comment,
It well know KA had contact with IR during making of Kalakar, regarding remaking of songs. I think its a great gesture by KA to use a song from a junior MD, IR must have tried to show his respect to KA in return.
By your logic B.S.Boys never took a song from deva.

"nalavellai bach, mozart yarum
ippo illai, else world will be filled with exchange music of bach-ir, chopin-ir mozart-ir etc poor mozart missed a
good exchange chance."
Prove your above statement for atleast couple of IR songs
with proper source. Just because you have soft corner to
MSV/ARR you need not slice mud on IR. You are NO different
from the so called fanatics of IR/ARR who bashes each other
in this forum.

Vijay
thanks for that wonderful link to guitarist Sharon bin, once again nobody can come up with artist work music or painting without some external influence and that is nothing wrong with.
IR fans please dont be mad. And IR also have borrowed Chords from few western songs.
But you cant call that copy .
If each one you start to compose music you will understand what I am saying.
Comment,Swamiji can explain this one
using similar/same chord patterns
for different songs.
Will that too be a copy?

I was just wondering about these two songs
Chicago's 'I don't want to live without you'
and Guns N Roses 'Novermber Rain'
they seems to have same chord pattern
Can someone care to explain or correct me?

Yep Comment and Vijay were right. They can be called copies, atleast the preulude music in IR's version.
UV, same chord patterns in my opinion doesnt imply cpoying.

I heard kanavugale kanavugale kalaindhu (KJY )...from Anandha raagam . I think the first interlude is very inspired by Dvorak's Symphony no 9 ( from the new world - the third movement) Though not a direct lift i was instantly reminded of the symphony .Can somebody confirm ?

Well after hearing Guitarist Sharon's piece from Vijay and the other examples from Comment ...I think this should once and for all put an end to false accusations of calling ARR a compiler etc...and a new definition for Copying, Lifting, Flicking, Inspiration etc. should be given !

kk,
I would appreciate if you read the postings more carefully in future before writing something just for writing sake here..I posted that "entha poovilum vaasam undu" link not because I "discovered" it yesterday and wanted to let you know about it..but because Sabesan wanted to know the year in which it came and details like that..
In fact I would like to bring it to your notice that the copied songs list(which was compiled more than a year back) was a joint effort with myself being one of the initiators and contributors...
- From: vijay (@ 129.252.222.2)
on: Fri May 18 18:00:24 EDT 2001
UV and others,
Agreed that IR has given innumerable number of original melodies..but you shouldnt be afraid to call spade a spade..I have posted the link..listen to it once more..
the WHOLE pallavi of "entha poovilum vaasam undu" is a lift not just the prelude music..
So I have attempted to put an end once and for all to this confusion of who copied from whom..
its clear IR COPIED from Antonio Ruiz-Pipo, atleast the pallavi..
(Pleae note Iam an ardent IR fan just like many of you guys and have discussed and argued with comment on IR/ARR many a times in this forum since 1997 :-)) So, my objective is not to degrade IR by exposing his copies/lifts here..I was just trying to answer a quesry by Sabesan, thats all)

ok i think now i remember what i was asking Sreeks long time back.... it was not about this song, if iam correct it was "En Jodi Maanja Kooruvi"..... someone had provided a link (Vivaldi ??) wherein the start of the song was exactly the same..... so there was this doubts - if it was really by Vivaldi..... yes, i remember hearing this entha poovilum vaasam varrum some time back itself.....

What is the name of the pop-group(and the song)from which this "Badri" song has been COMPLETELY lifted?(in which Vijay is dressed as a coolie)
or.....is that pop song also by the same M.D?(Ramana Gokula)

Thanx for your excellent link. As somebody latter mentioned IR has chosen , probably a right tune to lift. I remeber, one of my uncle (he is a IR fan) mentioning about this perticular violin piece of Ir in this poovilum song always as greatness of IR. Anyway, I still beleive inspiration is nothing wrong and thanx to IR for using such a beautiful tune for his song.

CF aka ARRfan, thanks for exposing yourself as cheap. I never made any such post yesterday on 18th. I think people here are smart enough to go a page back and check what I have posted..if you want to say something say it staright without resorting to cheap tricks like these..

In that case, it would have been enough to just mention my name instead of posting the whole header to make it look as if I posted that..either way its stupid..

the new soundtrack "Moulin Rouge" has Chamma Chamma song in it..and its named "hindi sad tunes"
amazin how westerners did a straight lift-off job here..

baz luhrman, the director of moulin rouge, has said that his modern musical gives a recognition to all types of current 'musical' trends ESPECIALLY bollywood musicals. if you see the cd sound track u'll find credit to the appropraite artists.moulin rouge is going to be huge and maybe bring back western musicals.who knows

raju, if i am right, they did it with proper permissions and employed the same choreographer for the song, i think. no lifting there, i guess.
