PS and Shankar
I certainly did not want to create a rift....The point I was trying to put forward is to make constructive crticizm instead of mocking at people..
I am sorry if it is creating a rift.
Thanx

Raajangham team,
Maybe this might not be the correct thread, anyway, y'day I chanced upon a music shop and found some amazing books. They have complete background scores for movies(Jurrasic park, star wars etc) published as a book which includes scene references.
Just wondering wether raajangham guys can contact folks in prasad and throw up this idea to IR. It serves as a documentation and will be of great historical value. Hey!ram will be the place to start. Apart from releasing BGM CD they should also consider releasing the score as a book.
Just a thought.

Can we think of some creative 'mail signatures' for the members of Raajangahm ? For example some thing like
(a powerful caption like 'Music is his life' -- suggestions welcome)
Visit www.raaja.com
Let all of us suggest - and we will finalise something. All the members will attach this 'mail signature' in all their mails. I see this as a simple and good way to get many people to come to know about Raajangahm.
Any ideas ?

Coz the site sucks. They dont update it at all. Even sites that don't owe allegiance to IR have more news about IR than this one. And even the news(?) they have is posted on an awful scrolling java thingie that moves too fast for people to read. If you miss it and want to catch up on news and go to the news section, you wont see any of it there.
Instead they have *important* news like "New members joined Raajangahm" and the list of all hairdressers used by Raja :-((

