  All the achievements were done not with the intention of proving that Tamils were better, they were done in a effort to be the best they can be. When it suits us, we group ourselves either into Tamils or southies or computer engineers or Iyengars or Madrasis or Indians or Asians and whine about all the injustice in the world. Let us try to do our jobs better and not worry about whether every deserving Tamil has got a National award or not.

  tms and ps may be good for you but lataji is the singing voice of India. Every one in the world of any age knows lataji.
  Lata Mangeshkar is true BHARAT RATNA.
  Even my parents have not heard about tms and ps. tms and ps are known to people only in tamil nadu. They have not achieved even 1/1000 th of what Lataji or Rafi has achieved.

  I don't know where u'r parents are from, but naturally vm and tms will only be known to tamil as their work evolves around tamil language.
  
  Lataji and Rafiji were successful because the language was known to 70 % of India, if tamil was known to 70 % of India, then probably vm and tms will have been as successful as them.
  
  So stop bragging dude, you sound pathetic. And before talking about the president of our own country think twice, Learn to give respect to the great man, don't bring him between your dumb and pathetic discussion.

  AV - now you are going too far in the pretext of rebutting OISG's (a bit exaggerated) comments.
  
  There have been so many people who fought against the British - so many (Kattabomman, Marudhu Brothers et al.) before the 1847 war itself. There have been many others in the 20th century - Bharathiar, VOC, Thiruppur Kumaran.. I don't blame you. You cannot find all this in the history books that national councils like NCERT provide. I learnt all this from my Tamil lessons in school & watching Tamil cinema. In fact, the gross neglect of Tamil history & culture in our textbooks is another case in point.

  Why no mention of Bharati wrt to Freedom struggle. I am not sure whether Tagore contributed in Social consciousness area as Barathi. Barathi wasn't recognised a bit in North. The basic issue Tamils like to know more of other states, cultures, music etc. How many in north knows our artists, culture. Like OISG said, comedy in Hindi movies/serials is a south indian (Tamil) doing funny things as if they are the icons of intelligence.Sivaji didn't get any award while Rajkapoor does. "azhukku" rendu paakathillum irukku..... even today for us "SARDAR" talks like an idiot only in films..... did u know many actors in HINDI during SIVAJI's time - DID recognize him..... don't expect that from the new generation now (that includes' stars from our side too)...... basically, we need a HELL of a "push" to get all these SILLY awards...... of course, they (northies) do think that "THEY" are one step above..... lets prove they r WRONG.... that's the thing that we can do, right ? and this "up", "down" thing is there in each and every thing.....   Making fun of South Indians in Hindi films is crass and unfair. For that reason I hate the song "ek chatur naar" and the film Padosan and even Mehmood in general (I have heard he is a Kannadiga Muslim???), because the film shows South Indians in poor light. But look at this - in the "Tribute to RDB" concert, SPB *HIMSELF* sang the song "ek chatur naar". If North Indians are to be reprimanded for making fun of South Indians, SPB
  must be severely punished and questioned for making fun of his own people. He should not be spared at all in any manner.
  
  And don't all Indians (including South Indians, including Tamils) make fun of the Sikhs? Aren't we all used to those utterly idiotic Sardarji jokes? How about that? And even the Marwaris, i.e. the Seths, have been shown in poor light in South Indian films, I am told (not sure about this last part though).

  Your statement likening JJ/Mu.Ka to Lallu cannot be accepted at face value. They may be good examples of 'power corrupts'. But they had pretty solid credentials before coming to power. JJ was State topper in PUC or something like that. Imagine a fatherless girl going that far. Mu.Ka is only too well-known for his contribution to litt. Wanna bet on the Laalus having seen the inside of a school?
