TFM DFers Reunion - Class of 9x, 2kx - Down Memory Lane

Hi All,

Apologise for this sudden and unusual thread.
We have regular contributors and silent watchers in these forums, some new, some have been there since inception of the forums. Today we have a lot of new faces and there will be more.

I am just curious to know about which year/month did you join in the discussions here..

..I still remember chancing upon newtfmpage in Jan 2001 and sparking off a war in the 'IR's latest' thread unknowingly without realizing the ongoing IR-ARR fans blood feud ! A few of the DFers who were around (and are still)around were : kiru (the audiologist), bharath (a new generation fan), swami (sangeetha vidwan and once Bharath's nemesis!), common friend (a balanced fan), ambleen, eden(who got hurt when I said that he was still stuck in the 70s!), Karthik S (the music dealer who can make out a fake from an original!)...and a lot more interesting people that I have not mentioned !

Could you guys/gals tell us when and how you joined the discussions here and also narrate any funny incidents or discussions that had happened ?

  peeps, why r u dying to see kupp's photo? Wat do u reckon u'll get out of it??
  it's not going to logically prove tat kupps is diff from bharath, since the photo posted cud be easily somebody else', so wat else do u think u'll discover from kupp's photo?
  btw, kupps lives in chennai too (dont u kupps?). So does no jalra, vels, magix and a bunch of others. So why dont u guys meet up?
  Then u can post a group photo of ur get-together and the rest of us can try matching personalties wit faces.

  I saw few songs by chitra on stage on that day..she is one of the singers who tries to reproduce the same effect of the song in stage also..not like spb or mano or anuradha sriram who try to produce something diff from the film version..mmm...chitra vukkum vizha edukka arambichitaanga..is she that old?..:-)

  Fliflo: unfortunately Indhu doesnt come here anymore..remember how she used to walk out of the thread several times vowing never to return? Her former housemate Naaz says she moved out of the house early this year and will be returning to Mumbai end of the month. But now Naaz seems to be Missing In Action as well...maybe he decided to accompany Indhu back to Mumbai.

  Whynot,no thats what *I* felt on the very day Mr. Naaz Ahmed started the thread (under Indhu's name). In fact if u read the VJ thread and this one there are so many common phrases...the style of writing, indeed the flair, was common to both. And again there were many phrases typical of him that were found on both threads.
  
  I wonder why Naaz has stopped posting suddenly. Guess, we have discussed LOTS about VJ. And I have fought MAXIMUM with him. And enjoyed it thoroughly. (And I did not leave him alone on the Mumbai Moham thread either. I too posted with another name. Try and find out what that was, it wont be too difficult :-))
  
  But he is a good,decent,cultured guy...a polyglot knowing 12-14 languages (mostly Indian), a film critic by profession, a student of Hindustani classical under none other than Jitendra Abhishekhi, a person having great command over English. And a doctorate in cultural studies from a very prestigious institution. And has been on the jury for various film-related awards.
  
  On the flip side, a bit opinionated (more than even I am :)) and too sensitive and **too** fond of VJ.
  
  But there is LOTS I have learnt from him - to differentiate between personal opinion and fact.
  
  I wonder what Naaz will feel when(and if) he reads this. But one thing's for sure...you dont find people having so much talent in so many fields as Naaz has, so easily. Naaz is a person worth knowing and keeping in touch with, even if u have to fight with him. :-)

  STS; THanks for that! Yesterday, I watched "Kasi" DVD. Two things amazed me! An astounding performance by "Vikram". Secondly, the music. I do not have words to exclaim! Great consolation for all Raja fans, I guess. He has kept my hopes alive. (Sorry, for my late response on this movie..but it is much more appropriate to comment now)
  
  Whynot & AVR: Indhu/Naaz/Jitendra Abisheki? Something "fishy" there. The name, Jitendra Abisheki, does not sound like a tamil name. I am rather doubtful that how it gets along with his/her "tamil only for tamils and not for others" arguments. I acknowledge his/her command over English, but ultimately his/her arguments led nowhere and resulted in nothing as I pointed out in that thread's earlier portion!   AVR, that was a glowing report on Naaz. I'm sure everyone must have disagreed wit Naaz at some point. What I found very disappointing was when a few people made personal attacks against him in the Titles For MDs/Paadava En Paadale threads, well, from the people who usually make these kind of attacks. Since then Naaz seemed quite pissed off and I hope he comes back to the forum. He was nice to have around at the end of the day.
  
  
  In my initial post in this thread, I spoke of my experiences with a DFer known as kavitha who made obscene/vulgar posts and how some of her posts seemed to have been deleted by admin. Doesnt admin do this anymore. Some people post simply to make vulgar/obscene comments in this forum. I mean I'm not even talking about general personal attacks like get a life, get married, u dont know music, etc...
  I'm talking about absolute vulgarities. We all know who are famous for such posts.
  
  Am I the only one who feels their offensive posts need to be removed, or are there others here with the same opinion?

  hmm.. new twist in the thread.
  
  bharath wonders if it would be a good idea if co-DF'ers came out with a CONSTRUCTIVE critisism of "what they expected" and "what was lacking" in a particular DF'ers attitude/posts.
  
  This might be a new turn to provide quality feed back and enrich the quality of discussions.
  
  But then constructive critisism might deteriorate into outright bashing..
  
  and bharath might be critisized a lot by many people..

  Naaz is decent sort of bloke. I am among those who thought/think him and Indhu were the same.
  
  But I am satisfied discussing with him/her. flowery language in my experience distracts the reader from the point driven.
  
  the volume of words is better served as fact inputs rather than sugar sweeteners.
  
  but poor naaz for his/her sensitivity I wouldnt be surprised if he/she is totally upset by this unsolicited critisism
