Subject: Re: Baba Theme Music Lifted! - Old timers, silence implies acceptance?
That is a lift whether u call it inspiration or faint similarity.
Frankly, what does coincidence mean? "chance" of two tunes matching
with similar sounding instruments, at or near the same tempo! Isn't
that too many things happening at same time? Cumon guys, its ok to
accept sometimes.
Listen to "Don't leave the lamp on for me" by Bacon brothers here:

doesn't this faintly remind u of "Kannai Katti Kollathe" from Iruvar??

Thanks for your postings. But you not yet answer my other question. Can there be a third source for Untouchables..(I have not yet listened to them yet..I cannot listen in my computer..) So all I beleive is what you and others say..mine is just a counter question.

Are yaar:
I dont think the Untouchables tune could have a source since Ennio Morricone is not known for instances of plagiarism. We can blame every musician in this world with copying but what stops us from doing so is past track record.

The Bacon brothers number came out in 2001, the album was 'cant complain'.

Iruvar came in 1997 IIRR. So a case of reverse inspiration?

Are Yaar proves his ignorance once again. Ennio Morricone is an eminent italian composer who is known for his original music. The movie Untouchables was nominated for Oscar for best score. He has composed over 400 movies. His other notable works are Good, Bad, Ugly. For a few dollars more. Mission(Nominated for Oscar), Malena(french movie last year nominated for Oscar). I celebrate his entire catalogue. So being an ARR fan you are not even qualified to talk about Ennio Morricone. If you still don't understand check this link

Check how many times he was nominated for Oscars.

What's your clear verdict..Now answer me please.
And one more request or Advice.
I really appriciate your effort to bring the truth and find out the inspiration , copying and coinccidence. You do it unbiasedly to a large extend..okay. But, this perticular Baba inspiration, you posted on almost every thread and even in rahmanonline. Your wish to popularlise your site is 100% genuine and legal and also your effort to make your work noticable to every one is also praise worthy, but when you went on to paste your paragraph in every thread and also in other website and yahoo group, it some how disturbed some of the fans like me, who have just got hold of cassette by then. And after all that I read that it is a faint resemlence and also an argument that it might have been a genuine coincidence. Now tell me , could you have handled this better?

JJ:
So if somebody, is nominated for oscars then he is out of suspicion..ISn't it? I was not even suspecting..I was just asking Karthik S some clarifiction And also, the piece in that is in question is very small and faint. I have not heard the original though..So, no point in arguing with me..
Better ARR did not copy his own son's composition as some one else...thank God..he has no son yet.
- From: Aswathama (@ 68.58.127.57) on: Sat Aug 3 01:28:26 EDT 2002
Are Yaar!!!
For your ears to listen and accept like a man Arr inspired from Al Capone (just to make you feel good I avoided Copying):

Are Yaar:
I, to the best of my knowledge consider the Baba instance as a genuine case of inspiration/ copying/ lifting or whatever you want to call it. I was initially really surprised at the extent of this lift since ARR is not known to be that kind of a composer. I should know since I'm one of his biggest fans and was running the arrmp3 website before i2fs!
And to a large extent, I think our personal interest in a composer does come in the way of accepting the truth. I've felt this when I was this madcap fan of ARR (I'm a sane fan, now that I seen so much of lifting in the Indian scene)... I used to condemn everybody who used to talk anything wrong of ARR.
And I also think there's nothing wrong in knowing about a lift from ARR or anyone. As far as you are concerned if you're genuinely interested in a composer I dont think such instances should come in your way of enjoying the music. I really enjoyed Baba's music and still do so.

Karthik:
The problem is others will take your statements for their advantange. Tell me how many times that "Ace of base" or other such allegations which concerns loops and sample would have come here. Time and gain they raise the issue not knowing what's the truth behind that. I myself have read many of the explanation given by you time and again. At one point of time, I remember you or others writing that there should be a permanet link in newtfmpage clarifying this doubt.
I am a genuine fan and not a big fanatic. I fight with JJ & a because of their provocative postings. I wanted to address you openly because, I feel your postings are indirectly fuelling their stomach burning. Had I had any boubt of lack of confidence in ARR I wouldn't have discussed with you about this in a rather complaining like tone where every body is there to see.
You know one single small allegation is enough for them to run it of a year. They will word it in active, passive, direct, indirect and what not all kinds of voices.
Idhu thevai ya..that was my only question.

"Moongil kaadugaley" - Saamurai - pallavi similar to "O janani, en swaram nee" - Pudhiya raagam.
- From: MM (@ 207.46.137.8) on: Mon Aug 5 20:01:38 EDT 2002
I was just watching "Rush Hour 2" and when the movie label "New Line Cinema" showed up, the back ground music is unmistakably similar to the beginning of "Chinna chinna aasai" (only the first 2 to 4 seconds of Chinna Chinna aasai - nothing more than that - i.e, only a part of the intro sequence before the flute begins in the song). Its just 2 to 4 seconds of music, but when we were watching as a group everyone went "Hey, this is beginning of chinna chinna aasai"...
Sorry if this has already been discussed to death before. If this hasn't been discussed, has any one else found the similarity?
