  Is "anbu nadamadum kalaikudamae" song from "Avanthaan manithan" is composed with
  "counterpoint". It'sone of the excellent duet by MSV.
  Sridhar Seetharaman, Srikanth or anybody please confirm this.

  There is a background to this song. The producers had intended to release Avanthaan Manithan by the month of May. But Kannadasan had to cooperate in providing the songs on time. Those involved in the production of this film told Kannadasan that they had to release this 175th film of Sivaji by May 1974. At this point Kannadasas wrote this song of Anbu Nadamaadum KlaikkodaMAY" with each and every line ending with the word "MAY".

  Avanthaan Manithan is the 175th film of Sivaji Gaesan. Sivaji had said in an intervies that next to Paasamalar he had acted well in this movie. As for the song you had mentioned,there is a background. When Kannadasas was delaying in providing the lyrics, the producers saw Kannadasan and mentioned that they intended to release the movie by the month of May, and insited him to provide the songs on time. Immediately he wrote the song "Anbu Nadamaadum KalaikkoodaMAY" in which he had ended each and every line with the the month "MAY"

  Avan Thaan Manidhan had some great tunes..
  
  Oonjalukku Poochooti - quite a positive feel.
  
  Aatu..Yaar Oruvar - watch the song for Sivaji/TMS 's `integration' of pain.
  
  Manidhan Ninaipadhundu Vaazvu - another song with a lot of pain.(excellent and depressing - leaves you in a strange state of mind)

  Even I loved the song very much. I literally got tears in my eyes after catching the song in my keyboard.. kannaakaanum kangal mella from agnisatchi...Only MSV can make such type of heart piercing tunes..

  After long i found this thread. I am closely following MSV's music. his orchestrations of sivandaman,server sundaram,any sridar's movie are class apart.
  
  I heard that for the song "madana maaligaiyil" MSV had composed two tunes. one was liked by sivaji(hero)the other was liked by the producer. But MSV had incorporated the two tunes in the same song. That was a work of a genius.

  the most famous song of msv is viliye kathai eluthu from urimaikkural sung by kj.yesudhaas and p.susheela for mgr and lathaa and this is the first song that kjy sang for mgr for the first time.

  my entire family is crazy about MSV music. we always use to say 'Avanthann Manithan' is something special. nice to hear same views from your people. one more speical is "Aalagarm kalayatha sillai oondur kanden" in Roojavain Raja.listen the violin bit in the interlude.

  MSV is great because he has never taken himself seriously beyond a point. From what I have heard he is a terrible task master and a notorious perfectionist (IR is not known to push people beyond a point and will finish the job himself if the musician is unable to deliver after repeated takes). However he is a man who has lived a full life in more ways than one and held himself from the precipice thanks to family. Mellisai from MSV is light but not simplistic - it lifts you up but it is never fluff - it is easy but vastly profound.
