Clarification
The Raja @166.90.41.96 is different. I am the Raja who started this thread. Now at this IP instead of 24.205.39.51 (I have changed to Cable modem connection which is why my IP changed)
This clarification is specifically for the benefit of WhyNot, Magix, curses, C~P and friends.

Uthaman, you think I don't know the game you are playing?
You can fool some people some time but not all the people all the time.
Romba saamarthiyam endra ninaipo? A few of us have already got on to your multi-faceted avatars. Poor you! Soon you are going to be caught red-handed!

'God' is muthipona case i think.. baba music review center edho chat room madiri ayiduchu.. i guess all magazines have 'kilichufied' this movie and its music.. Rajini looks like 65 years old in this movie.. he should act in 'appa' roles like Sivaji did. it might click...

The movie was AMAZING.... it is purely ANMEEGAM....
Anmeegam which is linked with STYLE and the current
situation in politics... HE HAS MADE IT COOOOOOOL. The
songs have come out really well. This time RAJINI has
danced v well and the dance has suited him perfectly.
ALL the songs r simply made for his style and
bandhaaaaa(ore kalakkal thaan).... STYLE CHANCEYYY
ILLA... simply the best.
Already in his interviews he has told about some
SWAMIJI in HIMAYA MALAI... BABAJI. The anmeegam is
purely via him.
I goes like this. Rajini is a special deiva piravi. He
is brought up like an ordinary person. Then at some
stage of his life, he gets 7 VARAMS from BABAJI. He
can make use of these VARAMS for any purpose. Rajini
utilizes them in a NEAT and STYLISH way.
Thats what its all about. All others stunt, comedy,
songs, STYLE especially.... make the movie a SUPER
DUPER FILM.
And in the end when it comes to a stage where he has
to decide whether to go to PURE ANMEEGAM or to STAY
BACK WITH THE PEOPLE......... what will he do?????
thats a v interesting and thrilling situation. He
walks towards himaya malai... and after stepping thru
a distance, HE TURNS BACK TOWARDS THE PEOPLE and
walks..... THERE ENDS THE MOVIE.
nothing more
bye :-)
balaji
WILL CONTINUE.....

I think you have a mental block.you are not able to stand someone being successful and popular. After Rehman you have chosen Shankar for your stone throwing.
Whether you like it or not Shankar is the ONLY DIRECTOR name that sells. You can check this independantly thru your Kodambakkam/Hyderabad sources.Actors who have appraoched him range from Sharukh to Vijay to Venkatesh.
He has really brought in professionalism into the industry.People who have visited his office & those who have worked with him tell us the corporate style of functioning with everyone having a defined role to play etc.
People who have worked with him like Sujatha,Balakumaran(writers),Tharani(sets),Venky (special effects),Rehman(music),VT Vijayan(editing),KV anand,Jeeva (Cameramen) have wonderful things to say about him and his professional approach. All these men i have listed have ACHEIVED recognition..with many national award winners and internationally known figures who know their job.
Well i have given you a list of names to throw stones at!(one is already in your hit list!)
Jamkalam pottu, ettu patti, panchayathu,Kuri solluthal, thali sentiment, hero worship -Evatril mmozhaga iruntha tamil cinema vai karai yetriyathu Shankar than.
BTW who is your favourite director? T Rajendar?

"Whether you like it or not Shankar is the ONLY DIRECTOR name that sells."
- So he is steven spielberg.. wow. i mean if shankar is the best director in TFM.. the god saves TFM.. look at the stories.. just becasuse he takes it in grand way, it doesn't mean they are good.. His approach to movies are 'masala oriented'. Just for the heck he would choose some social issue as the main theme. Can you tell me he made atleast one epic film like ManiRatnam or Balachander or Bharathi Raja or any other great directors? So Old is Gold... i didn't say he is a commercial failure. But his movies are junk for a pure movie fan. That's my opinion. You may very well see those movies 100 times. I don' stop you.
I think you have already started comparing shankar movies with 'village movies'... which i didn't do atleast. You can replace T.Rajendar with Shankar.. i don't think there is much difference between.. one is qualifed to make jungle stories .. other is qualifed to make stupid movies like kadhalan. Your standard is not beyond TR movies, Shankar movies, Village movies... You can't think of a Nayagan, Mouna Raagam, Salangai Oli...? which explains your standard.

Well well well....Let me then give my list of movies released in the 90's which I feel are good..
Gentleman
Indian
Mudhalvan
Roja
Bombay
Kannathil Muthamittal
Bharathi Kannamma
Porkallam
Karuthamma
Hey Ram
Kutty
Bharathi
Kasi
Love Today
etc and above all "Kuruthi Punal"- to me, the best tamil movie ever made..
Ofcourse 80's had good movies like Nayakan, Pesum Padam, Unnal Mudiyum Thambi, Vedham pudhidhu but most of them were from seasoned directors like Manirathnam, Bharathiraja and Balachander. Others usually followed the same Forumula..
90's was an open market where no individual dominated.. Ofcourse there were Junk movies but who wants to talk abt them.. I feel 90's had More meaningful movies than 80's..
BTW dismissing Shankar as a Bad director is a Joke..A true Movie Fan would never believe this.

