I did want to get a D12 initially, but then the experts told me I'd be missing out on the wonderful world of 'pc post-production' and here I am with a 1010 instead. :-) Btw, your songs are very cool too.
I'm still experimenting with my Triton+Multi-track S/W, which means that it won't be until atleast 6 months before I produce my first decent song. But the learning process is a revelation, esp. on the Triton...loving every minute of it.

Hi Eswar...
Sorry for not being able to write. Finally finding some free time. YOu had mentioned that you use Goldwave..I had been to their website www.goldwave.com and saw their Multi-track recorder 'Multiquence' featured there. I need a multi-track recorder and this is quite affordable too ($45). Do you think it is worth it or are there better ones available in the market ?

Umesh,
You could download the Goldwave, and try it out for sometime. I am happy with the features it gives, and it is pretty sleak too. Why don't you download a demo, and check it out. Please check your e-mail.

Eswar,
Was just going through the various postings today when I found that you have written some kind of tutorial for FruityLoop. I had it downloaded long time back but couldn't make much of it. If you can send me too your tutorial, it would be of much use to me. I do some composing once in a while for a Radio station here. By the bye, I have uploaded some of them at http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/394/vishvesh.html
I do all the recording with my old PC and a basic version of cakewalk. I am planning to work on developing all that I have been doing in bits and pieces and any kind of tutorial as you seem to have written would be of great use to me.
Thanks.

Vishvesh,
Actually, I have never written a tutorial. I was thinking of writing one for my friends, when I heard that someone here wanted it too. Then more people said they would like it. Well, I could definitely send it to you when I am finished with it.
Thanks,
Eswar

Aditya,
Thanks for appreciating. It is always nice to get a comment like that from a fellow musician.
Eswar,
Thanks in advance. Please do keep me in your mailing list for sending your tutorial whenever you are done with it.

Question :
I remember Swamiji (I think) mentioning here a long time back about the technique to develop perfect pitch recognition. I remember he mentioned some books that help "train your ear".
I have some experience in performing songs on stage (preceded by endless sessions rewinding and rewinding and rewinding and figuring out what was played in the song).. and now Im learning some classical piano. I am really keen on developing the technique to figure out bass lines and chords from listening to tapes.. I guess Swamiji can do this pretty well and is apparently a "jAmbavAn" in this if I remember right :-) Please guide me on this issue.. Ill be eternally grateful.
Please do not say that "5-il vaLayAdhadhu 50-il vaLayAdhu".. even in that case Im only 24 , so pAdhi vaLanjAkkooda Ill be happy !!

Hello,
could anyone suggest a nice interface for recording audio signals (from Guitar/violin) onto a computer (I use cakewalk)? preferably a USB one that also has a MIDI in/out. I checked out the Midiman QUATTRO but not quite impressed with the price (250) against functionality....
thanks for any comments

Guys,
Looks like there is no update from anyone's part. BTW, did anyone check out the new FruityLoops 3.5. They released the demo today I guess. I am waiting for my regcode, which may come very soon. I can't wait. Looks like there are some major upgrades on it.

Hi Eswar...
Found Multiquence a very easy to use tracking and sequencing software. Thinking of buying it soon.
Is Fruityloops very easy to use too ? I mean where you can just import in wave files, drag-drop...record when other tracks are playing etc ?

Cosmic :)
FruityLoops is a composing tool, not a recording software. I am glad that you found what you are looking for. BTW, by the looks of it, I guess you are planning to use the software for 'live' programmes? Is that so? Will write to you later regarding the progress of the 'e-band' thing that we talked about.
Laters,
Eswar

Eswar..
Multiquence is for multi-tracking. I want to add vocals to looped rhythm and bass sections. I record the rhythm and bass sections through my Creative MP3Blaster keyboard (it works only with with a Creative Soundblaster card). Next, I'll import these into multiquence and try to add voacls. I hope this is the right way of going about it. Have you tried adding vocals to your compositions ?
BTW I have upgraded my PC to AMD 1.6 Ghz, 512 MB RAM...but yet to get down to serious business.

Cosmician,
Yeah, I get you now. Well, if I need to add extra sounds that doesn't belong to my instrument track, I usually use the hard way of mixing - Using wav editor - for which I use Goldwave - which is decent enough for me. If I need to add effects - I use FruityLoops itself for that, since I can load external sounds too. The timing is a little difficult to achieve - got to slug on it for a long time to make it perfect. Otherwise, the current setup for me is perfect for my work.
That is a good machine - what is the sound blaster? Consider Creative Audigy - they say it is good, though I have not used it myself. I am planning for an upgrade, but God knows when I can sit on it.

Thanks Eswar...
Is it possible in FruityLoops to record a new track while you play the other tracks ? Multiquence has this feature but I am still struggling to get a hang of it. Have to read and re-read those Help files.
