koli kokkara koli konda sevai koli....
Udith narayan and YSR pottu kelappitaanga
BTW, 90% of tamilians dont know how to pronounce Zha.
And also to clarify the false claims made by the tamil school teachers that tamil is the only language to have zha, malayalam also has zha and what more all malayalees can pronounce 'zha' beautifully unlike tamilians

V,
as u mentioned, Yeh-Rishta is good, The Piano bit was gr8, but i have heard a better version b4 ( i am not saying this is not good ) for ex in Brahma (Sathyaraj movie), i forget the song, this one goes from big orchestration to simple tabla, u could hear the bit ( a different one ), i kind-a of stick with that..
But my pick is Noor Un and the Telugu song.. and if ARR eliminates this Chayya Chayya guy for some better singer, i would love that (though it is my personal opinion).

V,
Dhuan, dhuan also kicks A$$... I am so happy that after a long time, IR came up with 2 really good complete albums PM and Virumaandi and ARR is kicking butt with KKS and Meenaxi..
Whatelse a real Music loving person long for.. and I am proud that they are TAMILIANS... Lots of musicians will come and go, but IR and ARR are here to stay and their music is here to stay for LONG...

The Yeh Rishta song is catchy but sounds somewhat like the thottu thottu song from Taj Mahal. Has ARR cleverly tweaked the Taj song to get this one? Specifically, I am reminded of the part "indha chelai vaangi kondu chelai vaangi kondu sondha chelai tharuvano" followed by the meLam.

Meenaxi is a very good album but i think reviewer went overboard giving it 10/10.
If you take ARR's hindi works then Laagan could get 10/10.
Dilse, Taal and zubeida can have 9/10 - may be 9.5 ;)
I would go with cumulative rating that is 8/10.

i liked meenaxi more then lagaan cuz of the variety in it

dhuan dhuan sounds like ada machchan from chinna veedu though slightly toned down in rhythm. The prelude itself seems to be inspired from the 'Island Groove' in Planet Drums by Mickey Hart.
There is no flowing tune in Meenaxi ..just some soft anonymous..'go nowhere' tunes. If Lagaan is 10, then this is 5 or 6. Ofcourse, the recording keeps getting better and better. Neither IR or ARR can assure a hit and ARR working harder/spending more time will not help. The best approach is to generate lots of tunes like IR and have the producers/directors select it.

Meenaxi
By Joginder Tuteja
'Culture of the Streets Films' present 'Meenaxi - Tale of 3 Cities' that stars Tabu and is directed by M.F. Husain (who earlier directed Madhuri Dixit starrer 'Gaja Gamini'). Set in the three cities of Hyderabad, Jaisalmer and Prague, it has Santosh Sivan as the director of photography, Sharmishta Roy as the art director, A.R. Rehman as the composer and Rahat Indori as the lyricist.
A new singer Reena Bhardwaj arrives - and she does this with style! 'Yeh Rishta' is a marvelous track that boasts of great vocals, wonderful music, pleasant locales, breath-taking cinematography and thoughtful lyrics! The track has variations and the singer does full justice to the nuances and subtlety of the track. This is another superb number by Rehman after a long-long time since 'Saathiya'.
In terms of overall setup, mood, sets, lighting and choreography, 'Chinnamma Chilakkamma' instantly reminds of 'Hamma Hamma' from Bombay. And the comparisons just do not end here. This full-throated song about love and lust by Sukhwindra Singh (who also writes this track) has enough potential to be among the top tracks if promoted well and aggressively.
With 'Do Kadam Aur Sahi', Sonu nigam sings his third straight quality song after the title song of 'Kal Ho Na Ho' and 'Ek Saathi Aur Bhi Tha' from 'LOC Kargil'. A soft number, it is a nice song to be crooned to your beloved. Rahat Indori's lyrics are fantastic which are truly complimented by Rehman. A wonderfully composed track, Sonu Nigam is at his restrained best and is in total control with this one.
'Cyclist's rhythm'- an instrumental, is an experiment going right. It starts in a subtle manner with the gentle ring of a cycle's bell and catches momentum as it progresses with heavy drumbeats and whistles.
Another instrumental based on the 'Potter's village' (which seems to be based in Rajasthan) starts with the 'matka beats' and later moves on to middle-east music style. Variety of musical arrangements are played in this instrumental, which are a treat to hear. This is vintage Rehman !!
Ashaji is at her seductive best in 'Dhuan Dhuan', which has amazing orchestra, wonderful sound arrangements and great lyrics. A song that should find place in a high league, it even leaves Rehman's last year 'Meherbaan Meherbaan' far behind. A song that should appeal to both the class and mass alike!
'Rang (Colour)', 'Tabu' and 'Rehman' had an association earlier also in 'Thakshak' in the hit track - 'Mujhe Rang De'. The same combination makes a return in 'Rang Hai' which has great rhythm with catchy beats. A celebration song composed in the traditional 'Hindustani' style, this should be another chart-buster for Tabu.
'Noor-Un-Ala-Noor' by Murtuza Khan and Qadir Khan is another masterpiece, which is a treat for the quality music lovers. M.F.Husain writes this track and shows his excellence in this genre as well.
Rehman's arrangements are superb to hear and one wonders what had gone really wrong in his earlier not-so-inspiring scores in 'Tehzeeb' and 'Lakeer', which carried lackluster and plain average musical scores respectively. Rehman is back with his vintage touch in Meenaxi hence his fans should have enough reasons to go for this one.
'Meenaxi' is a MUST for all the lovers of simple yet effective music.

just take a look at the other cummulative ratings and how very few people have participated in these polls except for rudrash.
Probably a group wanted to bring down the rankings - Kadavule.
Somebody is using a bot.
The album deserves much more than 3!

Dandanaka..
the moment ARR touches his tabla or played his guitar, key board or any instrument at all...he is copying IR, Western Music, Free Loops or any other MD's...
this is the claim done by our great "opposition party"...
they will keep on say....even when ARR add's "achoo" (sneezing sound)..they will say he heard IR sneezing and copied from that...
what can we do...
Irundavan kannuke yellame pei!...
and not to forgot...
Kaikirre marathilthaan kalladi padum...
