What Makes AR Rahman Special

What makes AR Rahman really special? Why does his music cause so much excitement and flurry?
What is the difference that AR Rahman offers that no one else offers.

  As we in the Jayleno show everyday we can as well call MJ as "King of 'little kids'" . Other day there was this commercial. There are two altar boys screaming and running out of the search after they find there was a father, only to find Michael Jackson standing outside!! It is a shame on ARR to hold MJ as source of inspiration. Yuck!!

  get this into your head --- MJ is a great musician. Media abuses him in the name of press freedom.

  Hehe, So u thought i am an IR Fan. Hell no! I am an ARR fan but i rarely mention or sound like dat. Coz its my own personal perspective or music feeling. But i do love music from IR to D.Imaan, all of them has something to show i belive. I just comment here for fun, ya bay this is fun. :P

  In my opinion what makes ARR special are
  1. Sound quality
  2. attention to detail
  3. Smart and creative use of percussions and some
  arabic flavors in his tunes that leaves the tunes resounding in your head
  4. Overall fine tuning of the whole product after the initial recording which is a new concept new to TFM/HFM

  - Making actors waiting for the songs
  - Making the Directors miss the release date atleast 2/3 times.

  Well,I haven't listened to Baba songs.Being in Kolkata I don't get Tamil cassettes that easily. But for me,audio reviews do not matter as long as I find the music impressive.I do not need to know someone else's opinion to be assured that Rahman's music is (in general) superb; and will remain so irrespective of reviews,statistics or audio sales.

  Precisely. This is what matters. Not national awards, not how others find it(since music tastes differs), not whether the music has reached the whole world population and not because the songs/bgm is attached to a high profile director's movie.
  
  The most basic way to judge or rate how good that music is to you and how much it infiltrates into you is very simple. If you are listening to that same music year after year after year, then that composer has made his mark and is truly a genius with really good songs/bgm.
  
  So I hope all those who are trying so hard to prove this & that music is bloody good can sincerely justify this. Of coz those ppl whose attitude is like 'today I listen to this and wow! its very good' and then the next day don't even remember(which automatically qualifies as how superficial the music is), they are the ones who do not know what they're talking abt and probably are only figthing because of their own 'war' cause and not because the music touched their soul. From these ppl comes all the vetti pechu!
  
  I do know where these ppl are. I think we all know that.
