Remember the Music Director trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the music directors of Kamal Hassan's Alavandhaan. They seem to be missing in the Tamil scene for the last 2 years and they are doing really good in the Hindi field. They have given solid musical hits in Hindi such as; Mission Kashmir, Dil Chahtha Hai. I think they can be brought to the Tamil films again. I feel they are definitely better than Deva and a few others. I think they are the best as far as Hindi Film Music goes after A R Rahman.
I would like healthy comments who listen to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and have a fair knowledge of Hindi Film Industry.

Ehassan ,
I just heard the music of the movie starring ABishek Bachan and Aish ..I forgot the movie ..THey played two songs ....One by UDit is amazing ...Ur music is defintely different from the typical North and has shades of south indian Music ( in this movie) .The music is very good .

I too heard that, but found some traces of 'boomro" from MK in that. But still it was lot refreshing from what Nadeem-shravan, Anand R Anand and Jatin-lalith give us daily.

Ehsan
Watched Armaan. But for your music we would have swithced off the DVD in 10 minutes.
Your music sounded apt and sincere.Though i would not call it a great score (Despite the fact that Shankar is one of my favourites) you deserve a good big break ...say, from someone like Ramgopal Varma
Wish you all the best.Piano interludes and Background scores are really impressive.
Keep away from Karan Johar,Yash Chopra clan,Barjatiyas, subash Ghai,SLBansali. They can make a Anu Malik out of even Mozart.

Hi mumbai Ramki thanks for your nice comments on Kuch Na Kaho !!!

Hi OISG ........... the reason Karan Johanr and Yash Chopra creat a particular brand of music is because unfortunately no one has been able to give them something which is worthwhile aside of the old composers like RD and LP who they worked with regularly . We have done the music for Karan Johars Kal Ho Na Ho we are extremely happy with the melodies and the production its a good blend of both sensibilities. And if melodies are simple and not very classical it doesnt make them bad melodies.

And OISG the background score of Armaan was not done by us it was done by Raju Singh.

EHsan ,
The movie is Kannathil Muthamittal !!!!Few Questions ...
1.What is the avereage time you take for a film of 6 songs ???And how much for background music???
2.What is ur opnion on HIndi POP??I feel at present it has only remixes and the rest are westernised and there is no identity for them ....Only peopel like Falguni Pathak and very few come up with soft folk type like songs .Have you planned for any POP ??
3.DOn't you think it is a disgrace that we do not have separate awards for Background score ??( i think now there is one !!!)Even reviews do not speak much about background music !!!
4.DO Audio companies support releasing only the background score as Hollywood does ???( i think we have missed a lot of Illayraaja's background score !!!!)
5.The idea of having a song with only jokes ( abhay : hase de) was excellent and it was well executed .WHose' idea was this ??In any case the music was very good ,not to make it boring !!!

Hello Ehsaan,
I have a request. Can you please ask Loy to make us available the themes he made for the Doordarshan TV shows Turning Point and World this Week? Thanks a lot.

hi Ramki it takes us an average of 6 days a a song. Background score takes a minimum of 20 days. I think Hindi pop has some good artists like Shankar Mahadevan and Lucky Ali most of the other artists are musical disasters even though they maybe commercial.Unfortunately most Bollywood background scores are not worth listening to let alone giving awards to :)I am being Bollywood specific here not talking about the gorgeous stuff that ARR and IR do.The Dil Chahta Hai score has been released on cd.In reference to my earlier point if background scores were good enough I am sure they would be released on cd but I think the public would be sick of the typical sad, happy and action scenes and they would collect a huge library of sun rising flute themes !!!! The idea of using jokes was Kamalhassans.

Lucky Ali and good artiste??I thought he was one of the disasters to happen to bollywood/indipop!!

on: Wed Jul 16 03:19:03 EDT 2003
Great that Dil CHat Hai score was released.Lucky Ali ,in my opnion suits only for particular kind of themes ,but his tunes are good .
I think you are right when u say peopel will be sick of background scores !!!!Atleast once in a quater there can be a release!!!In hollywood ,they have separte websites( i came across 10 such atleast)
for film tcdaks and they discuss in detail abt the score!!!!
I think Sandeep Chowta did a great Job as far as BGM is considered in Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya ,assuming his score is original !!!

Lucky Ali is bad??? his voice is god-gifted and a very unconventional one... he is surely a good find for indian music....
to you Mr.Ehsaan,
How much do you feel the indipop will be affected due to unprecedented remixes?

Hey Ehsaan!
You wrote that the record companies add songs to albums with different singers (it was something with shrey ghosal), but if there is such a huge response on background scores, you should suggest to add some pieces of the bg music rather then reinterpreting songs with different singers!
Well there are some other questione burning under my fingers :-)
1. From where are you guys?
2. Are you only concentrating (or getting offers) in bollywood music? what about more tamil or telugu or even malayalam (where Shankars songs are hits right now)
3. What are your demands on a singers abilities?
4. What kind of guitar training didi you have? (western, classical, spanish)
5. What's your opinion on (indo-european) artists like Talvin Singh, Nitin Swahney, Badmarsh & Shri, Mynta (Shankar Mahadevan swedish friends) and others?
that's all for the moment!
Hope to hear from you soon!
Greeting from Switzerland :-)

hey ehsaan u guyz have never worked with "kumar sanu".................any specific reason for that??
- From: Ehsaan (@ 202.68.150.4)
on: Mon Jul 21 23:05:40 EDT 2003
hi vineeth we are all from bombay , we are working on bollywood film and in addition to that we are also working on some american films no south films as yet , we like singers who pitch well understand the emotion behind a song and have a rich voice timbre , i studied guitar at the musicians institute in los angeles concentratig on all guitar styles but i personally love the blues , i guess indo european artists are doing some good stuff as long as they can keep the fusion sound fresh.

IMHO Lucky Ali's voice is rather "besura". It's a motion picture event if he sings even one word completely in tune. I don't why people want to put such off-key singing on a high pedestal.