Obviously Uthaman is no true movie or music fan.
When you have an agenda, common sense goes flying out of the window.

karthik... Gentleman, Indian, Mudalvan all had lame concepts.. High school student turning into a robberer, A man who could barely walk turning into a crusader with a poor varma art as his weapon, A man who is just an ordinary TV host turning into a chief minister for one day... Well sure he plucks stories out of thin air... Just because it is an expensive movie, that doesn't mean they are good... Look at the heroines in those movies, Manisha, Urmila, they look totally out of place. None of the movies made any sense.
Bharathi Raja, Balachander, Maniratnam alone were not there.. It is an insult to Balu Mahendra's epic Moonram Pirai, Mullum Malarum K.Vishwanath's Salangai Oli,Sippikkul Muthu, Fazil's Poove Poochoodava, Varusham 16, Manivannan's Nooravathu Naal, R.Sundarrajan's Vaidegi kathirundal, Naan Padum Padal, Rangarajan's Unnai Naan Sandithen, Udaya Geetham, Mahendran's Udiri Pookkal, Kai Kodukkum kai,Johny S.P. Muthuraman gave so many good movies too, Rajasekar's padikkathavan, Bharathi-Vasu Panneer Pushpangal, Sridhar's Azage Unnai Aradikkiren, Illamai Oonjaladukirathu,..
Bhagayaraj's Andha 7 Natkal, Thavani Kanavugal
Pandiya Rajan's Aan Paavam.. Robert-Rajasekar's palaivana Cholai.. R.Sirpy's chirai. Anbulla Rajini Kanth Great comedies like Thillu Mullu, Thambikku Endha Ooru, Manal Kayiru, Kudumbam Oru Kadambam i can go on and on... So don't even compare with 80s movies with 90s movies. What lacked in 90s movies lack of decent plot, even if they get one lack of effort to develop it, totally irrelevant hiphop songs to movies.. substandard acting, Bad BGMs. You cannot say MR a seasoned director in 80s.. Only in 80s he started his career.
" I feel 90's had More meaningful movies than 80's" (karthik)
Yea i saw one meaningful movie called 'Pudiya Mugam' (Face-off) remake.. The persons are supposed to be of the same height.. Look at Vinith and Revathy's husband.. They are like one feet apart.. What kind of a stupid must have directed this movie? 80s is unquestionably the golden period for music, movies and everything in TFM. 90s did give good movies.. but very very rarely.. but none could make an impact like 80s movies.. Even Masala movies had some kind of sequence. It is depressing to see the junk movies like Tamizh, Tamizhan, Gemini, O Podu ... etc..
We don't have Sivaji, Young Rajini, Kamal, Prabhu, Karthik, Revathi, Radhika, Lakshmi to deliver powerful performances. Look at the debutants these days.. pathetic.. I remember in Poovilangu Murali acted fantastically well.. Then his outstanding performance in Pagal Nilavu was a class act.. one scene where he says to Sarath babu "Onnu ponnukku annana pesu illa police karana pesu ippadi potta madiri pesada".. just look at his eyes.. great acting.. What do you have in 90s... telephone love, letter love, heroes failing to express love, various kind of loves.. . So get the facts right before concluding 90s are better than 80s

For morons like Uthaman, it is highly impossible to comprehend movies like Gentleman, Indian and Mudalvan.
Trained by IR on sex and lewdness, he will only classify movies such as Ponnu Oorukku puthusu, Sakkalathi, Antha oru Nimidam, Chinna Veedu, Auto Raja, Ennai Paar en azhagai Paar, Orey Mutham, Oppantham, Rani Theni, Rusi Kanda Poonai - these will be in his list of "class" movies.
His idea of ideal heroes are Ramarajan, Mohan, T Rajender, Raj Kiran and heroines, Jeevitha, Poornima etc.
What do you expect?? These mental retards actually enjoy IR's music!!!
Look at what happened to K. Vishvanath. He made a great movie called Sankaraparanam with heavenly music by KVM. The movie was not even dubbed into Tamil but made great strides all over and won several accalims.
And then, god knows what got into him and he switched to low class music of IR. After Salangai Oli which was saved by Kamal's acting, K Vishvanath just disappeared into oblivion.
People like Manivannan and R Sunderarajan rather than becoming sacrificial lambs at the pathetic music sense of IR, decided to make their lives more worthwhile by quitting direction and concentrating on acting, by which they did not ever have to face IR again.
Thus hideous is IR. No I am not talking about looks alone, but about the karum pulli.
Poor Sridhar. He was riding high in the 60s with the glorious music of MSV, but fate didn't leave him alone and came in the roobam if IR and virtually destroyed him.
But anyway, all is not lost. 90s saw a viduvu kaalam for Tamil cinema with the adevnt of ARR. The rest, as they say, is history.
