Remember the Music Director trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the music directors of Kamal Hassan's Alavandhaan. They seem to be missing in the Tamil scene for the last 2 years and they are doing really good in the Hindi field. They have given solid musical hits in Hindi such as; Mission Kashmir, Dil Chahtha Hai. I think they can be brought to the Tamil films again. I feel they are definitely better than Deva and a few others. I think they are the best as far as Hindi Film Music goes after A R Rahman.
I would like healthy comments who listen to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and have a fair knowledge of Hindi Film Industry.

Ehsaan, is there a new post-Rahman audience growing in India? Do these film songs appeal to them? I am talking of the BPO generation. Do you think there is a scope for more mellow less kumar sanu nasal twang type and more of intelligent jazz n rhythm type music demanded by the young romantic BPO working kids?
I think even Aaaj mein Upar (Jatil Lalit) type melodies are jarring particularly is they use nose oriented rich curry voice singers like kavita kichamoorthy and lata manageskar. ( no malice to none please, just my personal opinion) I know IR symphonies will crack at the new market but popular music was good with Biddu, Rahman etc and of course your classy stuff in Abhay.

I was completely bowled over by the music for Rockford,ALavanthaan and Dil chahtha hai.But somehow,i feel the later films like armaan dont have THAT charm.I of course dont deny that they're good, but i feel they're not as good as the 1st 3...
The BEST till date are aasmaan ke par and the instrumental piece in Rockford.DCH i feel is a close second. And the 'jOg'-ish feel for the title track of abhay was excellent too!

And what about other sound indian singers like Kj Yesudas, P Jayachandran, Sp Balasubramaninam, Mg Sreekumar and others?

Hi Ehsaan: seriously, do you think of working with international singers like Ricky Martin? i hear that they have interest in Bollywood music etc.. Since your style of music is very classy, do you think of widenin scope? secondly, what do you think of Bappi Lahari suing Dr. Dre. Do you think that was fair?

hi vineeth yes working with some international stars would be a great idea we would love to do that some time.well the bappi lahiri issue is a strange one considering that he has copied more than anyone else but i guess at a time when rues regarding music are getting more legalised in india it was the right thing to do ( suing dr. dre ) i just hope that someone sues indian composers for doing the same or rather the driectors and producers who very often suggest the usage of a foreign track. on the other hand if the producer paid the copyright and the royalties due i dont see why foreign songs cannot be done as hindi cover versions as a lot of artists abroad do when they cover versions of older songs like a lot fo the beatles catalogue etc.
hi rajeshr i really havent follwed the music of vishal bhardawaj so i cannot comment on that.
bluezz thanks for your comments.

Hi Ehsaan!
What've written made me curious. "on the other hand if the producer paid the copyright and the royalties due i dont see why foreign songs cannot be done as hindi cover versions as a lot of artists abroad do when they cover versions of older songs like a lot fo the beatles catalogue"
I never heard of an indian producer buying rights for a hollywood movie or songs.
But tell us please if you know more ;-)

Hey Ehsaan!
Hope you enjoyed your holidays!
It looks like I'm the only one who's questioning you at the moment!
I listened to the kuch naa kaho songs, i liked the song Achchi Lagti Ho by Udit Narayan & Kavita Krishnamurty! The others are okay, but not really mindblowing!
I have to say that your work on nayee padosan was better!
But that's my opinion :-)

Hello Ehsaan Saab, I loved your work in "Dil Chahta Hai". I also love how you use your singers to fit actors' voices. I mean we all know that Udit Narayan is a perfect fit for Aamir Khan but when you put in Shaan (great singer by the way) for Saif Ali Khan's voice in DCH, that was magic. I mean the guy really sounded like Saif. Anyway, looking forward to your future soundtracks.
