The much awaited "NANDHAA" film songs (Music : Yuvan Shankar Raja, Direction : Bala) are being released today (21-10-2001). Kamal Hasan is releasing the first audio cassette and Bharathiraja is receiving it, at Hotel Connemara, Chennai.
The songs are totally fresh & different, and not the usual Yuvan's latino-type music. This album can easily be compared to some of the best of Ilayaraja when he was at his best.
Hear the songs and enjoy.
(The sample audio songs will be posted here tomorrow - 22nd Oct, 2001)

Thaths, can you please confirm from Yuvan whether he is acting in the Senior Junior Film as posted in another thread today? I don't think Yuvan should jump to acting quite yet, He is at a good stage in his carrer, he should maintain this and maybe consider acting later in life.
Also are you a close frind of Yuvan Thaths? If so can you mail me also as I have a few points that I would like to talk about and maybe for you to convey to Yuvan

Thaths,
Firstly let me tall you that overall teh album was very good, with some good music from Yuvan and good lyrics to match. However there are some jarring notes in the selection of singers:
Why did you guys go for the sister duo Rajalakshmi-Madhumita? Is it because they have ALL of the qualities required in playback singing in TFM these days? Like:
1. Poor Tamizh Pronunciation (Aatma becomes aaDhma; plus a lot of Malayala kalappu)
2. No 'azhuththam' in rendition, 'nunippul meigira maathiri' light singing, with no 'bhaavam' either
3. 'pisir' adikkum voice, screechy at times
...
Well, a good Thiruppaavai was IMO spoiled by the lead singers.... Also the tune reeked of Sangamam's 'Margazhi ThingaL allavaa' which also had a unfinished Thiruppavai, "MaargazhithingaL" in the beginning.
I can't fathom why YSR could not have chosen a raga other than the same Sindhu Bhairavi, and if I remember corerctly the chorus lines in the above ARR song were sung by none other than the 2 sisters!!!! Too much of a coincidence here, huh?
Is YSR to blame for the choice or is it you, the producer?
And why call it Nandhaa? Wouldn't Nanda suffice? Numerology?

I have a few concerns in the way AndaL's thiruppaavai varikaL are used in Nandha - It is not exactly what AndaL wrote - your guys have jumbled the sentences, I won't mind if this change gives some good meaning to the 'new' paasuram, But that is not the case here, The real meaning of the Thiruppaavai is spoilt here which hurts me a lot :-(
NagaS,
Well said. I also fel the same. If Thaths, can share his thoughts about this(the email he had sent you) in this forum, it would be appreciated.
PeterPan,
Excatly my thoughts...looking forward to thath's comments.

Is THATH'S one of the producer's of the movie? The reason why Iam asking is, I live in Houston and I know Mr.Rajan (Madras Pavillion) and Mr.Kesavan (Ex-cameraman) very well and Mr.Rajan always talks about this project (NANDHA).

Nandhaa can be compared with any of the recent albums of IR. Infact I would say it is as good as Bharathi and Friends.

Folks,
BTW, you all know who are the producers of Nandhaa ?. Can you make any guesses?.
The producers are Ganesh Raghu and 3 of his partners. These folks are IT professionals who were running a Software company here in Houston, Texas. They had the constant urge to do something in Arts and here they are finally!!!.
Let us all wish them good luck.

thaths,
If you are still visiting this thread..
I appreciate your efforts in making this a clean album. Good lyrics (I will forgive jumbling words in the ANdAL pAcuram), good music and good diction (except a couple of places). The album is emotion packed. Mainly Roudram and Sokam. I like all the songs but my favorite is "kALLi adi kaLLi". It has so many emotions and expressions in that one song namely kiNdal, vetkam, sokam, kObam, nanRi, orumaippAdu, yEkkam, joy and wellwishing. For all who produced this album, "Keep up the good work". Now I have great expectations for your next project (A request: please consider including Vani Jayaram in your next project).

I offer my sincere thanks to Yuvan for his excellent compositions for Nandhaa. lOTS OF THANKS AGAIN for Mun Paniyaa voiced by the Gana Gandharva "Balu".....
The song is scintillating with Yuvan's fantastic composition and Balu's mellifluous rendition....
I thank Yuvan from my heart's bottom for not offering this "gem" to any other than BALU. I can't even imagine how it will be heard if sung by any body else...
This song is haunting me....I am starting my day with this song, friends..
Excel Yuvan, Excel, Make a memorable debut in Telugu also......

man puniya songs seem to be the best of the lot that have come for deepavali. arr has once again wasted his music with bad choice of singers.

Prashanth (@ 203.115.124.2) ;
Of course, it had to be sung by the gem, SPB, because no body else to date can reach the highest notes that SPB is capabale of, once M.rafi could do that, but now it only Dr.SPB in Indian Music Film who can reach the highest notes, with screaming, sounding nasal or feminine.
last but not least SPB' voice is uncomparable, which has also contributed enormously to the success of this song, along with YSR. I hope YSR make use of this gem in the future, rather than the nasal gangs, like Hariharan, Shanker, Unni Krsihnan, Udit,...etc.
thanks
