An effort to remember at least 1000 good, popular hits of IR. No, this thread is not simply to list them! Please give running serial number & each of the song should have some nice comments about them...and no repetitions please!

  staccato rhythm with ok lyrics (pretty good when u consider the sandham)

  I think this topic should be renamed as "IR's 1000 songs" and not 'stars' because half the songs listed here have not made it even near to a "star" status!

  Even I think some of these songs cannot be termed `hits'(but definitely not 50%, may be around 20%):-))! But, as you know, there are replacements always possible and hence please go ahead and suggest:-)

  Maanodum paadhaiyiley - (Lovely village song by PS) - I guess the movie is Kavikkuyil.

  Poonthendral kaatrey vaa (for guitar) - JC and PS - Manjal Nila

  And before I forget, I'm removing the darling & kanavu kaanum numbers, for they are not bright stars but black spots!
  Replacements are originals like `Onna patha neram - a nice song in Adhisaya piravi and the childish`Kanna nee enge' in Rusi kanda poonai

  More pointers to refine the 1000. Can we set the following filters:
  -no more than 20 songs by Malaysia Vasudevan.
  -no more than 20 songs by Mano.
  -no more than 20 songs by IR.
  -no more than 5 songs with English or foreign lyrics (we can use exceptions such as "Ennuyir Neethanae" from Priya, but "Silence" from Panakkaaran could go)

  About 67 MV (solo/duet) nos. are in the list. Let's find out good replacements as for as possible and then proceed to change. However, lovely songs like vettiveru vaasam, poongatru, aahaya gangai, oru thanga radhathil, Ayiram malargale must remain, IMHO!

  What a coincidence! Even the IR(singing) nos. are 67 in the list. mmmmm.... These'll probably be very difficult to replace, IMHO, considering that IR had the habit of singing the very best of tunes! ......Even then it may be possible to easily toss out numbers like `enna paattuppada':-))

  i do not get the logic behind restricting the number of songs that MV, or Mano or IR sang. to go by numbers is, i feel, being unfair to these singers and the gems they have been part of. and surely IR has sung at least 30 songs that qualify as gems (since he goes for the best ones!!). instead, i recommend that we clip out songs that really don't twinkle on the TFM sky [mannikkaNum, koncham over aayidichchu:-)))] like as udhaya said, "silence", or the Rajni culture songs, or even ones like "mylapore pakkam".

  Clipping out inferior songs is of course the ultimate goal with me. I know there are good songs by all three artists that I have singled out, but these three are the most notorious singers in IR's entire collection. So I'm not saying we should take out MV's Dharmayuththam or IR's Eera Vizhik Kaaviyangal or Mano's Idhayaththai Thirudaathae songs. Just the many insufferable ones these guys have put out. Also, we can vote on these, I'm simply offering ways to trim the fat.
