUHAAG,CHORI,PREM,KANYA,KARAN ARJUN,ANKHEIN etc.
  But for past 2-3 years he is not regularly singing in hindi.He came back to malayalam playback singing may be the reason.
  
  He know all famous singers very well.Smt LATHA and Smt ASHA BHOSLE considers him like a young brother.Kishore,Rafiji appreciated his singing talent where he does it like magic...so easily.
  
  He used to give all information regarding good playback singing to youngsters like KUMAR SANU,UDIT and SONU.They themselves are good friends consider Sree PJ as their respected "GURU".This year also when UDIT got NATIONAL AWARD,he called Sree PJ to get his blessings.
  
  Abhijeet is not a student of Sree PJ.But,the three singers has a complaint about Sree PJ that their guru is not able to do well in HINDUSTANI music.They three agree that there is no other person in India who can sing better than Sri PJ.
  
  Sree Pj is more close to KUMAR SANU than anyone else.They regularly make discussions on hindi songs and music each other.
  
  Sree PJ is satisfied with his performance in HINDI.He is singing nowadays mostly in his mother-tongue MALAYALAM.
  
  He can't be compared with RAFI or KISHORE KUMAR iN HINDI,but together he is the best singer iN India

  lot of energy(fighting ability) is going in wrong side...i.e. quoting MalayaaLam songs and Hindhi songs in this forum.
  
  we need to tap it towards our forum...how??...mmm...yess
  
  PJ was given more songs than KJY, by ARR. In other angle, KJY was given more songs than PJ, by IR. Shouldn't this be a matter of discussion(what else IR v/s ARR fighting) here??
  
  Use this oppurtunity fellows...continue this thread towards that productive cause(IR v/s ARR) than digression.