karthik, yenna saar. Have some regards for people who have worked on it. LEt us give them some suggestions for making it more informative and exciting.
From: Karthik (@ wwwgate2.motorola.com) on: Fri Jun 23 18:44:29 EDT 2000
SL,
Sorry if I offended you or any of the Raajangahm guys. But going by the amount of hype when the site was started, I was expecting regular updates including
What IR is working on now
Upcoming projects
Some "inside info"
But we ended up getting almost nothing. "Raja is now doing rerecording for Karisa Kattu Poove" "Raja is now scoring music for Friends" --- idhellam oru newsa?
At the minimum, we expect regular updates and substantial news content. Every week, I see atleast 4 or 5 new articles about Raja on the web. Atleast they could post links to such stuff on the site.
Edhellam solla enakku enna urimai endru kettal .... the only reason I have a right to ask for such stuff is because the site claims to be the *official* site of IR on the web.
From: RaajaFan (@ 208.154.130.13) on: Fri Jun 23 19:08:30 EDT 2000
Karthik:
If you are so much interested in the articles about IR, why don't you send some articles to this site? Everyone knows that this site is a major effort by a group of IR fans to connect IR and his fans globally. Also, this site is just 3 months old and is growing. IMHO, I expect more developments to come from this site. In the Net, where innumerable number of IR sites were created in the past only for the sake of playing 1000s of Raaja's songs over the Net for free and popularizing themselves (instead of IR), this site was genuinely started to globalize IR's music(of course, without free music :-)).
If you are an IR fan, instead of finding faults with this site, why don't you contribute and help the admin of this site to make that more exciting? There might be "n" number of sites which post umpteen number of articles on IR, but IMO, this is the only site which posts the latest information on IR. BTW, only if Raja has hundreds of projects on hand, can this site send regular updates in and out, but, we all know that is not the case.
So, if the site needs articles, it is upto IR fans' to contribute. It is better to light a lamp than curse the darkness.
From: Karthik (@ wwwgate11.motorola.com) on: Fri Jun 23 20:55:15 EDT 2000
RaajaFan,
I could contribute, I agree. I'll try to send some links to them in the near future.
That apart, I was kind of expecting a reply with this tone from someone. Why is it that whenever someone criticizes this site, he is asked to contribute or shut up (in so many words)? Is'nt it the responsibility of the site maintainers to make sure their site is updated regularly and makes *intersting* reading to visitors?
Has Raajangahm ever made interesting reading to you once you exhausted their supply of articles? No. Do you visit Raajangahm every day with anticipation like you visit any other music related site? If the site is to help Raja reach out to people, the site should be made more interesting. News items that Raajangahm carries might be interesting to IR fans (like you and me) but not to the average guy on the street.
Song samples, articles, frequent updates, reviews (even critical ones), interviews and some general sprucing up will help the site gain more visitors ... Is'nt that the first step towards popularizing his music?
From: suresh (@ dedicated-149.chn.vsnl.net.in) on: Sat Jun 24 01:16:43 EDT 2000
While I don't condone the tone of Karthik's earlier post, I fully agree with the valid points
he's raised
1 in the netage, even a day's time is too late for breaking news; we find that raajangahm is way too late in bringing any IR-centric news, and any defense such as RaajaFan's "this is the only site which posts the latest information on IR" has to be taken with a handful of salt. Atleast from TFM, you could've gathered news like new releases - Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal, Ilayavan.. - not do that and maintain "IR's official site" tag is a crime you're perpetrating on the man that you're claiming to represent and promote
2 weak defense - "If you are so much interested in the articles about IR, why don't you send some articles to this site?" - is a passive, reactive response. I don't wish to take names, but I've personally found your response to be poor. I thought I'll volunteer for something and wrote twice putting forth my thoughts (this was a few months ago), and haven't received the courtesy of a one-liner till date. I understand everyone's busy with their own work & lives, but so am I and many others who have been frequenting these fora with a passion for IR. Bitter with experience, I've decided that it's better to stay a detached onlooker than get involved
3 "where innumerable number of IR sites .....for
free and popularizing themselves (instead of IR), this site was genuinely started to globalize IR's music(of course, without free music :-))"" - i'm sorry to say that this is a glib, presumptous remark that flies in the face of the fact that these song-based sites are actually doing better to popularise IR in a way that you haven't been able to. To say that a Rex or Shibu have done that to popularise themselves is an irresponsible statement that demeans their passion for IR's music and of the hundreds that frequent these sites.
No offense meant, I sincerely wish there was a serious attempt to introspect..
From: Jee (@ 193.188.124.130) on: Sat Jun 24 02:13:03 EDT 2000
Raajafan,
"In the Net, where innumerable number of IR sites were created in the past only for the sake of playing 1000s of Raaja's songs over the Net for free and popularizing themselves (instead of IR)"
What do you mean by this ? Let me list out something to you.
1. Now all sites stoped uploading the songs, because of IR's message.
2. We never made us popular instead of IR, because the main aim is to popularise IR's music, not to popularise us.
3. Ask 1000's of IR fans visited our sites, what they got. They will tell, they got only IR's music not anything else.
4. Your statement is too blunt & it will hurt the feelings of some webmasters, and cheapen their tremendous effort to bring IRs music on net.
5. You know how many times, our sites got deleted ? Even we reload all the stuff.
If we want to popularise ourself in name of IR, why we reload all the songs ? We must have reloaded only our personal information & other things.
Before making the statement, kindly see that it will not affect others feelings.
From: Jee (@ 193.188.124.130) on: Sat Jun 24 02:22:02 EDT 2000
IMO, I have nothing against RAJANGHAM. Infact, I like the site very much. They are moving on the right way only.
All official websites will be like this only. When a new film or news comes, it will be updated immediately. If there is no exciting news, the site will concentrate on his works & other updates.
They are not magazines, so that if there is no exciting news, they will create one (kisukisu) and popularise.
I didn't see any defects in RAJANGHAM teams work.
What if they put "New members joined" in news. If that is wrong, people put a counter in their website is also wrong.
IMHO, RAJANGHAM is a very good site & moving in the right direction to popularise IR globally.
From: Bug (@ goliath5.primary-server.net) on: Sat Jun 24 03:03:01 EDT 2000
folks,
I am new to this forum....just from my observations...i am suggesting these...
Karthik, Suresh has made valuable points-constructive remarks. One cannot deny that. However Raajafan also did convery some valuable rebuttal, although it was more marked with sarcasm.
let us take a small example.....http://www.stevenseagal.com
if you visit this site...it will give you all the latest and detailed works of forthcoming seagal's projects etc. True to the belief of an "official" site...it has direct inputs from the seagal himself.
(this seagal summa oru example thaan:-)
now take raajangahm....the major criteria for an site to be official is that it should furnish the news "AHEAD" of any other newspapers or magazines. For example if IR is going to sign up a project ....then it should come first in this site. Now take this site.....the project "pandavas" was confirmed by the company which is going to shoot the film. I don't think any company will simply bluff for the sake of publicity. This won't fetch a good name on the long run. This site should have given more facts about the project well ahead of time. but didn't so... ..like this there are so many things.
secondly, there is no connection between real audio songs and IR's CD purchase. CD vangavendum endru oruvar ninaithaal kandippaga avargal athai vaanga thaan pogirargal.....
IMHO, i don't think a true music lover or a ardent fan of IR will deprive himself from enjoying a quality music from a CD than getting satisfied with the poor quality real songs.
Logic bayangrama uthaikuthu. :-)
Ethukkum IR'kkum enna sambantham...ennnakku puriyala'ppa.
There are several ways to popularise one's music. Purchasing a CD ALONE IS NOT GLOBAL POPULARISATION.
if IR is having that kind of opinion....pity thaaan. :-(
IMHO, i feel that IR's name is getting dragged here unncessarily.
I think i have seen a trend....if there is any critical remark on IR stuff....they become an enemy of this forum....aal paadu atho gathi thaan.
Nambalaiyum serthu urutaatheengappa. :-)
webmasters having real audio songs....aren't popularising themselves...i don't think so.....by popularising themselves what are they gaining???
Raajfan do you think by getting a name like that will fetch extra perks in US? or a job ? in what are they getting benefitted?
finally, popular'aa....eillayaa? endru kettey....they have become popular now. :-))))

