I'm a new visitor to this website. I couldn't see anyone discussing about Vani Jayaram's songs.
Let me start this one.(It had been there previously pls. forgive me!)
"Ezhu swarangalukkul ethanai paadal..
Ithaya surangathul ethanai kelvi...
Vaazhum manitharukkul ethanai salanam.."
Wow! Beautiful voice!

You are incredible. I am scared to find out what you know about the rest of us here. What is your brain made up of anyway?

Saravanan,
I am relieved you are not in Gestapo,Raw or Mossad!
only a fly in the wall could have gathered more info...
just a few corrections here and there..
I am not in Meerut ...but in a place starting with M in UP!
PBS is a favourite no doubt but i do like TMS, KJY, MKT, PUC, SPB ,PS AS et al.also dharapuram sunderrajan :-)
Actually Nagesh is my favourite comedian. But VKR is VKR !!I like the way he was always that and still fresh and the way he could just stop short of being crude and vulgar!
was it all culled from this forum or do you have spies elsewhere!! did i mention about Asokamithran here? surprising!!
the only thing you have not told is who are my favourite cricketers and which EPL side I root for!(9.8 out of 10 for your biodata of me!!)
yes i agree the " carefree" remark was not quite in sync but the A in Q really puts me off! so i won't take it back ;-)
I'll try to be squeaky clean next time. (try is the operative word)
Priya , I gathered as much. when did you leave the place? i am assuming from your id that you no longer live there? if you share my enthu about Pondicherry we can spend days talking about it!!!!

Saravanan,I suspected the M place with Tamizh sangam and he must be with refinery to suit his refined tastes.Drives a santro which has a good collection of TFM songs.
Attending seminars means a 9-5 middle management desk job and not in the production side despite his engineering/marketing qualification.

Yes OISG,
Partially correct. About place & workspot! I drive a 13 year old Maruti 800 - I have been trying to change it for the past five years but somehow can't do it. i am too attached to it!Funnily I do not have a system in my car I love to sing as I drive.I know my limitation as a singer so i do it when I drive alone!

All, here's my this week's upload:
http://in.f1.pg.briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/nat_saravanan/vwp2?.tok=bcjADETBJ_.UoiEh&.dir=/&.dnm=swing.mp3&.src=bc
'Swing swing' from Vanakkathukkuriya Kaadhaliye.
I recently rediscovered this song in my collection, and brought it to SOTD yesterday.
Enjoy!

Saravanan -
It is a telling comment when silence (99%)is all that follows your dilengence to delight. The meagre, if not muted, response to the VJ rarities that you upload here and elsewhere, unmasks more than ordinary prejudice. Allow me to quickly theorise:
One person's discernment is another's drone. Good taste, in my world, is a product of personal investment and consistent individual honing. Finesse, a word that rolls easily off the tongue, hides the ardour of refinement and doesn't even hint at the hardwork that makes it the ultimate qualification.
Groan Drone is the ever-ready escape.
VJ songs (solos or duets) hit many a viscera around here. But for your enthusiasm and pleasure in these songs (and there are some others, yours truly up there in the list, who thrill to these surprises every other week) a VJ song in SOTD is less than an option and lesser than a choice (unless, of course, it is your choice for Wednesday.) While I wouldn't dream of denting your regard and relish in these rarities, I'd make just one pertinent and necessary request: Please bring all the VJ songs to this thread, or better still, share them with the members of the egroup.
Wouldn't you rather share in a place where your work truly sings? From bother to (vocalised) bliss in one short move. You couldn't possibly disagree.

priya,
good! Assuming you 'd left for US of A sometime after college and doing some quick mental calculation makes me conclude that you set foot on the planet just as i was leaving pondicherry for higher studies.
Schooling enga Cluny I guess! College Barathidasan? and something to follow in Pondicherry University?
Mathavar addikkumun we can continue about PDY elsewhere
Merci madame.

Thanks so much for that Swing song. Truly made for a lilting mood when one listens to it. I say both Vani and JC (??) sounded pretty good. Actually, Vani kept reminding me of PS in this song. There is some quality in her voice in this song, that I can't put my finger on, that makes me feel like I was listening to PS sing.
Who is the composer anyway?

Saravanan,
Swing swing used to be quite popular in the late 70s. The song has "1970s" stamped all over it. It must be two decades since the last time I heard it. Thanks for sharing.
Naaz,
I know what you mean. Regardless of her guilt or innocence, do you think Martha was targeted?
Do you get my drift?

Naaz,
why this discource on bowels ? I referained from commenting yesterday as your remarks were addressed to Saravanan but your paragraph " One person... ever ready escape" makes me wonder.... enna aachu? ullu baagundha? Kya ho gaya?
and why is Martha stewart being brought in ?
As Chandrababu put it

Naaz,
Sorry for this belated response. I understand what you feel.
See, when I started bringing songs to SOTD every wednesday from my collection, I was clear about one thing: the songs should be reasonably rare, not easily available elsewehere and of course, worthy of a listen. So, I never expected the large number of responses that hugely popular songs tend to elicit. I am satisfied even if a few dfers find something to cherish in the songs that I have enjoyed.
And the same theory holds good for VJ songs as well. Not many dfers who come to VJ thread come to the SOTD thread, and that could be one reason, as they are not aware at all that a VJ song has been featured as SOTD! (Like Kaumudi)
And in my optimism, I still believe that if 'Naathamenum kovilile'/ 'Pongum kadalosai'/ 'Ennullil engo' etc had been featured, the responses would have been more than for say 'Swing swing'.
Further, I don't think every one who listens to SOTD posts a response.
Yes, I'll definitely continue to bring songs to this thread, but please allow me to also continue to occasionally bring some rare VJ songs to SOTD as well :)

Kaumudi, 'Swing swing' is from 'Vanakkathukkuriya kaadhaliye'. By JC & VJ. Music by MSV. I didn't give these details, as the song had just been featured as SOTD, and all pertinent details were given there. Glad you liked it!
Susi, 'Pollatha aasai vandhu' is from Kuva Kuva Vaathukkal. 'Alaimeedhu thadumaaruthe' is from Anbulla Malare. And 'Manmathaan thaan vitta ambu' is from Thalaiyanai Mandhiram.

Saravanan -
You've gleaned the essence of my post with startling acumen.
Fact is, your great admiration and unflagging enthusiasm, coupled with your far reach in excavating these rarities and sharing it with us (every body that visits here clicks on your picks, trust me) falls on such feeble fingers. That's the unforgivable silence of inertia. It has been my long-held opinion that both you and VJ are wasted here.
But, you're right. I fully agree that the pleasure that comes from preaching to the converted is beyond comparison. No other satisfaction comes close. :-)
Vengayam -
See above for my Kuch Na Kaho to your Kya Ho Gaya? :-)
