TFM DFers Reunion - Class of 9x, 2kx - Down Memory Lane

Hi All,

Apologise for this sudden and unusual thread.
We have regular contributors and silent watchers in these forums, some new, some have been there since inception of the forums. Today we have a lot of new faces and there will be more.

I am just curious to know about which year/month did you join in the discussions here..

..I still remember chancing upon newtfmpage in Jan 2001 and sparking off a war in the 'IR's latest' thread unknowingly without realizing the ongoing IR-ARR fans blood feud ! A few of the DFers who were around (and are still)around were : kiru (the audiologist), bharath (a new generation fan), swami (sangeetha vidwan and once Bharath's nemesis!), common friend (a balanced fan), ambleen, eden(who got hurt when I said that he was still stuck in the 70s!), Karthik S (the music dealer who can make out a fake from an original!)...and a lot more interesting people that I have not mentioned !

Could you guys/gals tell us when and how you joined the discussions here and also narrate any funny incidents or discussions that had happened ?

  It was late 96... accidently got into this site, since then got addicted and gained knowledge and good friends... NOV,S.Keerthi,bones, RR, Ravi, Ramki, Kanchana, Gokul, CP, PG, Amar, Udhaya, Srikanth...and thanks to you people for the wonderful topics, quality discussion and knowledge sharing...
  
  I am not posting after 98, but reading the matter posted by fellow df'ers.. I enjoy reading the posts by Srinath, RajaG, Raj, Karthik, Velaythavan, bb....
  
  Then born Forumhub, a place for discussion topics from literature to litter... Got friendly connections with RaviSundaram, Ranga....

  I am here from day 1, mostly just reading. I think it was 97 may/april the forum was started, though i saw this page around late '95. It use to be just tfm page with some news (the domain name came late), but the forum was the boost. I use to spend hours and hours in a day, sometimes i use to be away for a month or two.
  
  There use to be a big intellect gang. Lot of IR fans (much decent ones). Its kind of gone now. Some annoying IR fans and some ARR fans just keep picking on them, this is what i see these days. Not that those days everyone was good, there were more people who use to talk sense. I am thankful for all those.

  Nagas introduced me to this site, in Aug-Sep. 1998 when we worked together. I was Saketh@Hyderabad then. I have learnt a ton of stuff since then. I occasionally post, but I visit everyday. I have the WCM related threads, Kannadasan Vs. Vairamuthu threads bookmarked and it is a lot of fun going over them again. The quality of posts has drastically gone down, to restate the cliche. I guess we have to wait for people to become more sensible.

  Though I havent indulged/contributed myself in any of the intellectual discussions and IR-ARR fights, I certainly have enjoyed them. It had been long since I have seen these pages downloading slowly. Somebody told me(is it Ravi) that they did it from IISc. Great job guys, I really enjoy your discussions.

  I came to know about this forum accidentally when I was searching the web for tamil songs. Its around 2 years I am visiting this forum. I was posting till mid of 2001 heavily but stopped after that (not fully but almost) seeing the fights between IR/ARR fans. I belong to IR school of music and hence I have not hidden my support for IR. These days visiting this forum for titbits, latest news on IR, ARR and others. I like the funny postings very much.
  For ex. "Davaavukke Alwaavaa' kind of ones.

  Hey, how cud I forget NagaS, Jsri, Srikanth...!
  
  Bharat and gang, do you guys remember ________ (I forget his nick)....once JSri, Swami, Bharath etc..had cornered this chap mostly because of a mud-slinging match between swami and him...and he left newtfmpage in a huff vowing to stay away forever....I staunchly defended him..he did return for a short while though and seems to have disappeared !

  Been coming to this forum since 1997 (days when it was hosted in a Singapore based site). I started off with the nick Swami and changed it to Normal Man. Now its almost a daily ritual to visit the page everyday. To this date I have come across various characters and the ones I admired were, Srinath, Raj (Hydreabad dude who had excellent answer posts) .......

  NagaS - if u scroll back a little back in this thread u would have got what Bharath had meant..... this was the discussion - Bharath had listed u as a HCARRF, but i wondered if u were a HCIRF..... so Bharath, then posted the sentence "unsure about NagaS loyalties" :-)....

  One thing is certain. Someone mentioned recently that sandaiyum sacharavum eppozhuthum rasigargalin vazhakkam" and this has been happening since the inception of this DF. :)

  My (mis)adventures in TFM page are recent - I feel like such a newbe ( I discovered this site in 2000) among a host of well-informed and enthusiastic old-timers. This site has its share of frivolity and fluff, but there is a monsoon of inspired and thought-provoking posts now and again. I find the discussions to be spirited and (at times) intellectually invigorating. I don't know many of you - but I do admire your commitment, eagerness and investment in TFM. Thank you for being here. And thank you for this on-line community! All best wishes.
  
  PS: I try my best not to get caught in the banal IR-ARR skirmishes. But sometimes quietism is less and less of an option! :-)

  NoV got the Laxmi aromas Top 10 and the other account for Forum Hub, so he should be visiting the forum often. I miss him a lot, but wonder why he is lying low. May be he is active producing shows for malaysian radio's. Anyway, All the Best NOV.