Guys,
I am in agreement with the points raised by Karthik and suresh. I too have sent in pieces of info on items missing from their lists of song-writers, singers, etc, and am yet to receive a semblance of a response from them. Not that I hold it as a grudge against them and hence refrain from visiting their site or any such thing. All the same, a non-response everytime does'nt exactly serve to sustain enthu, does it ?
Secondly, (apart from the infrequent and often not-so-informative updates on the site, as pointed out by Karthik and suresh) their chat forum is not up-to-the mark. The kind of queries that are discussed there are pretty poor, and hardly the kind that evoke meaniningful discussions that often happens here. With the result, the feeling of anticipation for something interesting (not of the "kisu kisu" kind of gossip) is just not there to prompt a daily/frequent visit to the site.
But to be fair to them, I appreciate their intentions and efforts to popularize Raaja's music.
And just a request for all those defenders (the numerous "RaajaFan"s and the "IRFan"s in this forum) - I don't think it's a very good idea to come out with suggestions like "if you are so interested, then why don't you do...", by lurking behind an anonymous pseudonym. Well, no one's got problems with pseudonyms as such, but to use RajaFan and IRFan as a screen to pass such comments on others in the name of defence, is not in good taste.
From: VS (@ wwwgate31.motorola.com) on: Sat Jun 24 12:33:42 EDT 2000
BTW, why are we talking about all these things ? As vijay very pertinently asked sangeetha, what is the intent of raising this issue in the first place ?
sangeetha needs to clarify what she was looking for by raising this issue ?

Discussing about raajangham is nothing new here. A full thread is about that. I have seen many people discussing about it for long time. Lot of people gave suggestion, comments, and congrajulations etc. Everyone discussed how site should be, comments were given and even announcements about raajangham were made in this very newtfmpage not very long ago. Why is it that when there is a criticism on it, newtfmpage administrator get upset and ends the discussion? I think its unfair and incorrect to do so.
