Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy can be brought to TFM

Remember the Music Director trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the music directors of Kamal Hassan's Alavandhaan. They seem to be missing in the Tamil scene for the last 2 years and they are doing really good in the Hindi field. They have given solid musical hits in Hindi such as; Mission Kashmir, Dil Chahtha Hai. I think they can be brought to the Tamil films again. I feel they are definitely better than Deva and a few others. I think they are the best as far as Hindi Film Music goes after A R Rahman.

I would like healthy comments who listen to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and have a fair knowledge of Hindi Film Industry.

  Frenchman doles out Hindi songs
  
  Pascal Heni was the biggest surprise of the Chandigarh Carnival show at Leisure Valley today. The first Occidental singer to have reinterpreted the popular songs of Hindi and Tamil cinema, Pascal doled out Hindi songs tonight, along with his group of trained performers.
  
  Significantly, 11 songs presented by Pascal were earlier recorded with a big orchestra at Empire Studios, Mumbai, under the guidance of Indian music directors Laxmikant Pyarelal. This project was a collaboration with Jean-Phillippe Benoit, who later mixed and released the songs in France.
  
  Singing in Hindi as if it was his mother tongue, Pascal naturally came to be called the Indian French. During rehearsals at the venue this afternoon, he mentioned how he began singing Tamil and Hindi numbers. “I stumbled upon Hindi music when I picked up some CDs and later discovered that the CDs contained Hindi songs. For 15 years, I have been feeding on the Hindi music, singing songs composed by R.D. Burman and Shankar Mahadevan with equal ease,” said the singer. Such was Pascal’s passion for Hindi and Tamil songs that he took lessons in Hindi from Usha Shastri and in Tamil from Raj de Candappa in Pondicherry. Pascal has also made presentations of Bollywood songs in Italy, France and now in India.
  
  Pascal, who calls himself, “Pascal of Bollywood”, has recorded many Hindi songs, including “Zindagi ek safar” from film Andaz made in 1971; “Pyar do pyar lo” from Jaanbaz made in 1986; “Jo tumko ho pasand” (film Safar which had music by Kalyanji Anandji); “Haan diwana hoon main” (film Saranga made in 1960); “Chali chali re patang” (film Bhabhi; 1957); “An evening in Paris” (from film An evening in Paris; 1967), among others. He presented some of these numbers today.
  
  Among the Tamil numbers that he sings are “Oh Rasikkum Simane” (from the film Parasakhti made in 1957). The music of this film was by T.R. Pappa; and Rajaavin Parvai from the film Anbe Vaa, made in 1966. This film had music by M.S. Viswanathan.
  
  Pascal also presented the latest Bollywood hit, “Shaava shaava” from the film Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham. And this he did with admirable ease. — TNS

  Nearly one and half month back, when BRUCE WILLIS asked you whether you would use Kumar Sanu in any of your future projects, you replied that it may happen if all three of you, namely, Shankar, Ehsaan and Lloy agree on this.

  It is rather unfortunate that you were not able to convince them to use Kumar Sanu voice. We are millions of hardcore music lovers who love his voice and like to hear the magic of SEL at least ONCE with his voice. We will wait for that day to come. Just see recent PLAN and AETBAR sales are more than LOC just becuase he is there.

  calm down Rav Avtar jee. I am myself a Kumar Sanu supporter and want SEL to use him. But see Eshaanjee understands our concern and he will work on it as I understand. Yes Kumar Sanu and Udit are the two great singers. Sonu Nigam is actually killing the music industry giving flops.

  How do you go about composing BGMS for a specific scene.. Do you take cues from some of the songs in the movie.. Or you create some brand new stuff. For example, the Sid's theme. Wonderful piece. What was the thought process behind it.. Can you kindly enlighten?

  hi shankar very often one does have to use cues from a song which helps tie the bgm together. sids theme from dch is a variation of his song kaisee hai yaeh rut but we only used the b part of the mukhda so that fitted in beautifully.
  there is no real thought process just a little imagination and creation of music that emitionally feels correct.

  thanks for the response..Enjoyed your interview in Kal HO Na preview about the way you guys composed the Pretty Woman song..Cool piece.. But, personally I felt that the percussion accompaniment was bit low when compared to the energy Shankar was delivering the vocals..Any specific reasons for it??.

  One observation from the viewers of KHNH that the song MAHI RE came very late in the movie. Similarly the title song came at a wrong place and the sad portion of title song bored a lot to the viewers. On the other hand it a time for disco song came earlier than expected. This is an observation from the movie point of view.
  
  Also all Kumar Sanu fans, congrats for the artist of the decade award. Hoping for a day when SEL+KumarSanu combo will win ALL awards.
