IR with MR again?!

Dear Friends,

Yesterday's Maalai Malar Cinema Malar (July 5, 2001) says that MR and IR are joining again as if it is a confirmed news and that the hero will be Surya. The same news was put up in www.tamilcinema.com too. What do you all think about the reality of this news?

  Magnasounds "thiruda thiruda" is still the largest sold tfm album. It was estimated as close to 10 mil even b4 the movie was released. "cinema express" and "india today" released those #'s and specifically mentioned them as beating "agni natchathram" which prev held the record.

  the #'s sold due to expectations should be consistent for all albums , certainly much higher for ARR. But not significant enugh to account for 80% of the sales.

  he he now u dont even know how the sales r determined. Cassattes r bought by shopkeepers from retailed stores which in turn buy from the companies. The counting is done higher in the heirarchy. And cassattes r produced and sent out shop keepers on demand. Shopkeepers will never have excess cassttes unsold for long. They always buy in reasonable consighnments based on the buzz and the affordability.
  
  pirated cassattes r a bane everywhere and its the same for all and dont accnt for much of the sales. plus its been banned reasonable

  yah! now pick only the -ves from some remote corner. if u have to condemn this and the naval showing buisiness tfm wud be outt by now.
  
  I always go by the industry standard and as to who manages to raise above it. Yes shankar does good visuals but IMHO he doesnt get all songs of high quality made from rehman. he carefully suits the songs to his liking. He has a powerfully paced narration style, he is bold to come up with stories like mudhalvan and he extracts better performance from artists. he is altogether more current and modern reaching out to the younger generation. with the exception of jeans I dont have any problem with him as a director.

  When I mentioned Mouna Raagam, I meant MR shot into fame after that and that helps sometimes with sales of cassettes. MD, Actors, Director influence the sales of cassettes. Regardings sales=popularity, you should read eden's posting.
  
  MR had access to best resources and how he handled those in song sequences is something below, below standard. For example see the treatment meted out to Dhalapathi. For Raakkamma song, you see dancers gyrating their hips for the entire song. Just by posting my opinion on a famous director makes me belittle, I beg to differ with you. No one is above criticism and no one is best in all fields. Dilse good picturization? ARR must have felt sad to see the chayya song on picture. Minasaara Kanavu, Kaadhalan, Kunumon's films, Shankar's films, to an extent BR films, songs were given importance (means picturized well).

  see there r some facts like good is better than evil and some very fundametal facts like 2 > 1. those dont need arguments. I agree MR's picturization of songs will not fall in such a category.
  
  But I wud say this, as a person who has been shouting hoarsely all along that ARR gives his best to MR not only bcoz of MR's mantor status but bcoz of good value of songs he gets by picturization. IMHo MR stand #1 in song picturization in india. I wud personally say
  1) Chandralekha -TT
  2) thee thee- TT
  3) Raja rajadi rajan- AN
  4) Ninnukori varanam - AN
  5)pudhu vellai mazhai - roja
  6) dilse
  7) saat rangi re- dilse
  8) Rakamma kaiya thattu - dalapathi
  9) vanam namakku bhoomi! - anjalai
  
  are some of the best songs picturized in IFM history. However ur warped view of anti MR bias potrays a different shade.

  Minsaara kanavu's only well picturized song was "vannilave" and the whose choreography and setting was a blatant copy.
  
  I agree shankar picturizes very well which is why i like him. He depends on some computer gizmo(i like that too) but MR is more natural.
  
  who is kunumon? i dont know but if its kunjumon plz ! u gotto be kidding
  
  I still cant recollect any of BR's videos known for picturization and I have seen almost all his films more than once.
  
  see! when u say MR's picturization is pathetic u r like critisizing the pioneer of music videos in India. He may not be the best director around but he was the one who introed the concept of music videos in india!
  
  its like sayin MJ doesnt know to make good music videos and stage shows, or gene kelly is a lousy dancer or prabhu deva has iron feet, IR composes nursury rhyme stuff,
  
  anyway why i am i wasting time... u r probably determined to argue pessimistacally just for the sake of negativity.. i dont care. I wud be surprised to find anyone subscribing to ur view that MR doesnt give good song picturization!

  imho, initaially, mr didn't care (or didn't know) much about picturisation. but after nayakan, he became a noteworthy for his direction and picturisation.
  
  even if his movies are not good, picturisation is appreciable as in uyirae, tt.
  
  but, shankar? he simply spoils good songs like kannodu kaanpathellaam, kurukku siruththavalae.
  
  tpically, in all his movies, picturisation is good for only two or three songs.
  
  but, nowadays, most of the songs are wasted by all directors. like minnalae and dheena

  The news that IR and MR are together again itself
  is not confirmed yet.Adhukkulla picturisation pathi arguments aarambichacha?I don't believe this news.I'am also fed up and tired of this.
  IMO Mani will never join with Raja anymore in his lifetime and vice-versa.This thread has to

  recently in M'sia, singer SUjatha said she has been booked for the new movie of MR. I really expected she'll reveal who's the MD but unfortunately it doesn't cross her mind.....one for sure...MR is back again with one new movie for us. Most probably with ARR again!
