Melody Queen of South Indian Film MUsic - Is it Janaki or Susheela or Vani or Chitra?

Who can be conferred as the Melody Queen of South Indian FIlm Music .
Is it S.Janaki or P.Susheela or Chitra or Vani Jayram..?
I think Janaki is the best of all and she should be conferred as the Melody Queen of South Indian Music

  How would you expect him to know about PS who was ruling TFM much before pranava was born.

  Yes, she is still ruling.
  Pls Hear Anjanam Pottu from Udhyaa.
  She aslo performed in Chennai ARR Music concert. It was really very nice to hear her voice there.SHe is able to do stage shows for 3-4 hours continulosly.

  Yesterday, I heaard the song "Shiva Shiva Ennada " ammo I was really stunned . Such a wonderful rendering by S.Janaki. It is of 2 raagas and Sj ahndled very easily. Hats of to S.Janaki

  Today I listened to the song "kAdhalan vandhAn kaN vazhi sendrAn kaNgaLai moodu paiNgiLiye" from 'moondrezhuththu' (MD: TK Ramamoorthy).. Very sweet song with such an attractive and melodious and 'mayakkum' voice by PS. After the 2nd charanam, she starts again with very quick up and down of the Pallavi line.   try to see sangeetha sagaram being telecasted in asianet during tuesday at 9.oo pm.
  s.janaki gives a marvellous interview and sings a lot of malayalam,tamil,telegu,hindi,kannada ............songs in her divine and golden shrilling voice.
  janakiamma is still ruling our southindian music world.
  she is singing regularly in the music of rehman,vidhya sagar(malayalam),bharani..............there are a number of songs to be released in the upcoming films!!!!!!!!!please wait to hear her treat!!!!!!!!

  Hi pranav and others,
  did U ever listen to any soul searching music in Tamil or telugu(sorry I do not know much about kannada and Malayalam).What is that U are looking at when it is concerned with music(is it voice, is it expression, pitch?)
  U have mentioned SJ as best , No ego dude.I can challenge U with a song sung with greater ease and whatever U expect by P.Suseela the great.
  Could I give U a suggestion. I will give U some no's in Tamil and Telugu(probably they might be in kannada too as MD's are Satyam and Rajan Nagendra ).
  I can list some no's which were by Ps in telugu and SJ in kannada.Thank God we have PS !!!!!!!
  It is a pity because of IR , PS couldnt share the limelight from eighties which she should because of a small rift with him.Otherwise PS would have ruled Tamil Film industry.
  As to speaking of South Film music Tamil and Telugu industries were the most popular( in terms of remunerations for singers, I am not mentioning heroes and heroines)
  and PS at her hey days could have concentrated on only these two.How many songs can a singer sing?If given a chance for SJ or any singer they would have done the same.SJ was nowhere in Tamil or Telugu until the advent of IR and she was singing in titbits for small characters and cabaret no's.I dont mean to say that is bad.Music is Music.
  But it is all timeand fate and a singer(PS) of such high calibre ,quality indepth voice is now compared on par with other singers.What a pity.
  Okay since U say U a re from bangalore , I happened to watch few films in kannada .
  One movie was Shara Panjara.What a movie!!! Great actors!!Great Music by VijayaBhaskar. If one listens to PS we can experience all sorts of rasas in those songs.U can experience sadness, hatred, love, anger in those songs.the kaveri song wherein the echo in PS and PBS voice modulate, it is so enchanting.
  Of course each person varies in taste.
  Can other singers bring out the best of all expressions?
  I can only say a singer is yet to be born to compare with PS.Its up to you'll to brand who's the best.
  I feel "Gangai karai thotrum" from Vanampadi by Ps is a song which can never match any singer's ever best no.U please forget PS.SJ or any other singer.Just listen.Then please replyafter U have heard"Kaneer perugiyathe"
  Even IR when he used SJ for almost all songs and never gave PS much songs in Telugu had to bow to her for the "Laali Laali song " in Swathi Muthyam.Listen to this song in telugu as the lyrics are great!!! Listen to her singing "Jo jo jo " and U can say that is the best ever lullaby in recent times.
  Want a folk, sizzling or romantic no anything.
  Ia m ready to take brickbats but please prove it with a song and please figure it out without any partiality or a particular singer in mind.
  My vote is for Ps after listening to some hundreds of no's by all singers.It is really not to boast, but to prove my point that PS is PS.

  Hi Vidya, I totally agree with u. SJ can no way be compared with PS. PS is far far superior than the rest. True that SJ's popularity was because of IR's patronage. I feel SJ sings with a pseudo voice.

  I appreciate vidya's belief that 'PS is far superior to SJ.' But no matter how big a message vidya posts, I would still look at it as "vidya's opinion," and not as an established fact. Regardless of the number of examples cited, vidya's assertions still remain someone's personal opinion. Do I agree with vidya? No. Is vidya's message convincing? Not to me. Is vidya a better connoisseur of South Indian music compared to me? I don't think so. Why don't I agree with vidya? Because, according to me, *MY* judgment is the best one. I hear music through *MY* ears. I enjoy music using *MY* brain and I make judgments based on *MY* experiences. There may be people out there who are living a miserable life, unable decide who is the better of SJ and PS. Those people may be easily influenced by seemingly convincing postings such as vidya's. Sorry, not me.
  
  If you ask me who the best female singer is, my answer will be S. Janaki. But hey, that's *MY* opinion. That's *MY* belief. I am not here to endorse my belief on others. I am not here to fight. Everyday I see numerous threads on this forum debating on who is better and who is the best. In my humble opinion, there really is no such determination. For instance, comparing SJ with PS is not like comparing 200 miles with 100 miles. It's not like comparing 50 acres with 60 acres; and not like comparing 8 Rupees with 5 Rupees. There's no tangible unit that one can use to compare these two great singers with each other. The only difference that they have is the set of people that likes them. (For instance, vidya is in the group that likes PS and I am in the group that likes SJ.) Other than that, they are both equally sweet, equally capable and equally talented. Of course, my *personal* preference is S. Janaki. Given five minutes, I would always prefer to listen to an SJ song than a PS song. Given fifty minutes, I would still do the same thing. Why...? Because I like S. Janaki's songs so very much, and *PERSONALLY*, I am so convinced that SHE IS THE BEST. (Of course, it's my personal conviction.)
  
  A singer's talent is not measured by the number of songs by her/him. It's not measured by how long she/he has been singing. It's certainly not measured by the language in which she/he sings. A singer is appreciated and deemed "The Best" by individual listeners like vidya, me and other listeners like you. In my opinion, all it takes is *JUST ONE SONG* for a singer to impress a listener. For me, the best is Janaki. I am not here to give examples of so-called "wonderful songs." Because you may not like the songs that I like. The subtleties that I like in certain songs may not be the ones that you appreciate. Remember, 'one man's treasure is another man's trash.' Will I go around trying to convert PS fans to SJ fans (like the way some religions operate)? NO, I will not. Because I appreciate everyone's opinion. (Look at the first line in my posting.) So, dear friends, let's just enjoy good songs by good singers, rather than waste our energy trying to argue that one singer is better than the other. Hmm... reminds me of the classic question: "Who has the best mother?"

  wonder why makkale still fight for p.suseela and s.janaki. for both, their peak time is over and now they are history / reference for cureent singers. now so many are ther like chitra, s.latha, sujatha etc etc.. \but no one fights for them.
  
  so dont you all sense that these 2 are still in the 'respectful' books? being this is true, why fight? shake hands with each other anmd enjoy music of suseela & janaki.
