Kr said that " ARR is a very good in sound " ,but i think the magazine misquote din the magazine ..see this interview for reference
This is in http://browser.to/karthikraja
QUESTion :Each composer has his sources of inspiration. even dr.ilayaraaja has mentioned some of his in prior interviews, hailing from the same region as the two big name composers dr.ilayaraaja and a.r.rahman, how much do you think you are inspired/influenced by them ? would it be possible for you to provide a percentage wise breakup between the influence of the two ?
Answer : as i told, i have been influenced by Appa a lot. Right from a small age, the very desire to make music came from Appa having observed his style of working and work ethics. Rahman is also a very good musician, in fact both of us have worked together under Appa. Worked as in, not involved in the creative part of composing, but both of us would play the notes provided by Appa. We are very good friends and i appreciate rahman's music a lot. He is a very good music director and in recent times, no one has been able to capture his position. He has brought and sustained a trend with sound quality. Of his music, i liked the music of Roja a lot. Otherwise, from the rare occasions when i chance to listen/watch television i liked Snehidhane Snehidhane. I can't say that he has inspired me though. As for inspiration, i listen to classical music, western classical or carnatic. Taking inspiration from them, i like to present them in modern presentation/idioms, and not sticking to the classical format as such. Everything has already been done, there isn't anything new as such to be done.i try to mould in my own patterns. So, if you want to specify, you could put down an influence of maybe 5 to 10% of rahman's music on mine, and the remaining should be Appa's and Mozart's

i'm happy if IR family has respect for my icon.. ARR, while i posted that these things were said abt. ARR by IR i never meant that he did not have the rights to comment on ARR... he had full right in criticising a concept which irked him in TFM.... if he had referred to Computer music in mid 90's then u have to take it as ARR and nobody else... btw i had interesting info from a small time film journo that ppl have totally misunderstood IR-ARR relationship... he told me that they keep in constant touch and discuss abt Music thru telephone.. is it true? anyone can confirm this.. Of course Tomorrow's MD is YSR.
From his first movie ARAVINDAN all his albums are good.
So we can say today YSR and tomorrow YSR.

It cannot be denied that YSR has a long long way to go!
And in times when we see some new MD springing up a surprise every now and then We cannot really say for sure he is the next MD to rule TFM.
HE is the best among the "new" lot!

V..after ARR the only original talent to emerge is YSR..VS and HJ all sound very much like their chosen role models. Even though YSR's song is structured like ARR's (looped rhythms), he seems to have his own style of tune building, but I think either the tunes are not easily recongisable as his's and/or the tunes do not have a much wider appeal. But YSR is young, so let us wait and watch..even IR took a while to evolve his style (though his tunes were an instant hit, same goes for ARR, that is why YSR is still in the lesser league).

agreed YSRobserver!
But dont you think he has been seriously under-rated??
Reason is that many people dont want to listen to anything new

The only difference between ARR in YSR now...is that...YSR need to improve on his recording...then..he might set his own trend too...
Good luck YSR

@ 128.148.68.57,
who ever you are, the article is abt the movie and nothing to do with YSR. after the superb tunes by ARR in boys, this thread has already lost its relevance. but if you still want to change the title, one thing it could be ARR tomorrow, atleast for the foreseable future. mark my words, in just a few months, as usual YSR and the whole lot of new MD will come out with albums that sound like boys, because once again ARR has started something new and as usual you can expect the others to follow.

I don't think MDs will follow ArRehman's style after BOYS ...Though BOYS is a hit ,it is not a hit in the caliber of INDIAN or KAdhalan etc ....Also when ARRrehman came only IR was the king ..But now u have so many ,and people have started accepting YSR ,VS styles which are unique ....
Probably Harris Jeyaraj will change his style ...
Even after ARR came ,i don't think Deva ,Illayraaja ,VS have changed their styles !!!They are quite unique ,though they might not have delivered hits ( though they have delivered quality music ) ...
But it is surprsing that though few MDs have got shades of ARR in their songs ,their background music is very unique !!!!

N Teja, because ARR has released boys does not mean he is the md for the future. If anything he has shown just how far from TFM he has gone. Boys does not have any shades of TFM in indian style in it. ARR used to appeal to everybody but now YSR appeals to all ages whereas with Boys ARR only appeals to the mtv and v channel crazed youngsters.

Yuvan Shankar Raja rules now and hereafter in TFM

mumbai ramki,
IR made a desperate attempt to change his style in rasayya, what do you call mastana mastana.. so did deva, who i must admit was a lot some successful at it than IR with albums like Aasai and vaali and stuff. guys i clearly said "in the foreseable future". i believe someone like Vidhya sagar (or for that matter any noe)has a chance if he can bring some thing very new ... some new style instead of sticking to ARR style.

Thats why we want ARR to get lost from Tamil Cinema so that we can have only md's like YSR. Maybe he is an amateur, btu at least he has talent.

Hey guys, i have seen many people complaining abt intrusion of Hindi singers into Tamil... but who did it first? ARR? NOOOOO.... it was IR... he made Lataji sing for a peppy number in "Sathya(Tamil)"..... it was a genius of a idea but y do IR fans always credit ARR for importing North into TFM and y not their own icon???

hey this is prejudice and nuthin else.... if IR has done it, then it is gud.. if ARR has done it then it is bad.... come on guys, grow up....... and also dunt tell me u cant feel Adnan's magic in Boom Boom.. wat a gifted voice....

Yuvan Shankar's Raja's pleasing melodies bear a strong ILAIYARAJA influence. "Devadhaiyai Kandaen" (Harish Raghavendar) and "Nenjodu ... " touch you. Unnikrishnan's (with Sujatha) rendition of the latter is particularly appealing. All the same it is the theme music in the climax that bowls you over. The dance and stunt choreography for the scene, Dhanush's reactions, the ambience — everything about the sequence deserves applause. But Yuvan could have gone a little milder in the rerecording at some places, where the music is almost a din.
long back we decided YSR is following ARR. now the trend seems to change he is back to with IR infuence. thats gud to hear and let him continue in the same path....
